Howdy fellow Daemon Lords!

Since reading a few battle reports in the last couple of months, and reading more and more of the 40k novels, I've been drawn into the world of Chaos Daemons. I love the models and have always been intruiged by their different style of play in the game (from an observers point of view having never played against them myself).
Last week I had a copy of the Codex in my hands but put it back as I haven't even started on my Tyranid army yet!

However, yesterday I finally give in, strangely, after reading the GK QQ thread and ran to the games store where I live to pick up a copy of Codex: Chaos Daemons :)
I'm loving it so far and I haven't even gotten to the stage of looking seriously at the stats within!

My initial thoughts are that Tzeentch and Khorne are going to be the first focal points but I like them all so probably won't have any problem with looking at a balanced army between the Four.

Any advice on where to start? I'm not going to be looking at collecting any models for a little while yet as I need to put together my Tyranids and get going with them first. I'd like to get to 1.5k with them before I start looking at another army :)

Anyway I'm excited and will be posting some ideas for lists soon for some advice etc.

quick breakdown of the main uses of the gods:
Khorne= kill things, lots of things, very quickly.
tzeentch= shoots things. nuff said.
Slaanesh= very fast units, hit fairly hard too. Lots of rending models.
Nurgle= survivability. his guys usually refuse to die.

Yeah, I 've got Necrons as my main force so things that don't die are a bit lower down on that list. The blood frenzied Khorne sound very appealing as does the conniving Tzeentch and his shooty minions.
I've had a quick look of some of the units and I really like the bloodletters (all power weapons?! Yes please!) and the flamers. I've heard about the flamers before but now understand where some of their infamy come from.

Loving some of the stories too :D Made some good lunchtime reading :)

yeah flamers, while expensive are worth it, IMO. 4+ auto wound template? yes please. Ask scythes about em. I killed his squad of 3 carnifexes with em. very nasty.

Yeah! And no saves allowed?! Brilliant!

Sadly I forgot about the Horrors and briefly thought that the Flamers were Troops :( How awesome would that have been hehe.

Going to pour over the HQ choices tonight and should have my first list done up tomorrow.

Man, I'm pretty excited to play with these guys but I'm a loooong way off buying any :?

No. Invulnerable saves may be taken. They're also pretty useless once they're dead. :P They are fearsome though, I loathe them with a passion.

Look up the Article which Pyro wrote. What he doesn't know about Daemons and how to use them isn't worth knowing.

Yeah, between pyro and the rest of the chaos daemons players you have all the knowledge you need. And flamers as troops, while expensive would be TOTALLY worth it.

I would. I so would.

Beah, I knew about the Invunerable saves :P But going from a lot of Ork Boyz it's a novel experience to get lots of power weapons ;)

Hmm I don't remember seeing that tactica... I'll go find it now.

Oh Pyro. I'm sorry. But it would seem that we are to become friends*.... ENJOY :)

*friends: Being harrassed by a (usually drunk) Scotsman with Chaos questions.

Fateweaver; worth it? He's pretty expensive and not sure whether or not all the re-rolls would justify his points as his stat isn't that impressive.
