Alright, now this *seems* like a no-brainer ar first, but after looking over the entries again recently I'm not so sure.

I'll use the slot in my army for an example.

170 buys you...

10x Seekers

Karanak w/ 8 Hounds

The obvious advantages to the Seekers are that they have a higher A, higher I, grenades, and rending.

Hounds have higher Str, T, Furious Charge, Move Through Cover (granted by Karanak), and Blessing of the Blood God.

So we have 2 FAs with very different roles. Seekers excell at flushing infantry out of cover, and basically force a ton of saves. While Hounds are more survivable, can make better use of terrain, wound much more reliably, have decent odds vs AV (Karanak is Str 6 Rending on the charge), they can tarpit/kill anything with a Force Weapon with 2+ invuls, and they shrug off any wounds from psychic powers.

Honestly... Daemons have tons of stuff to deal with basic infantry... so I'm thinking Hounds are probably a good choice.

If you want Slaaneshi cavalry, I'd do it with Fiends. If you want good fun, max your Elites with Fiends and your FA with Hounds. That's some ridiculous speed and a lot of high strength attacks :P

Now I love Fiends as they've got the Str to do something pretty much wherever you put them. Cheap too imo.

Here's another point to lean people to hounds... the models don't look like dooky. :?

Edit: Seekers seem like they'd be a fire magnet. People will concentrate on the high number of attack and want them dead.

I take hounds in every list, and, to be honest, they aren't that great.

I use them as a cheap unit in my army that, if it does achieve something, it's good for me. But I don't expect much from them. You really have to place them right, and use their speed to get them in combat with heavy weapon squads and rears of armour 10 vehicles etc.

One game they wiped out a unit of imperial guard, the commander and his squad (after having ripped them out of their chimera) and then went on to help wipe out my enemy's entire section of heavy weapon squads. Not bad for 150pts.

In other games, they get shot and die...

So it's up to you.

I've tried hounds and they failed me on every occasion. With all of the things in the codex, I can think of 4 things I'd prefer to take over hounds.

I looked at the seekers and then just thought the same thing about them that I did about the daemonettes. Toughness of 3, 5+ invulnerable save means you have tot take huge units to get something in the enemy.

Both are in my honest opinion, point sinks to be avoided.

^ agree. i just bought some seekers because they look cool, but i have always stood by the fact that in an army that deep strikes EVERYTHING, there is no need for fast attack.

What about when you DS everything, can't assualt, and then all the metal boxes drive away?

Also, necro is bad -_-
