Hello all. I'm here on behalf of my mother again (whose army I am heavily aiding in the design of). I was wondering what people like to do with their battlewagons. I don't have the codex on me at the moment, but I'll see what I can do. Her force is relatively piecemeal, without a completely clear direction (or even army list) yet. We've figured out that a mix of some footslogging units and some fast units would be good. Currently she has the AoBR forces with extra stuff, looks like this so far:

Warboss
- Power Klaw
- Twinlinked shoota

5 Nobz
- Slugga / Choppa

11 Boyz
- Big Shoota

20 Boyz
- 2 rokkit launchas

21 Boyz
- 1 Boy upgraded to Nob w/ Slugga/Choppa (he's the extra Nob I got with a White Dwarf)
- 2 Big Shootas

Trukk
- Not sure yet

3 Warbikers
I'll do Nob/Power Klaw if I have the bitz

3 Deffkoptas
- Rokkit Launchas

Battlewagon

I was thinking of giving the battlewagon the following:

Kannon
4x Big Shoota
'Ard Case
(Possible extra armor bits and other wargear I have yet to look into)

It's not Open Topped anymore, but I figured that her transports will be extra Trukks. I used a Kannon to go with the Big Shootas in the idea that, when it comes to killing things (even Space Marines) with BS2, multiple hits from a blast template that allow armor saves is better than one hit that doesn't, and while the other kannon mode isn't bad at taking down vehicles, Warbiker w/ PK and Deffkoptas are good for that anyway. I gave it 'Ard Case because it actually allowed another thing to be put in (which was going to house the Grabba Klaw until I realized it would be decently useless with this build, right?) and also because... to be honest, I think the model looks better that way, and since it is now functioning as a tank it needs to be a bit more protected.

Of course, it can still ferry 20 models to other places, they just can't ASSAULT from it. And I'm definitely advising her on having more than one battlewagon is she ever can afford it. ^^ (points wise)

Bare in mind that no matter WHAT you give it in weapons, if it's being used as a transport it's sort of counter-productive.
A Battlewagon moving full speed (which you'd want for transports) cannot fire a single shoota. Crawling along at half speed with weapons blazing and a unit inside will be a fire magnet, so that's a no-go.
I just gave mine Shootas, no Kannon, so once it's done it can lay down some anti-infantry Dakka. You can find pictures on the last page of my siglink.

Also remember that GW clarified in their FAQ update that Deffrollas are used when ramming a vehicle. If you have the rolla and put yourself in a position to ram someone else's tank, you add on an extra d6 S10 attacks against said tank.

If you do plan on taking the 'ard case and taking away the boys' ability to assault from the vehicle, you might consider taking a killkannon or some other big dakka. Maybe even stick a SAG Big Mek in there and fire off some big pie plates.

I'd need the bitz pack for the killkannon. Anyone know where that goes on?

Can I ask Battlewagon question please?

The Codex says a Battle Wagon can take one Big Gun but that it does not include crew. But I cannot find where in the Codex it says how much the crew cost or how many are required. Can someone direct me to the rule or or advise me on this please?

Cheers.

The disconnect here is where GW tries to differentiate the big gunz on the Wagon from the actual Big Gunz artillery units. The artillery units come with Grot crewmen, giving the Gunz a BS of 3. When they say the gunz on the Battlewagon do not come with crew, they are saying you must use the Wagon's BS of 2 for shooting those weapons. This should be covered in GW's Ork FAQ (http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m970066a_FAQ_Orks_Feb2010).
