hey,
ok so I have been talked into buying the AoBR and I am interesting in joining the Waaagh!! I am planing to pick up more boyz and kopta's to help fill out my army. I joined the forum hoping to get some answers to some questions and to get more ideas on armies and tactiks
ok first question is does anyone use killer cans? if so what is the typical weapons used with them?
a guy at the shop said that rockets are the way to go with orks, is the good advice or just trying to make me an easy prey?
I guess my last question for now is when moding a model do you have to use GW stuff only or can you take a claw off a different toy and add it to an ork for a power claw or piece together a Killer can out of spare mech parts and lego?
any help is appreciated

I like Killer Kans. I've seen them used to great effect with the Grotzooka and a Big Mek with a Kustom Force Field. So far as what models you can use, it depends on how you plan to play. In most tournaments you are required to use GW models. You can add little custom bits to them (like the claw you mentioned). But, the bulk of the model is supposed to be GW product. That can be rough with expensive models like the Killer Kans. But, if you are just playing friendly games, you can make your own models all you like.

Of course, you can be a sneaky git like fellow forumer Ghost, and make Kans out of empty GW paint pots, which are 100% GW product :D!

To answer your power klaw question I was pointed to this link
http://www.the-waaagh.com/forums/?showtopic=30595
They have detailed instructions of how to make power klaws. The new Nob box includes 3 power klaws if you want GW Klaws. Rokkits are one of the best ork special weapon to wield cause they are quite a powerful punch for 10 pts, but the Grotzooka seems to be an excellent choice for KillaKans. They have a str. 6 ap 5 Heavy 2, blast and they are only 10 pts compared to 15 pts for rokkit.
The AoBR is an excellent buy, I got 4 ork halves and I couldn't be any farther from disappointment.
Good luck with your Waaagghh!!!!

You remember that? hahaha. I need to finish those. I need pictures, too. I think I'm gonna need that box of Meccano from my childhood, too :D
Pretty much, you can use what ever you want for stuff, but I think that (when it comes to Tournaments, or modelling competitions, and stuff) it's not allowed stuff from other modelling ranges. Of course, you could potentially scratch build everything, but that's not fair :P
EDIT: Okay, so, I just spent about 6 hours making the first proper killa kan (The first I made got a little... Crushed?). I don't have time for pics, seen as it's 2AM now, and I'm at college before 10, but I used:
The Wrecking ball from a trukk
A Land Speeder Typhoon Missile Launcher (as a grotzooka, naturally )
tyres and armour plates from the old ork trukk
A bottle cap
Meccano
A paint pot
Anyway, I'll try and get pics up tomorrow, but in the mean time, seen as it's less than 50 PTS for two blast templates of Imperial Guard insta kill, I think it's worth the grotzooka in all cases. If you really want, run them individually, and then give them the upgrade for Stunned=Shaken, and the Grots. Totally worth it to keep them running :)

When in doubt: shove more boyz down your opponent's throat.

It seems pretty close to the GW models size too. Great job.

Good job, but I'd rather shell out the extra coin of a real Kan. I just don't like being cheap, makes me feel all dirty inside.
