Something a local Ork player pointed out to me. Use the Boarding Plank to have your Nob smash a transport open. then jump out and assault the occupents.

Legal? Viable? Game Breaking? Discuss.

It's not necessarily game breaking. I've seen it used before to good effect. Honestly surprised more people don't use it.

Where is this stated?

The rule says "A boarding plank allows a single embarked Ork to make its close combat attacks against an enemy vehicle within 2" exactly as if the Ork were disembarked and charging, provided neither vehicle moved more than 12"."

To me, that means the boarding plank attack occurs during the assault phase, which would make the tactic illegal.
