I'm starting a necron army so I've made a couple of lists to decide which is better.

I wanted to do a list with a LOT of warriors...

List 1

HQ

Necron Lord
Res. Orb
Phylactery - 155

Necron Lord
Res. Orb - 140

Troops

Warriors x 15 - 270

Warriors x 15 - 270

Warriors x 11 - 198

Warriors x 11 - 198

Fast Attack

Destroyers x 3 - 150

Destroyers x 3 - 150

Heavy Support

Monolith - 235

Monolith - 235

2001

List 2

Necron Lord
Res. Orb
Veil of Darkness - 200

Necron Lord
Res. Orb - 140

Troops

Warriors x 15 - 270

Warriors x 15 - 270

Warriors x 15 - 270

Warriors x 15 - 270

Fast Attack

Scarabs x 7
Disruption fields - 112

Heavy Support

Monolith - 235

Monolith - 235

2002

I like the first list for the mobility of the destoyers but I like the 2nd list for the LOTS of Warriors

I may drop a couple of destroyers and the phylactery from the first list and add in the Veil on a lord and add a couple of warriors back in...

So... List 3

HQ

Necron Lord
Res. Orb
Veil of Darkness - 200

Necron Lord
Res. Orb - 140

Troops

Warriors x 15 - 270

Warriors x 14 - 252

Warriors x 14 - 252

Warriors x 12 - 216

Fast Attack

Destroyers x 4 - 200

Heavy Support

Monolith - 235

Monolith - 235

2000 exactly.

I'm thinking I may go with the last list because it's not over points wise.

I think a Veil is useful at such point games, especially for objectives or just getting out of combat.

Except you have two Monoliths to do so! SO I'd not even bothe rgetting the veil. Asfor the lists, the first is definatly the best with a solid amount of xwarriors, two supporting lords (ofcourse), 2 long range fire support squads and then two monoliths for close range dakka dakka and also supporting the warriors.

Always have destroyers in groups of 2, because 4 T5 models aren't hard to take down, and when they have done so, boom, all gone.

And warriors squads, ALWAYS even numbers for scoring and such.

Lord, Orb, Chronometron (14 points left...)

Lord, Orb

16 Warriors
16 Warriors
10 Warriors
10 Warriors

3 Destroyers

3 Destroyers

2 Monoliths

Basicly tehe first list!

Yeah I realized the squads should be even after I finished posting. So you reckon the veil isn't worth it? I'd like to have it so that i can teleport with out having to not use the particle whip.

Wouldn't it be better to have the squads a bit more even? so like 14,14,12,12?

Also does the lord in the unit count for the 50% thing? I forget... because if it does then would it be good to have 2 un-even squads to put the lords with?

Should I make my second lord a destroyer lord? that way the destroyers wont be out of range of the orb... and I know its really annoying when destroyers keep getting back up from wbb.

keep both lords on foot to support the warriors. Because of their long range and high speed your destroyers should not have any trouble with PW weilding enemys and if your opponet is shooting S10 weapons at your destroyers to deny them their WBB, you chuckle at his stupidity at not using those weapons against your 'liths.

A VoD would be nice so as to not waste a particle whip, but the only thing I see that you can remove for it is some warriors. Keep in mind though that every time you use the 'lith portal on a squad those who failed their WBB get to try again. (example: 8 out of 14 warriors fall, LD check passed, your turn only 3 of the downed 8 get up again, teleport that squad with the 'lith and those 5 who failed WBB get to try again.

The Lord doesn't count towards the 50% - I'd go with more even squads, like 14 and 12. Put the lords in the smaller squads. I like List 1 the best.

Alright theres what my list will most likely be. There's 14 points left but I don't think I should spend it on useless wargear so that my enemy doesn't get extra victory points. If the opponent I'm playing against doesn't mind me being 1 point over I will add Phylactery to one of the Lords.

If you are going to be one point over then take Gaze of Flame instead of Phylactery. It is much better for a support lord.

Destroyers should never have a guarding lord.

Combat should never occur, even vs things that can fleet, move or assault 12" etc.

And S10 stuff will indeed be laughed on by the Monoliths.

I like the new list alot! Will you also be getting the phalanx? If so, I'd get it from http://www.gwonline.biz which offers 20% off and free shipping to UK.

Why is it that whenever I see a Cron army/list, there is never a tombspider in it? I always thought to have a Spider because it can repair almost any unit?

I will use the phalanx for apocolypse but I will just buy another single monolith, I don't really need 5...

I tested this army last night and it did very well... I only lost 3 destroyers and maybe 5 or 6 warriors, although the game was against a newbie I was teaching th game...
