[I] Mali32 - Marcus Armovalidus
Character Information
Name: Marcus Armovalidus
Age: 89
Chapter: Destroyers
Rank: Techmarine
Description: From the very beginning of his life in the death spectres it was evident that he would be one to join the ranks of the Adeptus Mechanicus. He had a gift with machines. A capability to understand and repair them beyond the normal. Clearly he was blessed by the Machine God. The other clue was that he seemed to spend all his time without any eyebrows. Fellow brothers of both his chapter and, when he joined it, the Order learnt to instinctively duck at the sound of his personal warcry, discovered deep in the records of the AdMech during his first few weeks there: "STAND BACK! I'M ABOUT TO DO SCIENCE!" When he completed his training in the order and was sent back to his chapter to act as a tech priest amongst their ranks it wasnt long before he gained renown for his deadliness both stationary and on the move with his customary missile launcher. It wasn't long before he caught the attention of his superiors (it was only a near miss with the missile after all) and his transfer to the Deathwatch marines was approved in record time. After joining the Deathwatch the inquisitor marvelled at the amount destruction Marcus could wreak with limited resources during one of his first missions aboard a mysterious asteroid and decided to allow the marine to experiment a little in his own shielded quarters safely away from the reactors, ammo supplies and any other even slightly explosive materials.

He joined the Deathwatch in order to learn more from his brother marines, before returning and taking up his riteful position of 1st captain, an honour he earned during the battle, in which he led his veteran squad into a breach int he walls, the 10 of them slaughtering over 1000 Xeno's scum.

Alto killed many an Ork in his last mission to recover artifacts from an infested space station, and also lost his left arm, which has since been replaced with a bionic arm.

Name: Sigfried
Age: 129
Chapter: Mortifactors
Rank: Librarian

Description: Sigfried was an average battle brother until the day he asked his chaplain why his long dead brother was asking him about how many girls he got in his line of work. He was immediately tested, proved positive for psykic power, and thrown to the Librarium for training. Despite getting placed under Master Ven, a librarian known for his serious and often frightening attitude, nothing seemed to depress or sadden the marine. It was when his master was killed by a bloodthrister that Sigfried finally showed a hint of sadness, quickly followed by the rage that led him to take his master's sword and repeatedly slash at the daemon's neck until he completely severed it.

Sigfried was promoted to full librarian directly after and served with his chapter for another 20 years before he volunteered for Deathwatch duty. He'd learned all he could with his chapter, fighting foul daemons and sometime the orks, it was time to go learn a little more about the Imperium's other enemies and how best to kill them.

Name: Norm The Stoic
Age: 60
Chapter: Blood Angels
Rank: Devestator
Description: Despite his name, Norm the Stoic is quite obvious about his emotions. With his trusted Auto cannon barrel of laughs, he plows forward laying waste to those foolish enough to stay in front of the barrel for too long.

He was nominated, rather than volunteered, to join the death watch, mostly because his raucious laughter is somewhat irritating. He doesnt do well with stealth missions, preffering Hot lead over cold steel when it comes to fighting.

Serving since the founding of the Chapter, Edmund the Black has seen service with the Deathwatch enough times to leave no Inquisitor he works with doubting his loyalties. His loyalty to his Chapter are second to none, as is his loyalty to the Imperium he serves. This is the first mission he will have served for this particular Inquisitor, he hopes that although the Black Dragons are somewhat under suspicion a lot of the time that he'll be able to prove himself to this new Inquisitor, and therefore in some way help his Chapter to come in to the good graces of the Imperium once more.

He was taught and mentored by Ulrik himself, and has for his few years experienced more battles than most of his Brother Wolf Priests, save for a few of the oldest. Fierce in his battle manner, calm in his healing process, he is a Wolf who thinks with his mind and his heart, not simply his blade and bullets. Highly valued by Kjarl for his tactics in battle, and his love of fire, Av'lias was recommended for the Deathwatch reluctantly, and only because Login Grimnar himself requested it. Still a young pup in the Army of Russ, Av'lias Firemane fights to better himself in the eyes of his Lords and Chapter Leader, so as to one day stand next to Login Grimnar himselfin battle.

Age: 154
Chapter: Hawk Lords
Rank: Devastator Sergeant
Description: Aerial Thurm began as most scouts, a hard working team member. But on one mission his heavy bolter team member was downed by enemy fire, instead of giving suppressing fire with his bolter, he ran to his downed team mate and hefted the heavy weapon into use once more. The team exfiled after the mission and Aerial was awarded full Battle-brother status.
After a brief stint in a Tactical squad as the heavy weapon operative, he was transferred to a Devastator squad where he soon rose to the rank of Sergeant after the majority of his squad was eliminated and he took command upon himself. Showing great skill and ability, the Captain of the Company offered the Deathwatch his services as a superior heavy support marine. [X] Scythes - Valorus Tyranid Bane
Character Information
Name: Valorus Tyranid Bane
Age: 342
Chapter: Scythes of the Emperor
Rank: Vanguard Veteran Tyranid Hunter

Description: Being alive while his home planet of Sotha was still liveable, Valorus has an intense hatred for xenos, especially the Tyranid. He and his brothers have been known to leave a battle, which would be lost without them, for the chance to kill xenos elsewhere. Valorus prefers fighting the enemy up close with his long handled power scythe, Sotha's Vengeance, but knows a certain amount of discretion and will stand back and form a firing line when the need arises. Of course, this discretion goes out the window when fighting the Tyranid as he will go into a fiery rage and charge even the largest of these xenos beasts.

Valorus collects teeth or claws of especially difficult foes on a cord which he can be seen holding before a battle. He carries a storm bolter, using hellfire rounds against all foes, large or small, and prefers the blast radius of a frag grenade from his underslung grenade launcher to the more powerful high explosive krak shells. The larger the kill zone, the better.

He can be heard yelling "Death to Xenos!" as he charges into a fight, a battlecry that sometimes confuses his brothers when they are fighting heretics and other non-xenos enemies.

Valorus has been a member of the Deathwatch for nearly two centuries, shortly after Sotha and the majority of his chapter were destroyed by Hive Fleet Kraken.

However, he is also a highly skilled melee warrior, earning him the utmost respect even from the Vanguard half of the 1st Company. Augustus is a fiercely loyal warrior, whose stubbornness and pride in his martial skills, even in the face of innumerable foes, has resulted in many victories for him and his battle-brothers, as well as putting him on the receiving end of many near-miss experiences.

Character Information
Character Name: James, The Night Eagle
Character Age: 497
Characters Chapter: Red Templars
Characters Rank: Vanguard Veteran Sergeant
Characters Description: James is a very old and respected marine. He has been in countless battles against all types of foe. He has faced the Tau before on many occasions and found them to be an interesting challenge. Due to being old James has had the chance not many get, to create wargear for the chapter’s arsenal. James’s wargear is very unique in that he has made every part of it himself. So far he has created 5 pieces of this specialised wargear and has named them the Night’s bound. James’s primary field involves sudden stealth attacks. He will quickly find the most valuable member of the opposition and eliminate them without a sound. He will then fall back and wait for the cries of alarm. He then strikes swiftly and silently gliding towards his foes, making each shot count before tearing them up in assault. It isn’t just his wargear that he has created; only many occasions he has been asked by the adepts to help forge new weapons, primarily scout weapons. Despite being quit old, James has never served with the Deathwatch before. When he saw an opportunity he volunteered and was graciously accepted. Upon reviewing the rest of his team he has found them to be quick thinking but lacking in grace. It’s been awhile since he has joined the younger marines in battle, preferring the cool confidence that age brings. Maybe these ones can sway his mind?

Characters Description:

One of the many White Scar speed fiends who was sent to the deathwatch to aid in taking worlds with particularly hostile climates, where foot-trudging was not an option. Off the bike, Brother Phil is quiet and unassuming, but still a decent close combat warrior. Try not to offend him, otherwise he will place you in his individual book of grudges, which he will "take up with you" at a later date.

By "take up with you" he means, "try to find you, kill you, and mount your head in his room on the inquisitor's ship" so just be a bit careful. He's easily provoked, but quiet when left alone.

With his growing experience came a beard to match, and scars to show for it. The combined length of the hair on his head could easily rival that of a full-adult Fenrisian Wolf. He quickly ascended through the ranks to become a Wolf Priest, which bore him many scars from battle. Much like his comrades, he stores a deep rivalry hatred for the Ultramarines, and will always try to outdo them in battle. On his left shoulder, he bares a scarred tattoo of the Ultramarine's U with a blue-grey cross through the middle.

TFG, can you change my secondary weapon to a Bolt Pistol since the Shotgun is no longer a 1H weapon?

Thatfatguy
8th September 2010, 23:54
leave it as a one handed weapon, just have it across your back :p

Leonix
9th September 2010, 00:08
leave it as a one handed weapon, just have it across your back :p
Works for me... I'll assume its a special "short" version :p

Mali32
9th September 2010, 00:22
I was kinda planning on dual wielding power axe and infernus pistol. Guessing i cant do that with the 2H axe so can i have it as a 1H power axe. Thinking 2 power axes an infernus pistol and a hand flamer makes me pretty nasty in cc. :P

Leonix
9th September 2010, 02:06
Question... How much do we know about the Tau? My guy is about as new as it gets to be a marine, and I know off the top of my head just about everything there is o know about Tau, so I'm having a little trouble drawing a line to what is known to my character.

Thatfatguy
9th September 2010, 12:59
You will know all the basic information, command structure, septs, the fact they take in other races.

This will have been sleep taught to you as a member of the Death Watch

The Dark Pwner
9th September 2010, 17:47
You got me down as having 70 seeking rounds when they should be stalker rounds. Just making sure.

Thatfatguy
9th September 2010, 21:41
fixed that now

t0k0l0v3r
10th September 2010, 07:32
hey, tfg, will there be any sort of maps going on? mostly cause im wondering how i got surrounded by tau.

Novasry
10th September 2010, 08:48
Toko, we drop podded into a tau infested town, how can that not happen!?

t0k0l0v3r
10th September 2010, 08:50
i understand that much, i just thought i was sticking someplace close to you all. Norm may be a little over zealous, but not stupid.

scythes
10th September 2010, 13:22
You're all surrounded, not just you toko. The whole team in the drop pod.

SGS
10th September 2010, 15:01
So TFG, just to get my bearings right. Is the drop pod team somewhere in the middle of the city while the thunderhawk team deployed somewhere at the city limits? I'm a little confused at where everyone is at (as it seems most of the thunderhawk team believes they dropped off next to the pod.)

Thatfatguy
10th September 2010, 15:30
The Drop Pod is in the centre of the town, while the thunderhawk is at the outer limits, I will explain this to the newer players

scythes
10th September 2010, 18:45
Nice shooting for me there TFG, 8 shots, 8 kills, and from a storm bolter! Maybe that armour polishing bet should be reset to accuracy!

And I know I'm on the outskirts of town, I'm just trying to clear the immediate area so we can get our bearings and start moving toward the drop pod team.

Xarboth
10th September 2010, 20:37
Hey, if we're going off accuracy, I'm on 7 kills from 7 shots from by Bolter so far. 100% accuracy FTW! *High-Fives Scythes*

The Dark Pwner
10th September 2010, 20:38
Im confused. If the thunderhawk is nowhere near the battle then why are two others from the thunderhwk able to kill tau?

Xarboth
10th September 2010, 20:43
Because the entire town is overrun with Tau - so we're shooting Tau but a different group of Tau than the Drop Pod guys. Get shooting!

The Dark Pwner
10th September 2010, 20:44
So whats near us....he didnt say what, if anything was near...

Xarboth
10th September 2010, 20:52
The thunderhawk shudders as it comes in to land a little outside the tau filled town, the signs of a firefight are obvious, and several tau stand guard outside the city, and immediatly start shooting as soon as they spot the thunderhawk.

Post number 116 on page 12 of the thread. :001:

The Dark Pwner

Oh opps...sorry then.

Xarboth
10th September 2010, 21:05
It's actually very easy to miss or mis-read a post in this kind of game actually. Especially when there are 2 different storylines at the same time. I'm finding it very difficult to keep track of who's where, so am just having to properly read every single post in case I miss something!

Arlins
10th September 2010, 21:11
perceivere fellas , its actually very interesting to follow .

Thatfatguy
10th September 2010, 22:33
thank you arlins

Leonix
10th September 2010, 23:01
TFG, are we still being encouraged to use Xeno tech (if we want to) by the Inquisitor like before?

Thatfatguy
10th September 2010, 23:22
this inquisitor is a little bit more hardlined, but he does want as much technology recovered for study as possible

scythes
11th September 2010, 00:21
17 dead Tau, 8 shots and a frag grenade, I'm almost two kills for each action now! Something like 188% accuracy! Go! Go! Go!

Do you think you could list who is with which team? Team 1, team 2, team red, team blue, whatever. :)

Xarboth
11th September 2010, 07:28
From what I can make out, in the first post of this thread is the list of 13 players, and the first 6 of that list were on the drop pod, everyone else on the Thunderhawk? I may be wrong though. So...

Team 1:
Mali32 - Marcus Armovalidus
Novasry - Alto Du'Lance
SGS - Sigfried
t0k0l0v3r - Norm the Stoic
Edmundblack - Edmund the Black
Cordova - Amuras

Team 2:
LneWlf - Av'lias Firemane
Geo-Dude - Aerial Thurm
Leonix - Leon Blacksun
Scythes - Valorus Tyranid Bane
Xarboth - Augustus Sinarii
Darklord2831 - Valdus Kalmorin
The Dark Pwner - James, The Night Eagle

Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Thatfatguy
11th September 2010, 16:00
the old players were in the drop pod, the new players are not.

The first page of the actual rpg thread lists the old players and new players, if you weren't in the original death watch at the end of the last game, your in the 2nd team

I'm this is a stupid question, but it just occured to me I'm a Vanguard Veteran, do I have a jump pack? And if it just hasn't been brought up, can I have one?

TFG, can we get some stats for the weapons?

I'm not asking for the exact numbers of your system, but somthing that can give an idea like a simple ranking system maybe... Or is your system very close to the normal 40K system?

I mainly ask for being able to choose the rite tool for the job, so I can avoid like what happened to Uriel Recant on Orkiroid Station.

Also if it ok to suggest item, and effects from WH40K sources other than the codexs?

Thatfatguy
15th September 2010, 21:57
I don't have a system for weapons per se, I simply use the fluff to gauge the strength, which would be 1-10, and act accordingly.

Aka, a Bolter against an infantry would be 8, while against a tank it would be a 2, unless you used the AP rounds, then it would be a 4 against infantry and 7 against armoured foes

I see... In that case can you give us some of that info, because I'm currently under the impression that a Shogun is > a Frag Grenade Vs everything except groups due to thinking Codex, and I dunno what fluff stats your going by?

Thatfatguy
16th September 2010, 17:20
the shotgun depends on the distance from the target you are at as well as how close together the group are, a shotgun at a distance in an open area will be 1-2, wheeas one close up in a tight area would be 8-9, there is a lot of information, I will see about transferring it to paper soon.

TFG, I think my ammo count's wrong. From what I can work out I have 9 magazines of Bolter ammo and 15 for my bolt pistol? It should be 10 magazines for each, but the bolter mags hold 20 rounds where the BP mags hold 10, is that right? And I need the frag grenade back. The Tau tried so kindly to give it back but it exploded mid-air

SGS

Likely just a type-o, we're allowed all sorts of fun stuff. It's just really rare stuff like advanced armours and certain weapons that you have to kill a few hundred xeno for.

Is there anyway I can regain some of the psykic powers I had in the first DW? I feel Blood Lance would be very useful against my mortal enemy........the battlesuit. Hammer Hand would be nice for getting out of my current situation, much like when I had to bust through an elevator shaft door on the orkoid station

Pretty please with loads of BBQ and loot on top?

SGS
12th October 2010, 16:22
Just hold him steady and I'll shoot him in the head with my tiny little tau gun and give the occasional gut punch.

The thing you have to remember is he may sport a mutation or two but he's almost just like us, and we outnumber him by a lot. Also make sure to hit him hard in the head if he starts saying ANYTHING that doesn't sound like high or low gothic, no sense in taking the chance he's a sorcerer.

Sidenote: If he's possessed by a daemon then you should by all means fear for your life.

Hey TFG, is there any chance of updates to kill counts, or are they just too much effort? What was the traitor marine that I killed? Was he just a normal traitor marine, or was he higher up than that?

Thatfatguy
27th October 2010, 20:52
I stopped updating kill counts and the like a while ago, partly because of the added effort which turned the job from an half hour job to a much longer one, and partly due to the fact a lag error on my computer missed several edits

Xarboth
27th October 2010, 20:59

Bit difficult, I've noticed TFG's been saying "You managed to kill some Kroot" and "You took a few Traitors with you" - i.e. no exact numbers for the tally.

Your soul is the play thing of daemons for the rest of time. I'm sure you've already forgotten about the arm.

But hey, it was nothing personal. You were just the only one who decided to come with me, I knew someone would. If only you heard the sweet whispers that I did, maybe we would've stood as brothers and slaughtered the group instead of facing off as foes. Alas, fate can be so cruel at times.

chaos deathwatch? sound like fun, hehe

SGS
31st October 2010, 00:01
You guys should join the Chaos side if you die. We get daemons as allies, can commit truly horrific acts and get rewarded for it, and have all the sex, drugs, and cookies you could EVER want (Note: Sex, Drugs, and Cookies are associated with Slaanesh worship). Aside from that it would be nice to have some reliable help in killing off the rest of the group. I mean lets face it, out of all the Chaos marines that have shown up so far there has been 1 other kill for our side that wasn't done by me in a dark room, and I've only been on the job for a maximum of 2 hours.

My good t0k0, you stand on the verge of something great. If ever someone has the excuse to use a high velocity, high explosive, self loading dildo cannon it is a Slaaneshy Obliterator.

Not sure whether to be repulsed or impressed. but yeah. my character was volun-told to join deathwatch. as long as he keeps killing things with large, massive weaponry, he's happy. if he never has to worry about ammo again, so much the better. if he can carry 4-5 different weapons in one arm, so much the better.

If you want to do that do it on the game

SGS

I'm just putting the option up for them. That, and it's hard to corrupt them in the game. Most are narrow minded Emprah loyal marines who'd rather live in their dark little caves then walk outside and see the sun.

Actually this one probably wont start again for a short while as TFG's moving on to a different rpg. However there are several good rpgs on the forum you could try getting in on such as the ORkPG (http://www.40kforums.com/vb/showthread.php/26540-WAAAAAAAAGH!-Git-Ready-ya-Skumbos!-It-s-Ork-time!) (also run by TFG), Godless (http://www.40kforums.com/vb/showthread.php/26786-Godless-Recursion) (run by t0k0l0v3r) and TFG's going to be starting a Magic RPG (http://www.40kforums.com/vb/showthread.php/26970-Future-game-Magic-Game) sometime after deathwatch has finished. There are also several other Forum RPGs to be found either via the Games Discussion (http://www.40kforums.com/vb/forumdisplay.php/28-Games-Discussion) forum or the Active Games (http://www.40kforums.com/vb/forumdisplay.php/24-Active-Games) forum. Hope you join in with some of these. :D
