Quite ironic isn't it?
How so good carbon.?
I dunno, Mad Max/Road Warrior has awsome guns and weapons in general, yet Australia doesn't even allow airsoft at this point. What the Paintball situation over there? I can't remember if you have it or not.
I see, :D and yep, we has the paint balls, through i have yet to partake.

O______O

That is fantastic, Tone.
Whoah! Got any higher resolutions? Wallpaper size?

Also, if you add the Linux Mint logo to the upper right of the first pic, I bet they would love to include the pic as a wallpaper in the next distro release. :)

EC: It'd be pretty awesome to be one of the default wp for Mint.

EC & EB: Here are uploads. It isn't as good as it can be. Had to drop the quality by about 25% to fit it on the uploader. As before, I can email you full copies if these aren't sufficient.

Took this pic while travelling in the rural areas of Vietnam. I love the city and hate the country side :( It wouldn't be so bad if things were just a bit cleaner, but hygeine really isn't one of their concerns here.

That's got a sort of "70's camera" feel to it with the lighting.

tone.tran
18th July 2010, 13:01
Ya, everything there looks so old and run down. I saw some houses made of scrap metals riveted together there and so I wanted to recreate some of that feeling. I wanted to gather the balls to take pictures of the people here since there are really good possible photos, but haven't yet and I'm back in the city now.

There is a colour version, but it's really bad. I was on the tour during the middle of the day and the sun was extra bright out there. All the colours are very washed and the overall effect is quite unappealing.

I have yet to ever see a wild lizard here in Canada. Lots of geckos in Vietnam.

Were those rooms off limits? I'm guessing you were stuck in the adjacent room.

edmundblack
11th August 2010, 23:37
They are currently semi closed off, but eventually the Victorian sheds will be removed and a set of new buildings will be built on top of the original Roman walls and these buildings will allow people to go in to the rooms and view the mosaics underneath properly. They are currently being excavated again with work starting this year on the new buildings. Should be awesome. :D

eb - Was driving a Lexus IS200, so was one of the slowest cars by a fair margin. Good fun to push hard in the rain while the guys in Porsches tiptoe round the circuit though :D

edmundblack
4th October 2010, 22:00
Any on board videos then? ;)

So, what was it like? Bit different to GT4 huh? What did it cost to go round it? Do you only get the one lap? :D

Andy
4th October 2010, 22:21
Tons different, the elevation changes are so dramatic in real life, there are hills which you don't realise are there until you struggle in 3rd gear; hills which you never knew existed from any game simulation of the circuit. It costs 22 Euros a lap but you can go round as many times as you like - should have a video soon from when I took the boss (was there with friends + work people) round the circuit. It'll no doubt look a lot slower on camera, but he was holding onto the door the whole way round, and we spent the whole lap chasing after an M5 - to eventually catch and pass it at the last corner, with 4 people in the car and in the rain, wasn't so bad :P

Some cold photos taken yesterday and today.

Nothing like a trip to the sea side in the freezing fog. Awesome atmosphere there actually, not a soul in sight, no wildlife only the gentle lapping of the sea around a 1/4 mile away:

The crystals were about an inch long and some were hair-thin. :D

These were crystals of ice growing on the underside of the layer of ice which formed on the top of our water butt - I was surprised to see them so fine and delicate, and so perfectly see through as well it's like peering through glass.

Just saw this magnificent creature land on the wall of our house. I've never seen one before, and it was a sight to behold. I think she's a Queen Bee of some sort, and was easily about 1.5 long. She took off with a wonderful deep-base thrumming sound. Glorious.

Pardon some are not all rotated here apparently; here's the raw Photobucket album link with fixes, and extra pictures of me + family http://s209.photobucket.com/albums/bb19/yWizePapaSmurfy/Germany%202012/

That is a pretty bloody epic building right there Smurfy.

I have a windmill:

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z202/edmundblack/Taunton%20Museum%2015-08-12/StembridgeTowerWindmill.jpg

Last thatched windmill in the UK too. Stembridge Tower Windmill, Somerset.

And, because I know tone will get jealous ( :P ):

Random place my brother and I happened across today called Berrow Mump. Apparently, both words mean "hill", presumably in Saxon/Old English. Rather charming I thought. :D

Looking good EB. I'm :(. I have been in Ireland for the last few months and didn't bring my camera, so I couldn't take any pics of the countryside.

You were where and didn't take what?!? Tone, I ... I ... cannot comprehend this. Dude, seriously. :(

tone.tran
18th August 2012, 10:49
I know :( I'm here for a while and had very limited baggage. So I couldn't bring much. It was between my camera or my laptop/clothes. Since I'm here for 3 months, I figured I needed other things more. My camera is quite large. One of the pitfalls of having a DSLR.

Oh well, I'm stuck in Dublin which doesn't have as great photo opportunities. I hear if I go out west or north, there are some amazing landscapes.

Boltrig In your epic gas mask picture, why is the Weyland-Yutani Corporation symbol in the corner?

So it's been a long while since I've had a chance to play with my camera. Currently in Paris so why not a picture I took of Notre Dame.

I took a few shots, but I don't have any other's I am partially happy with. Unfortunately, I take hundreds of photos and only post 1 or 2. Since I didn't have my camera all summer, I feel like it's difficult to get a shot that I want and things haven't beeb turning out as well. We'll see if I can get anything better in the next few days.

As you're in France, don't suppose you're nipping over the water to the land of the Angles by any chance?

tone.tran

Sadly not :( I was going to stop by for a bit but couldn't fit it into my schedule. Only reason I can justify Paris is because I had a conference to go to nearby.

Cool. I've tried taking shots of dragon flies before but failed :( I didn't have a decent lens on me which could shoot macro so I couldn't get close enough up to focus. Damn thing flew off before I could snap a few shots.

I've only got a simple compact, but conditions today were flat calm and hot, ideal conditions for taking pictures of the most skittish things. Turned out rather well as a result I think. :D

As well, technology is really making leaps and bounds. I was playing around with a friend's point and shoot the other day and it was very well made. There's plenty one can do with one without paying through the roof for an slr and expensive lenses.

Great colours! :D:D:D It's currently grey and overcast here in Toronto. I finally got away from Dublin's rainy weather and I get back to crappy weather in Canada.

Was that taken nearby? One of your leisurely strolls around your neighbourhood again?

Verily indeed. That was taken on the seafront in July, a mere 10 minutes from my current location. Nice to go along there for a stroll now and again once all the tourists have buggered off. Can be quite pleasent. :D

Thought I'd join in (hope no one minds!).

It's that time of year again, and I actually have a semi decent camera this year, and having fired off around fifty shots, I actually got some reasonable firework shots:

To give you an idea of the size of some of these stones, here's my brother next to a smaller stone circle's stones:

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z202/edmundblack/Stanton%20Drew%2014-02-13/CIMG6033_zpsddd6155e.jpg

He's 6'2", and these stones tower over both of us, some of them being at least 4' thick and go down a few feet too. And these were lugged there by hand, dug into pits excavated with bone spades and antler picks. Just astonishing.

The site is called Stanton Drew, about 30 minutes from where I live. It's in the middle of nowhere, with only the birds and a few farmers' herds for company, a river running along the bottom of a wide river valley. In size, the stone circle is second only to Avebury in the UK in terms of diameter and there is a ditch in evidence along the eastern edge of it, with evidence to show that it continues around the whole circle, as well as there being some activity inside it, possibly post holes for a wooden structure. Great little site that no body has ever heard of. :D

If you did, that'd be great. Would have to work out where you'd want to go and/or what you'd want to see however, there's lots of historical stuff around here and countryside aplenty. :D

I've not seen that one before. I had a chance to walk around Avebury, Durington and a few other places a couple years ago though.

Few people have. It's not as impressive as Avebury in terms of size of the ditch, or construction like Stone Henge, but is nevertheless large and nice in it's tranquility. It's here, if you're curious: http://goo.gl/maps/kKYI7
