Hello guys,

I would need a serious help from you 40k veterans. As I am almost happy with my current Dark Elf army, I think about building a 40k force. It will take me a lot of time to build a basic army (literally years) and my knowledge of the 40k rules is insufficient yet. At the same time, I am desperate about the time I can dedicate to painting and modeling, which is very limited. Still, in the first years, I will spend much more time with PM than with gaming itself.

I would need you to advise on a 40k armylist, SM + SOB. Yes, please build me a list! I don’t want to spend months painting units that will be of no use in the future. I cant spend the time studying all the rules now to design my own “optimal” list. I have most of the rules so I can check whatever your advise, I just don’t have time to study all the subchapter armybooks to finally say “Yes! Black templars with Canoness… etc.” I am sure there is enough generals experienced enough, who will find pleasure in such expert work! And its for the Emperor!

What I expect of the list:

1) It will be strongly about models. VYSIVYG, nice. I do not seek a purely functional army, but a beautiful one AND effective at the same time.

2) The army should combine Space Marines and Sisters of Battle. Not sure, which army should be the “parental”, the rules are not clear to me at the time, the advantages of one or another. Probably ratio 50:50 of the infantry models should be SM:SOB, if it makes sense.

3) The army should involve armor, tanks, Land Raider, if sensible

4) It should be a viable army, balanced, universal. Usable for tournaments, not depending purely on luck, specific terrain, specific scenarios, etc.

5) I will build the army gradually, compulsory parts first, any other later.
Advise on this progress as well pls., what to build first, what next etc.

6) I like different Space Marine models and different Sisters models. I don’t like very much the Witchhunters “perverted religion” models, like Penitent engine or the tank with organ, it is too excentric IMHO. Sisters Repentia are O.K. on the other hand! Don’t like very much the motorbikes, but Land Speeders are O.K. The flying Assault SM look better than Seraphim to me. Terminators are nice, Dreadnought is superb! Callidus assassins are cool!

7) I have no clue about the different SM chapters. Space wolves, Black templars…… The basic description on GW pages etc. of course tells nothing real, one needs to know details of the rules!

I plan following color scheme, in case it helps you imagine my idea:

SM: white (grey to white) with simple black crosses as insignia, much in the 12th century Crusaders style.

Sisters: mostly black with white elements, color scheme much like nuns.

Armor: grey / white camouflage.

Big thanks to all of you who will contribute!!! Now you are building more than just your army!

erm, am I missing something?
It's going to take you 'years' to get this sm/sob army together yet you don't have time/funds to buy the sm & witch hunters codexes? (i.e. £24 or $46 approx)

p.s. "VYSIVYG" ???
"Vot you see is vot you get"? :?

Thank you for this less than usefull comment. Yes, you are missing a lot. You would not miss it, if you red the post first. Please comment on topic, if it is within your capabilities.

Thanks again

get the codex/es that you need then make the list your self, we can then help you make the list better from our experiances. a forum does not give out an army list and such cause someone asks for it, as it ill not suit what they think, this is your hobby so it is best for you to decide on your own, don't worry about effctive units and all that go by what you like. so if you give us an army list based on what you would like to see in your army (no not that description of what you think looks cool) but an army list we can then help out more.

make the lists as i have said, it is for the best. we can then go on from there.

as regards to question 5, all i can say is eh? to make an amrmy is exactly like fantasy, build the core units first, then a leader for the force then everything else.

Sorry guys but such answers are really loss of your time. I dont need you to explain me about the hobby, and I have the codexes, as I already wrote initially. Are you able to help with the lists? Because this, and only this is what I am asking for.

so we are supposed to give up OUR free time to make YOUR army list?
nopt how it works bud, besides that do you really think that your gonna get any help if you insist on acting like a complete arse?

as i have just said, make the list YOURSELF then we can help you make it better, we do not know how you play, what you like, what enemies you fight more often so we cannot help you out one bit. if you make a list up your self then we can happily help you out to make it better.

simple as that.

Ya. I'm liking how you're asking people to do all the work and acting like a prick. I know that makes me feel motivated to help you.

Just to waste some more of your oh-so precious time:
1) Learn what this hobby is actually about
2) Try and understand how insulting it is to "red" (as you wrote,) a post such as yours.
3) Don't go and end-up suffering the same fate as your namesake or anything, it'd be a waste of heat

My suggestion - start again and be more understanding of what it is WE are saying to you too.

Knock up a rudimentary army list with those units which you like, or would like to use and as for a Space Marine and Sisters of Battle army goes, you'd need to ally one to the other, or induct (more complicated and a waste of time).

Read this for an overview of allying units;-

http://www.40kforums.com/cms_view_article.php?aid=50

(this is not for self glorification purposes, but the allies question comes up LOADS).

I'll start you off - get an HQ unit and two troops sorted. As for what they are and what they do, that's upto you.

Bullshit. Arrogant people "answering" questions never asked.

We CANNOT HELP WITH A LIST THAT HAS NOT EVEN BEEN CONCEIVED!

Start again, and take the advice given. Then you will get somewhere. Why should we just write the whole thing for you?
