Hey, I am new to the Necrons and just got Nightbringer, a battleforce, and another destroyer to start off my force. Any reccomendations on what I should get next? I know I am going to buy another Battleforce, a couple of lords, and a Monolith, but besides that, what else should I get? What are the best Elite choices?

Necron Elites aren't that great to be honest. They're OK, but you'd be better off with Destroyers or Heavy Destroyers.

haha that was my guess. So basically buy nothing but warriors, lords, monoliths, and the destroyers?

I still have a lot of fun with the Flayed Ones, and even more so the Scarabs. And occassionally they actually kill something!

This would be true, except that Immortals are in that group. For my 1850 list has two groups of 9 Immortals. They are incredible at wearing down any exposed enemy infantry, would on 2's/3's, can threaten DE/Side AV of Chimeras, and are great at surviving because of T5 and a 3+ Armor 4+ WBB. Also, since their guns are assault, they can always move where they need to be and bring the pain.

I was looking at the Immortals again and I can see the use, but it does seem to be easier to include them at higher point values than lower ones. Is it a good idea to stay basic in the lower point values and then get more interesting the higher up they go?

Basic in lower points games whilst you get used to them and the game is a great idea. Necrons are fantastic, because you can buy two battleforce boxes, a Lord and a Codex and you've a 1500 point army straight from the box (minus the scarabs). Higher up, you can easily get in Monoliths and more Destroyers. Immortals I've never faced to be honest, but they do look cool - and that'd be reason enough for me to take them. :D

Also worth noting that Pariahs are not Necrons for purposes of the WBB rule, no matter how cool they sound.

My progression of Necrons goes like this.

500 Points-
Lord- Destroyer Body, Warscythe- 140 Points
2x 10 Warriors- 360 Points

750 Points
Lord- Res Orb- 140 Points
2x 10 Warriors- 360 Points
5x Destoyers- 250 Points

1000 Points
Lord- Res Orb- 140 Points
2x 10 Warriors- 360 Points
5x Destroyers- 250 Points
9x Immortals- 252 Points

From here I will add a Monolith to take me to 1250, then another unit of Immortals, then a Destroyer lord, wraiths, and scarabs to bring me up to 1850. The list works very well. =)

Alright sounds good!

How are you doing your immortals? Are you actually buying the Metal, or are you doing one of the conversions? There are a ton online that I have seen, and I think I will just spend the time converting someday.

I actually use the old Out of Production (OOP) warriors. You can find them on ebay, usually around 7 used ones for thirty dollars. A bit more expensive then plastic warriors, but they look very immortally, and will save you lots of money!
