Hobby Challenge 2011- Quarter 1

Okay guys, here's the next challenge. We know there was a break in the Challenges, but we mods wanted to have a way to reward members who completed their challenges. With medals gone, we needed a way to replace them. The replacement is a place on the Honor Roll, a thread that will be stickied and locked at in the PCA forum. All members who have completed their challenges will receive a post in the thread with a quote of their challenge and a picture of it completed. The Honor Roll will contain all future Challenges, so we should accumulate a cool pool of completed challenges.

You have until the 21st of January to chop and change your challenge, after which the Hobby Challenge will be locked You get until the 31st of March to complete your challenge You may nominate any number of models/scenery/etc from any game system by any company, including ones you've started working on If you complete your challenge, a quote of your challenge and a picture of the completed models/terrain/etc will be posted in our new Challenge Completed Honor Roll thread. The next Hobby Challenge should run consecutively (ie begin nominations on March 24, locked April 14th, ends June 30th). Yes, you can be featured in the thread more than once We do, of course, thoroughly encourage you to maintain blogs :) However, if you'd rather not, updates with pictures are more than welcome in this thread, or a link to the blog you are keeping track in.
To receive a place in the Honor Roll, you must post a picture of your completed challenge before April 3rd.

Basically this is your challenge to get what you want out of the painting/modelling side of the hobby for the next 3 months. How hard you make your challenge is up to you (hopefully you will set yourselves worthy goals, but it's up to you to balance it against real life etc, by having the conditions loose, we hope to make this as inclusive as possible), the only "moderation" will be locking the challenge down and adding members to the Challenge Completed Honor Roll

Nice-to-haves don't cause you to fail the challenge ;)

Punishment is an optional extra :)

I, The Undersigned, swear on the Holy emperors left testicle, that I shall complete 2000 points of my Lost Crusaders Space Marine chapter. This includes the following to be finish:

1 Standard Marines, 5 Assault Terminators, 3 Razorbacks, 5 Sword Brethren, a Chaplain, a Land Raider Crusader and an Emperors Champion.

It would also be preferable to build and paint two Vindicators or Predators (or any combination of the two.) However this is limited to budget restrictions.

Fully paint to the highest possible standard within my being 23 Grots, including a Head Honcho, Banna Wava and Makari, including shading, highlights, building tones and washes.

Nice-to-have:
Anywhere up to 61 Grots (all the Grots I own) to the standard outlined above.
A Grot Special Character (from my Rebel Grot codex!) to the standard outlined previously.
Anything for the Rebel Grot codex.

Punishment:
I will allow TFG to select an avatar that I must use for all of April.

I, MadHatter5045, will assemble and paint my first Flesh Tearers assault squad (9 marines + Priest + Rhino), the cockpit interior + crew of the Thunderhawk and finish painting my Plague Hulk.

Nice to have a squad of assault Terminators assembled and have the Thunderhawk's hull base coated as well.

If I should fail, I will once again let Lucian mangle my avatar and edmundblack add something to my signature, both of which I will use for the entire month of April.

18 Dire avengers, 5 wraithguard, 5 fire dragons, 1 warlock, 1 farseer, 1 falcon, 1 fire prism, 3 wave serpents.

complete and paint a 5 man SM Terminator close combat squad *COMPLETED
to complete and paint Marneus Calgar and honour guard *COMPLETED

and finally to clean and paint/restore a SM Razorback and Predator purchased this week from ebay that show no detail through the numerous layers of paint. *COMPLETED

A tall order me thinks but this challenge is exactly what need to get me going.
In addition I promise to help my son assemble and paint his numerous necron items he got for christmas.
NECRON MONOLITH AND SQUAD OF WARRIORS COMPLETED.

If I fail, As a punishment: I will give free and gratis the first person to ask for them a full set of alternative coloured rods for a monolith including the larger rods that go in the side walls of the monolith, in either flourescent Red, Blue, Green or Yellow.

I'm moving house next weekend and finally getting aplace of my own so I should be able to pick up a brush a LOT more frequently than now. To this end, and to push myself a little bit:

A lot of these are built and undercoated, and whilst they are Necrons, I'm aiming for a fairly high standard and will be hopefully working the details well. It's also more than I've painted since I've started the hobby back up ;)

Today i put together half a wave serpent...Then I went to work and came home...tomorrow I have the day off so might...might....might pick up a paintbrush for the first time in 3 years.

Yeah, I know. While trying to glue his torso to the legs that were already glued, I had a glue overflow! I quickly wiped off as much as I could but the glue I use hardens real fast, this good because then I don't have to hold to pieces together for a long time, but down side is what you see here.

In a surprising turn of events I may well get all the infantry done.
Just depends on how fast i can produce 5 grav tanks after that.

My productions for the challenge went from 1 model in 80 days to 3 models in 8 hours.....with only 2 shifts to work between now and the 31st i may actually pull this off.....if I don't sleep at all.

Well it's going to be tiiiiiiight (<- also not Arch), took Eltharion apart due to dissatisfaction with super glue, so need to araldite Stormwing back together, and only done 1 Horror. I've basically got Friday, and Monday night to do it.............. :(

Spent 3 hours on and off working on Stormwing tonight, nearly had it finished and the sodding superglue on the base gave out resulting in the loss of wing and claw as the araldite had not quite set.
