I was wondering about the emperors champion-i don't have the codex but I really like the black templars as a close combat SM chapter. Does the Emperors champ include an iron halo in his profile or does he buy it? Aso, if he dies , does the whole army lose the vow?

Black Templars are a good close combat army.
The EC is equipped with the armor of faith which gives him a 2+ (4+) armor save and the Black Sword makes him S6.
If the EC dies the army still keeps the vow but it is considered a bad omen if the EC is to fall in battle. Nothing happens to the Black Templars if the EC dies in game. The EC also has some other really good rules.
