Just a small question on the allocation of these things. Does an IC count as a separate unit when determining Pain Tokens?
I.E. If a Wolf Lord is attached to a unit of Grey Hunters, do you get a pain token for obliterating the Grey Hunters and one for the Wolf Lord, or do you have to wipe them both out to get the Pain Token?
We played that they grant a Pain Token each as once the Grey Hunters are gone, the Wolf Lord becomes (effectively) a whole unit unto himself. Also that they would grant a Kill Point each, and not just 1 for the whole combination.

I would assume so, as although they're joined together, they're still two "units" but one just happens to be an IC. Another way to look at it I suppose would be that if it gives a Kill Point, you get a Pain Token (vehicles the obvious exception).

yes it would count as two differant pain tokens, even if the IC is in the squad

Depends. IC's never join/ leave units unless in the movement phase. If you shot the GH's around from under the Lord, you don't get the pain token, because he still counts as part of the GH unit, until the start of the SW player's turn. Don't confuse Kill points with how pain tokens work.
Because here's another facet of that argument. If we play that
becomes (effectively) a whole unit unto himself. during the opponent's shooting phase, since the accompanying unit was shot out from aruond him, then 2 issues come up.
Can you charge him?
If we went with "becomes (effectively) a whole unit unto himself."
No, because the unit you shot at no longer exists. You can only charge what you shot at, exception transports and passengers.
This is wrong btw, you would still be able to charge the IC, even if you shot the accompanying unit, because the IC is still a part of that unit, even if you killed all of them in your shooting phase.
Does the IC have to take a Morale Check? How does this work with Fearless IC's that joined non-Fearless units. IE Abaddon in terminators?
If we went with "becomes (effectively) a whole unit unto himself."
Then, no, because he's Fearless now
Which is also wrong, because he was a part of a non-fearless unit to begin with, lost fearless, the unit suffered 25% casualties, now has to take a morale check. In the owning player's turn he becoems fearless, and auto-rallies
So if you shot at a unit and all was left was the IC that was attached, you don't get the Pain token, imho, until you kill the IC OR until the beginning of the owning player's turn, when that IC is no longer part of the unit. Delayed gratification, if you will.
