Hey guys,
My roommate plays Warhammer Fantasy and I'm trying to get him into Warhammer 40k as well. I heard that a lot of the demon models can be used in both a fantasy and 40k army, so I was thinking of getting him an HQ or troop choice that would fit that description. That way, he could use it for fantasy at home and 40k here. I know that he likes Tzneetch (sp?) the best.
Any suggestions on Tzneetch models that can be used for both?

While every deamon model in the line can be used in both systems (except the soul grinder, so literally every model in both the chaos deamons sections), the problem lies in the bases. The square bases mess up base to base in 40k, and the round bases can't rank. So unless you make it so your models can interchange the bases, you'll have a difficult time doing it.

The square bases don't screw up 40k as much as round bases screw up Fantasy though.
There are 2 options - Mount them on square bases. They can then fit all the requirements of both systems, but will look a bit odd in a game of 40k
OR
Mount them on round bases and use the LotR trays. Downside of that is that you get less models per rank than you would with the square bases.

I've used my 40k models in the standard trays for Warhammer Fantasy. Yes, you get 1 less model on a line but you can solve that by using modular trays or by a little cutting and glue.

If you feel incredibly fancy, I imagine it would be theoretically possible to attach all your models to their bases by magnets.
Not hugely practical, but far more practical than buying too armies
