Delighted to see a shelter from the winds Ethelinda investigates the caves carefully..who knows? might find treassure!!

There is no treasure (there is only Zul). Also something big and furry

Naron looks about for a space to sit and observe the smiths work their craft. He always found it interesting how they used food to make so many things.

They design and craft several full suits of platemail with gold trim all crafted in the likeness of a dwarf...it seems like it might be a gift...you infer this mostly because of the big bow tied around it.

Magmonious plays with the strings awihle, before curling up as cutely as possible and going to sleep on the ground.

You wake up inside the dark interior of one of the hide cones. You hear hooves outside.

Sa'Aq looks from the newcomer to the old one and back again a few times, letting out an inquisitive mew. If the old one does nothing Sa'Aq starts to walk over to where the newcomers are being greeted, intending to get a good sniff of them or at the least watch and see how the other orcs are treating them.

The big, finely dressed one seems displeased and snaps his fingers. Suddenly one of the men behind him steps forward and flips over a basket full of delicacy fruits held before them

Mmmm. Tasty fat smell. Flap in, and land on the ground nearish the mounds. mew a bit.

Your mews are all but lost in the wind...but soon you see movement in a leather flap over part of the ice dome. Then a furry mane enveloped face pokes out.

Actions:
-Go check out those other buildings.

You land right in the middle of town...to the screams of the townsfolk

Qyro watches the creature, half out of curiosity and half out of caution.

The sleek creature prowls about the forest floor, it's whiskers twitching to sense out prey and danger. The you have an 'oh shit' moment as the thing bounds into a tree with very little effort.

Stoneclaw lets out the biggest roar he can then lays down and chomps on the little furry animal, crunching bones, skin, meat and all as he feasts on his catch of the day.

-5 hunger, +1 sleepiness, +2 fullness

Grim'karl sniffs the brightly coloured things, then omnomnoms them.

Looking around, he looks to see where they are coming from.

It seems a few villagers are around the building and have some fruits

Drakon tries to stealthily get out of the water from the far side of the shore before going round to ambush the douchebandits, starting with the biggest one, roaring and pouncing in, tearing his shit and biting his neck.

Or you think you are stealthing...you in fact burst from the water and attach to the torso of the nearest advocate of douchebaggery

Stoneclaw yawns a little and starts to make his way back to the village. This little forest adventure was kind of boring, he's gonna go curl up on featherheads comfy bed and take a nap.

You get back to the village and smell something that isn't quite right. You round the corner and see massive green hulking things looming over the goblins. They look like bulkier...stronger goblins...it must be orcs. The have big metal weapons and leather armor.

Deciding that he's seen all he needs to from the smiths at the moment, Naron gets up and goes to see what the rest of the dwarves are up to, maybe find another way outside that doesn't have screaming humans.

You look both ways...dash sneakily away from the artisans. You combat roll across one of the paths between buildings and hug against a wall as a patrol walks past. You dive to the massive chimney of one of the unused forges. You begin crawling and shimmying up the shaft. Eventually you find yourself in the moonlight of the open sky.

flap down in front of the furry face. Mew at it gently. It is tiring, this searching the world alone, business. Maybe it will be my friend?

The face shouts and falls backwards inside. There is much movement and noise within the domes. And other fur encircled faces emerge, followed by large fur and bulk covered bodies.

BLOOD FOR THE BLOO- er.

Young Drakon will continue by ripping the guts of one of those assholes, claws flying and slashing at anything in reach. Hopefully Calvin takes the hint and gets help before I get stabbed to death.

You have the man pin on the ground and tear at him..he stops screaming and gurgles, but suddenly there are hands on you, shoving you away. You find yourself facing down three other men...all armed with weapons. Calvin seems to have been discarded behind a tree. Then men close on you...two with swords...one with a lit torch trying to push you back.

Magmonious leaves the tent, in search of food/companionship.

You exit and see some of the creatures. a group of them are clapping and laughing as another stands atop a running beast. You watch fro a bit as the slender creature performs tricks atop the great beast.

Thanatos rolls around in the street and bounces about with his tongue hanging out in a playful manner. Treating these villagers as if they were the ones he had been growing up with.

The villagers seem accepting of you. The men in leather armor...carrying odd weapons and the remnants/trophies of great beasts seem thrilled in a different way.

Ethelinda decides to try and sneak closer..to see if it's prey and tasty!

It oddly reminds you of what the elves call "Bear"

Grim'karl noms on the fruit, before jumping down onto the floor, sitting on his haunches he watches the things-with-fruit

They scatter when you jump and hide behind posts of the building...these creatures seem to be about half the size of the others from earlier

Sa'Aq instantly crouches ready to pounce and lets out a low threatening growl at the fancy man. If he makes to hurt any of the orcs Sa'Aq will try to protect them however necessary.

One of the council orcs steps forward on instinctual habit to help the other. One of the newcomer orcs backhands the citizen...knocking him to the ground. You roar and charge forward...the old orc shouting behind you. As you get close, the finely dressed man looks up and gets a momentarily confuzzled look on his face at seeing a dragon.

Bounds into a tree? What do you mean by bounding? Knocks it over? Climbs up it? My tree or another tree?

as per chat the thing ran/jumped into another tree

You see the human caravan in the distance, making its way down the mountain. It looks like a storm is brewing to the north in the mountains. To the West...the sea quite a ways off...East more mountains and vast forests

Magmonious attempts to climb up onto the back of a beast, and dance as the slender creature is.

As soon as you touch it, the beast freaks out and bucks away from you

Sa'Aq charges forwards and stand between the man and the village orcs, growling at him, ready to attack should he make a bad move.

Somehow making this face (:3) despite being a fucking dragon, Drakon UNLEASHES THE POWER and tries to get the torch to dance wildly, catching beards, braids, and hair, causing a terrible fiery pandemonium.

The torch flares and ignites the man's sleeve. He begins screaming and flailing. He jumps into the water, and as his friends go to help...you grab calvin and haul ass.

Naron heads towards the storm, wondering what he could find around there.

You find...BLOOD AND THUNDER! Oh and rain, there's rain. Soon the winds make it hard to glide about and you are forced to land in the foothills.

Sa'Aq leaps at one of the men biting and clawing him then, satisfied he's out of the fight, leaps for another. If anyone tries to approach from behind Sa'Aq sweeps it's tail at them as hard as it can.

You lash out and draw blood from the man's arm. The man cries out and reels back. Some others draw clubs and lash out. You get clipped and crash to the ground. The lavishly dressed man draws a long, slender sword and jabs for you. You roll away and start to get up, but you are pinned against a crate. You turn and see the man reach back and slash down at you.

There is a crack of magic and the smell of ozone. Suddenly the old orc is standing in front of you, shimmering with flowing magical energies. You see flashes of light emanate from your friend, and the evil men are thrown back. Fire lashes out at their ship. You peek around and see the splendid man look down at you and scowl; then he turns and hops into his boat. The city guards are running to the area.

Then the old orc falls to his knees. You look and see the large weeping gash from his neck to his hip. There is a fierce fire in his eyes as he sends winds into the harbor, generating large waves pushing the ships out to sea. When the ships are beyond the harbor, he falls forward on one hand. He rolls onto his side...the fire of his eyes dying. Then the glowing orbs close.

Grim'karl sniffs the things hand as it draws close, and allows it to touch him.

You get pets and scratches, then you get grabbed to be taken somewhere.

Stoneclaw looks up and growls a predatory growl at his attackers then turns and pounces on the farthest one to the right. This way he knows he'll only have Orcs on one side of him, not both after his attack. During his pounce, as soon as he slams into the unlucky Orc, Stoneclaw digs his teeth into it's neck as hard as as swift as he can, then turns, mouth full of blood, and roars a challenge to the other Orcs.

You rear back and leap. The orc rolls sideways with the blow, and now the goblins are behind you as the orcs turn.

Chortling loudly and uncontrollably, Drakon hauls Calvin back to home, his innocence insisting that Calvin is alright, despite not speaking for a good while now.

Calvin is fine, as you drag him by his tunic. You make it back to the caravan, where you are chastised for being noisy

Qyro looks around startled, trying to look for where the invasion of thoughts might be emanating from. Curiousity he thinks, Who's grove am I in? Is there a problem with me being here?

I am the wood guard, and it has been a long age since a dragon walked in my presence...still just a hatchling...and so far from home

The dragonling will chill close to home for the day. Helping out with whatever he can, healing any wounds, and heading to the gambler's den late at night and nuzzling up to his favorite gambler.

Oh, and pie. Get some of that.

Uneventful night...with a cake...You go to bed disappointed. Maybe. Probably not. I prefer cake.

The next morning you are woken buy busy happenings outside...perhaps more trading caravans?

Ethelinda, feeling up for the challenge, tries to sneak a bit closer and then jumps on the bears back, trying to bite it in the neck

The bear awakens with a roar as you jump upon it...your teeth finding no purchase through the thick fur. The creature rises...a good 10 feet tall and jerks tossing you away quite a distance towards the mouth of the cave.

Eventually the merchants come across another group. This group has animals in cages...and people in cages. They are conversing with the caravan leader...perhaps some sort of deal/trade.

Some of the goblins begin throwing stones. The orcs fall back a bit, and then other goblins grab hunting spears. The shaman snaps his fingers and suddenly small explosions of fire surround the orcs. They flee.

Trying his best to remain stealthy, despite being constantly reminded he is not stealthy, Naron attempts to spy on the source of this wagon noise.

You poke your head up over the rocks and see a wagon that looks suspiciously like the human wagon from the dwarf citadel. It's even full of humans

The Shadow in the Tree? Qyro looks at all the trees around him looking for shadows.

You're sanctum? So I'm intruding? Which is the way out?

You look around and see emerald green eyes staring at you from behind a mask of black fur that is the creature in the tree

Nonsense, child of elements. It has been a lifetime since a dragon graced these woods, and I fear for your safety on your own. You have much to learn of your kind and this world

Stoneclaw gives a few more aggressive barks and growls at the retreating orcs then turns around with as close to a smile on his face as he can get and jumps around a few times while wagging his tail happily. The man with the large greataxe decorated with the bones of monsters far larger than you smiles like a man who just got triple kings in one of the card games. Clearly he has found what he wants. And then the nets come out. Metal laced ropes with barbs and spikes.

They approach.

There is no escape.

There is no hope.

There is no chance.

There is only Zul. And nets.

ARE YOU AFRAID!

Ethelinda moves on, deciding that one night sleeping outside won''t hurt...probably

These woods are scary. Not safe and warm or lightly lit by gently glowing magical things. You hear the distant calls of beasts and the howl of mountain winds. But in the opening of the tunnel you find mild relief from both....but it is cold near the entrance.

Begin drinking, and decide to stay with the creatures-if only to steal all the food they can feed you with

It seems the only thing that remains of your friend's life force is the magic in his amulet, hung about his neck. Soon other orcs gently move you out of the way and lift the orc's body reverently to carry him off for funeral preparations

Nothing you try budges the box...and soon the gentle roll of the wagon rocks you to sleep. You awake to the sounds of many people yelling and screaming...smells and sounds you've never heard. You can barely see out the eye/breathing holes in the box...but you see hints and glimmers of some great city as you are carted through it. You get back to the dwarves who seem ready to throw some sort of celebration. You noticed over time...that there are not many dwarves here in the mountain...it is a small holding that they call the "Abbey" as best as you can understand from their weird words. After a day...you hear great blowing horns...the giant ram horns at the mountain entrance...the ones that are never blown. You run excitedly to investigate. All of your dwarves are clad in white robes with blue trim. The various artisan works of armor and weapons are stored in ornate stone boxes. When you peer out. You see that a large group of dwarves is approaching. Easily 200 bulky short guys are approaching in a column. Flags and banners of all colors and shapes blow in the wind. Small ponies carry dwarves in fine leathers and robes and armor fit for the greatest of peoples. At the head of the column is an awe-inspiring dwarf with a gold circlet upon his head and a magnificently braided beard.

You are not quite sure what is happening. there seems to be some sort of celebration for this dwarf who is their king. Gifts are given to several of the visitors including the finest suit of armor you've yet seen made. There are also gifts for the abbey. Then the feast! You are presented to the king and his court at the feast. The king is astounded by you, and for the first time, you note that his new armor is adorned with dragons that look like you. -Go with the King and his Court

Naron knew from his short stay that the dwarves were a strong people, and that meant the king must be one of the strongest if he was their ruler. So he decided to go with the king and learn what he could.

When the king leaves with his court, you are given your own wagon to be pulled on. After about a week of travel the massive column of dwarves arrives at the base of a massive sheer cliff. You see openings high in the cliff and a massive iron door in the cliff begins to creak open. It is a massive construct propelled by mechanical systems deep within the mountains that rumble and shake the ground with every movement.

Deep within the mountain you find a dwarf stronghold resounding with the sounds of thousands of the short people. Here unlike the abbey you soon discover female and child dwarves. Never in your life have you been around more than the 40 monks...but here the heartbeats of thousands of warriors, merchants, artisans and cityfolk resounds within you.

For four months you are housed within the mountain. Daily you find new things to see and experience. You observe the young warriors, those not yet permitted a warrior's braid. You watch intently as the smiths here cool their metal wrought in fire. Not simply the beautiful pieces of devotion from the abbey, but the daily needs of the city in iron and steel. You taste the strong an aromatic ales of the priest-like brew-masters, the foamy liquid heavy in your belly. You feast on the offerings of lamb and goat shanks.

Soon you are the size of a bull, a fully realized Dragonling. You have lately felt the swell of magic within your heart as well as the swell of strength within your muscles, and one day you awake on your iron palette to the presence of a high priest. He is an ancient dwarf with thick white eyebrows and several feet of ornately braided white beard held by a gold symbol.

Content, Drakon will now find a warm place in the caravan and has his nap time, his little head dreaming of fire and that stupid tiger called Rawaroow.

You awake to Calvin's prodding....or perhaps simple the jarring of the road under the wagon. The caravan is moving in the shadow of a great wall...a city lies beyond.

Guards check the wares to allow passage; you are deftly hidden from sight. Soon within the large city you can see the passage of the tall buildings and the sway of roofs as the wagon continues into the city. At the gate house the prisoners were handed over to the guards and now you find the caravan entering an area full of tents and booths with canvas shades casting shadow over tables full of wondrous items and delicious foods. You are told something by the head caravan guard, and he motions something that seems to mean "stay put, or I will lock you in something".

Qyro listens intently, learning at the Warden's pace.

OOC: I only really need the necessary bits :P

Over the next six months the Warden tells you of the history of the world. You hear of the rise of demons and the fall of dragons. The Warden speculates on the saving of dragon eggs and the spreading of them across the world. He tells you of the hold of magic within you. He describes the tenuous constant of the magic Weave and your very blood. Soon you are told of the great wetlands and swamps that gave birth to you. The Warden tells you of the poisons within your blood and the connections of your soul to the marsh.

You are now roughly the size of a cow...but you are more serpentine than bulky. Small bone protrusions have being to just from your snout like the whiskers of a fish.

Stoneclaw finds himself staying close to the village. He doesn't want his friends beset upon again by those bigger green creatures and his one adventure out into the forests was a bit dull, though that rabbit was tasty, maybe one day he'll venture out again. But for now he has many new friends to spend time with, warriors from many different tribes have come to see him so he'll spend his days with them.

Four months pass, your muscles have grown with your body. Your scales have hardened over your body, and deep within your belly a burning magic grows. You are now the size of a bull, easily towering over your tiny green cohorts.

Ethelinda tries to sneak closer for a better look...carefully now, we don't want to alert the wrong people :D

You come around a corner and slink along the wall to observe what creatures are making the sounds. You get your first look...Grey skin and dark hair with thick black beards standing under 5' tall. You are aware of dwarves...but you did not know they came in the dirty and grey variety. Each of the things is covering in rough hides and spiked or riveted rust covered armor. The toil without stop chipping away stone and metals from the cavern. A thick black smoke casts tendrils across the stone ceiling and the smell of burning fuels and metals assaults your nose.

Begin to wander about the campsite, Soliciting food and attention with babydragoncuteness

(Presuming this meant you chose to stay and explore the place as a whole...)

You spend the next six months among what you come to find out are elves who herd horses across the plains. You become used to the routine of the place, and at the end of summer...as the harsh winds begin to blow again...the tribes break up and head out to wider grazing. You are now the size of one of the cows kept by some of the tribes for milk. Your skin is a ruddy brown to black with red lining peeking through your scales and along the muscles of your bulky body.

Grim'karl sniffs at the paper, then snorts, tilting his head at the man.

(I'm kinda waiting for you to do something a bit more definitive than cocking your head every update....like I realize you want a trigger...but so do I...and it's just getting hard)

The man bends down to scoop you up in his wrinkled hands

Mope around and be sad...

Soon you hear a rumble and sand starts to fall from above you in small streams. The circle above you begins to open up and the circle below you rises, carrying you up into blinding light.

There is yelling and lights and smells and sounds all deafening in their quantity. As your eyes adjust you see that you are upon some sort of stage surrounded by hundreds of humans (and some other creatures). You see other beasts upon the stage...some with the fire of the wild in their eyes....others scarred and beaten down with the weight of captivity. Suddenly it dawns upon you where you are, as wealthy and well dressed merchants hold up boards or jingling bags. You have experienced this same situation in the village for wares.

Ethelinda sneezes and decides to go back to the elves, this is no place for a lady to be after all and she's starting to get hungry

OOC: Assuming I have been with the goblins long enough and I'm smart enough I can talk to them now....

One day Stoneclaw approaches his friend, Featherhead, and tells him he is going on a journey out into the wilderness. He has spent much time with his friends and he will cherish it but he feels there is more to learn out in the world. He tells them to fear not, for he is strong and can watch out for himself and he will return one day, for they are as close as he has ever had to family. After his farewells to all his lifelong friends he heads out into the forest in a general north-west direction following the river. He tries flying now and then to see what all there is to see and also feels inside himself for the powers that are beginning to manifest.

Sad assumption...also...not time to leave yet, as I'm catching everyone up...you may leave in phase 2 if you wish

Sanctus does not like this feeling... he was not property, but he knew how this stuff worked from watching the baker and her pies and cakes selling them to visitors...

The dragon scoured the crowd, studying them for a person who seemed to give off the most "good feelings." It was his hope he could find someone who would not make him its slave, but instead purchase him with the purpose of either freeing him, or helping him in some other way.

(stupid silas, only thing holding back phase 2...)

You see the plaques of fat and richly adorned men go up...followed by the hands of cruel and wicked looking men. Nobles with their crowns and bags of money command servants to bid in their place. Men in robes bid and bicker with those around them trying to command the auction.

As the auction continues, so does the noise. The time passed indicates that the price must be quite high. The fat merchant stops bidding and tears into a turkey leg. The wicked looking man turns and walks away shooting dangerous glares across the crowd. A man adorned with magical items looks worried as he places a bid...the next raised plaque causing him to hang his head. The white-robed men bid as a group...and after their bid there is silence...The auction master points and hits his hammer down. Once. Twice.

There is a shout and he changes his pointing and hits down the third time. The men in robes fluster and yell...but the richly dressed nobleman nods to the auction master and turns to walk away. Your pedestal begins to sink again.

At the bottom in the dim room, you find a number of jailers with hooks and such ready to take you to your new owner.

Satisfied that the child has gone Sa'Aq returns to it's bed. It cannot get back in a comfortable position though and eventually gets up and wanders about the house restlessly before deciding to go for a swim.

Do you want to stay in the city, Swim away and try to live out in the sea/wilds out of like a cave, or leave via land to find somewhere to be.

Choose 1 and then...

Qyro looks to the Warden and thanks him for the lessons he's had so far. So I am not the first of my kind? What were those who preceded me like?

Swamp Dragons were the masters of the marshlands. Long bodies, but without the natural elegance and majesty of the other races. Whiskers like the catfish and crests of bone adorned their heads, spines that leaked poisons run down their backs. They were the embodiment of the poisonous landscape...fearsome to look upon, but no less noble in spirit than the great Golds or Silvers.

I'm gonna do another post after this one (later) detailing 'phase 2' which will have more strictly regulated abilities and magic...it will be more like the original DL game, but fixed and updated. This is where the game truly begins...except for silas. If your update above has a question in it where you need to choose something go ahead and post up that decision. Phase 2: The Overture

This part of the game introduces real spells and added dynamics. No longer will you have minor skills as in the first part. Your actions and physique will determine physical status, and then the magic will be defined through guidelines. First up:

-Everyone can fly
-No one has their 'baby' traits such as blink and pounce

Magic

Void Elements: All dragons do not have ability to control all elements. Those that run opposite to the dragon's spirit are off limits and form a void in the Weave.

Power Thresholds: There are different levels of 'spells'. Each has a required minimum power that must be met from the dragons inner connection to the weave. Failure to meet a threshold does not always mean absolute failure, but a significant loss of power from the intended is probable.

Spirit Pool: For each month in game each player will have a pool of dice that they can add to spell to meet required power and add strength to casting. There is no limit to the dice that can be added to a single cast as long as it is available in the pool.

Affinities: Each dragon has an elemental affinity, and sometimes a secondary. Main affinity adds 2 free dice (not from the pool) to the castings within that element. Second Affinity adds 1 die to the casting.

Power Dice: Each die in the pool is a d6. Each can either be rolled to determine it's addition to the cast or the roll can be forfeit for an automatic result of 3.

Arcane Element: Each dragon type can wield arcane energy with no element applied to it. These spells operate in much the same way as elemental spells in terms of thresholds and such.

Power Levels: The zone or range of power of casting. Every time you want to cast a spell. You will tell me what power level your looking for and the effect your striving. If these two do not match up, I'll adjust the power level. Higher Power means more effect, larger area of effect, and higher cost.
-Basic: Low power, general spells. Threshold: 5
-Medium: Decent power, special spells. Threshold: 10
-High: Major power, advanced spells. Threshold: 20

Here are your Void Elements and some Example Spells (There are no set spells, but rather you shape magical energy to do what you want. These are simply for you to figure out the range of things)

Sa'Aq decides that there is only one course left. It cannot bear to stay in the village any more with the memories of it's friend. That left two directions. Across the sea or over the land. To Sa'Aq there was no choice. It's very heart was the sea and it would no more be separated from it than from it's heart. Sa'Aq turned it's back on the village and without a backward glance it swam away to find a new home among the ocean waves.

The village has grown and prospered of late. Your shear size scares off most predators and enemies. Goblins from around the forest have gathered here and the village has tripled in occupancy. You awake one morning and feel as if a door within you has been unlocked, and magic has been freed to run through your veins...the blood of your ancestors.

This morning is otherwise like all others...begins with meat and fruit, basking in the sun to warm your scales. What marks a difference is that the leaders of the tribes, including your shaman friend, are gathered around a table discussing something that requires much debating and argument.

SGS
The priest leads you to the cloister where images of the Dwarf gods are born out of the stone of the walls. This is a room you have never before entered. There are also relics of great dwarf heroes, forged in the fires of the mountain and laid to rest here. Magic is strong in this place. It emanates from the very iron of the weapons and armor displayed on pedestals.

PyroSikTh
The Warden has begun to show you how to wield your inner power. From conjuring floating orbs of arcane flames to warping the very vines of the forest to your control, you have practiced hard and learned to control the weave.

He tells you of the plight of the forest, the battle of nature versus disease, undeath versus life. He tells you of the fallacy of good and the untruth of evil. He details the war between the wardens and the lycanthropes that has carried from the dragons' war with the demons.

(yeah, if you use dice from the spirit pool, they are gone until refilled...except the free ones for affinity...which the smart player should see allows you to ALWAYS cast a basic spell in your main affinity)

Lexius87
The mages have spent the last few months helping you unlock the power within you. Your control of the winds of the world has accelerated as greatly as your size. Your scales glitter now with feminine grace and you fit in with the elegance of the elves.

One day there is a great sound, like a crack of thunder that resounds through the forest. In the distance you see a great plume of smoke rising from the mountain, where a good portion of the northwest face has been blown away by some great force.

Arateus
You have gotten little in way of instruction from these elves, but you have had plenty of opportunity to practice flying and starting fires. The largest problem in life is that the horses and other livestock are terrified by your presence and the molten heat you give off. You have, however, become quite the asset to bringing warmth in the winter.

You have noticed in the last few weeks, since a rider from another tribe brought a message to this tribe....that the elves have been moving quicker in one direction. It is almost as if they are being pursued.

Thatfatguy
The old mage has helped you to unlock your magical affinity to the elements of storm...taking it so far as to tying string about you and having you float in the wind, held back by the string...in a thunder storm. The Village does not seem to fully trust you, or the old man...which might be why he lives on the edge of the lake away from others....with his wig collection.

Mali32
You managed to find a decent cave near the sea and out of sight from the village. As you got bigger, you eventually found a larger cavern. You have slowly discovered a more than emotional bond to the water...the magic within you calls to the ebb and flow of the element. Your new home seems to be on a shipping lane...and few days go by where a large ship does not sail past, sending you to the depths and out of sight.

DrakonTheNightLord
You play frequently with the children, delighting them with your new ability to play with fire. Your magic grows out of playtime rather than scholarly learning. The caravan continues to travel across the continent. You are now in a region of tall mountains and needled trees.

Silas

You are brought through a long tunnel and emerge at an iron wagon which locks you up and takes you through town to a walled manor atop a hill in a wide garden. You are taken out and placed in a large atrium with a pool and fountain. The atrium is a large circular room with a small oculus in the domed ceiling. Eventually across the room a door opens, and the well dressed noble walks in.

The children dismount and begin kicking a ball back and forth. This goes on for a bit...and then there is screaming echoed by shouting...and suddenly an arrow sprouts from the ground nearby. You look up and see a number of dirty barbarous men riding down on the caravan through the hills. You don't know how to count, but there are more marauders than you have claws...oh...but you have back claws. You roll over and sit looking at your claws for a moment. You then realize that perhaps you should do something else as another hail of arrows and bolts slams into the wagons and some of the merchants and guards. All of the available fighters are grabbing lances, shields and bows to fight back.

After looking around to see if the elves are alright, Ethelinda decides to check it out to "ensure nothing will threaten the elves" (read because she's bored and good do with a nice adventure:P)

You take to the skies, keeping low under the billowing smoke. You look into the open face of the mountain from as close as you dare get, but the thick plume of black shields all within except a red glow encompassing the interior. You note that the sounds you once heard from within the mountain are audible from hear now that the mountain is open.

Not much I can do but wait and see who this guy is.

The man approaches you slowly, with the confidence of one used to facing down power. He reaches down and you hear a click. The bond around your neck opens and the man stands up; you feel power begin to flow through your veins once more. The man gestures to the room and steps back from you. You see a stone dais with meat upon it. The man sees that you see this, and bows motioning to it.

(also you don't have the spirit pool til you hit 6 months)

Naron looks around the room, only growling a little when he thinks the magic is trying to challenge him. After a minute or so he goes back to looking at the priest, expecting something to happen.

The priests are unrolling scrolls and opening large codices bound in ram leather or iron. The pages depict runes and anatomical drawings detailing the flow of the weave through the body. There is a page for each species you know of: human, orc, dwarf, elf and even goblin. Then they turn the page to a large diagram, more detailed and full than the others (albeit blank in some places and missing information). The main image on this page is a dragon.

Qyro asks the Warden about the Lycanthropes and the Demons, curious as to what/who they are and where they are now.

The lycans are now forest dwellers, having given in to their debased nature and infiltrating our woods. They were created by a great curse, a disease upon the world...and now they threaten the balance of nature. Vampires are cursed, but theirs is a welcome gift to their kind. They live not fully on this plane, and certainly not in this place. They are the living dead blessed with minds and bodies far stronger than a normal human. Their palaces of bone lie in the barren wastelands of the Under. My fight is not with them. I would slay a vampire who threatened my wood with his fire and warmachines, but not out of duty. Lycans however are to be destroyed as is my sacred task to protect the natural order.

Grim'Karl awakens, and heads out to the lake, splashing into the water he heads towards the village, happily paddling across the lake.

As he approaches the village, he takes wing, flying above the village before landing in the town square, looking about for anything of interest in the day.

The dust poofs out around you, and there is a stifled shriek from those who did not notice you until you arrived. The blacksmith is busy making something of iron. The farmers are all out in their fields, the fishermen are out in the shores or on the lake, the baker is making the hearty and durable bread of the village, and the children play about their mothers' skirts

You summon power within you, tapping into the wealth and depth of your spirit. The winds to which you are blood-drawn begin to swirl about you. But the power diffuses before you can release it in a concentrated gust.

(Needed: 10, Rolled: 9)

A closer pass reveals great noise, but no sight. The noise sounds like a creature made of scraping metal on metal is being tortured. There is a great heat rising from the open face.

Naron looks at the dragon picture for a moment before becoming fascinated with a nearby war hammer.

It seems today, your lessons begin. The priests begin chanting and there is a sudden influx of power in the room. The sconces light upon the wall, the iron weapons hum with a warm comfortable sound. You feel the magic...not from the weave, but from something beyond...something greater than even you.

(This is the power of the spiritual/religious magic of the dwarves from their god, Geld)

After a while, the Master Runic comes in. His armor is adorned with metal boxes like pockets with steel hinged lids. He begins to open the pockets and removes metal and stone disks and squares. Each of these is inscribed with an etched character. He places them on an iron slab before you, placing a hand over one of them and saying a word. The rune glows and then explodes out magical energy around you. He sustains the power with his hand and you see arcane lines swirl through the room. He places his other hand on a disk of iron and says something...suddenly the arcane lines burst into a running stream of fire than traces across the line.

(This is Runic magic...of which the dwarves are naturally gifted...and it is in fact their only source of arcane magic [versus cleric and priest spells])

You are free to begin learning either, or to stick with your innate magic ability (note that you can do all 3...but it will take longer to learn in each than if you specialized. Learning religious magic will require actual faith in the Dwarf Pantheon, and then to be granted spells by the gods. This also requires you adhering to the necessary alignment, as you cannot fool the gods)

Qyro asks the Warden if he knows where he can find them. Qyro desires something to practice his new-found skills on, and it would please him greatly to assist the Warden.

With information on where to go, Qyro follows in search for Lycans. Once near to the place he was told of, he uses his camouflage to blend in to his surroundings and be undetected. There he will remain still and calm, watching for Lycan activity.

Young one, they are formidable foes. I cannot allow you to simply squander your life in a foolhardy charge to battle. I will take you to the woods edge, and you can see for yourself what man has wrought.

The Warden steps forward, twisting into a feline form as he moves. He pulls you through the woods, past ancient trees and blooming flowers. Soon you come to a part of the lives in more silence than should be necessary. The trees seem almost dead. Craggy layers of frozen mud cover the ground. Jagged rocks emerge from the forest like the teeth of some great beast.

Be still, child of marshes

The Warden looks at you through cat eyes and bounds off into the morning mist that gathers in the trees.

The silence and fog envelop you. You feel the unnatural air of the place. Shadows shift like moving wraiths.

The little dragon inches forward, skirting the edge of the area as he moves towards the food. Facing the man as he does so. Soon enough though, hunger wins the day and Sanctus begins to devour the food. Happily smacking and chomping. His tail wagged happily and food sloshed all over his feathers.

You look back at the noble, who bows to you and then walks out of the room. Looking about you see silky cushions and things to chew on and play with. After a while, it begins to rain and water splashes across the recessed marble floor. Soon a small pool is filled there.

Begin a routine of sleeping downwind of the campsite and landing downwind when flying, and once downwind take to longer and longer patrols during the day around the surrounding area of the campsite, finding everything and anything coming near.

(no worries on the time...you cannot understand the elves or communicate...but in much the same way a dog understands basics of things, so too do you get it [language barrier not intelligence])

You take to the air and head out ahead of the tribe, sweeping wide out to the side and then around back. You see a dust cloud on the other side of a small set of hills. You wheel around to get a look. You see a vast swath of people...green of skin. "Orcs" you think to yourself. They are riding great beasts and clamoring as they cross the plains.

After his mid morning nap in the sun Stoneclaw makes his way around the village smiling as best he can and making happy sounds at everyone he meets. He finds all the elders gathered in discussion and joins them wondering what is going on.

You slowly poke your head up over the table, keeping eye level and watching as the goblins move small wooden figures across a map. You duck down quickly and then return in a moment with a rough version of yourself bitten out of stone. You put it down and move it about with your tail. The goblin leaders look at you. Some look displeased with your interruption...others confused. The shaman's eyes glow bright with enlightenment as he looks on you and strokes his chin

Drakon the Mighty Cow lets loose a roar, and takes to the skies, and swoops on to the fucking assholes trying to loot the caravan, tearing into them with claws and fangs, and laying down the smack down with his tail.

"FUCK YOU I'M SPIDERMAN!!!"

You swoop, avoiding arrows and spears, and latch onto one raider with your claws. You lift him from his horse and pull him into sky; releasing him as you reach a height and speed suitable. He flies forward, crashing into a group of archers and splattering two of them as well. You wheel around and feel the sting of an arrow in your haunch. You descend on fast wings and sail between a group of riders. Your tail lashes through two of them, knocking them bleeding to the ground. You crash full body, claws forward into another rider and slamming him and the horse to the ground with a spine breaking clatter.

Then you hear a scream from the back of the caravan.

Sa'Aq wakes with a mighty yawn and a stretch and wanders out to the entrance to his cave. He looks out across the ocean and spies several ships sails out towards the horizon. You find a school of shiny silver fish, thick with meat. You swirl around them, herding them into a ball. You then launch through them and feast. Looking up and out after your meal, you see the heavy and low dragging hulls of large ships. There are many of them, sailing past overhead.

Grim'Karl lands, and attempts to create a small localised display of sparks around his head to entertain the human-creatures, using tricks he learned from the old party-mancer to entertain the villagers, including attempting to balance a lump or mud on his back legs while standing on his front legs, somersalts and cartwheels.

- Attempt making some minor sparkling effects
- Attempt to do some party tricks to entertain people

You look about and make a noise. Some people look up at you, and you take the opportunity to channel your spirit and bond to the weave into the air. The air around you crackles and pops with sparks and jolts of electricity from you through the air. You then attempt to do physical tricks, but fall on your head, covered in mud. The children swell around you laughing and cheering at your antics.

***********__________ STORY TIME __________***********

Across the land the eggs have hatched. Half a year has passed and the young dragons are growing into themselves, still blissfully unaware of the world, their history, their place and the future. In the land of caverns and darkness, there is a great release of breath as if the very world had sighed and awoken from slumber. The ground shakes and mountains fall. Trees uproot and water dries up. In the land of far away a cave of impenetrable darkness opens as the earth crumbles around it. There is a low sound like the rumble of an avalanche and a pair of red orbs appear out of the black. A single massive claw extends out of the dark, enveloping a boulder. The orbs disappear and reappear as if death himself had blinked. The claw closes, shattering the boulder into a thousand thousand shards and powder. There is a rush of wind and black and great crescent wings of bone and sinew. The great shape blocks out part of the moon as the world shivers in fearful anticipation.

Drink and be merry! Give me the power of the ancients! Then take a bath and roll my wet body over everything that can absorb water. And then play and chew on things. Then follow the noble dude.

After you have sufficiently destroyed the silk cushions and tapestries of the room, you go to the door from which the noble left. Finding it closed, you paw at it for a bit. You put your head against the door and hear voices and then foot steps getting close. You retreat a bit and put on your best "I'm in credibly behaved and sitting here all presentable like" face.

The door opens, and the noble enters with several men in toe. There is an old man in bright robes; an air of magic hangs about him. Two men in plain, but nice robes stand beside them. They each have a chain with either gold or silver suns hanging from their necks. There is a magic about them...but it is not of the weave, it is something else. Two more figures enter the room. Both are dressed similarly to the two but with certain differences. One is a dwarf with a gold hammer hanging over his beard and steel armor place about his robe. The other is a slender elf with a silver moon pinned to a half cloak. The noble steps aside, and the others look upon you.

-Learn all 3.

Unable to deny himself advantages in magic, Naron chooses to learn all three paths and specialize in none, figuring that with enough patience and practice he could master all three.

You investigate the holy symbols of the priests. The cold metal has a soothing warmth as you touch it. You feel a sudden awe at the power and majesty of the items...and you think for a moment you hear a deep voice speaking to you.

After a while of being shown pictures from ancient holy texts, the priests move on to showing you some runes. You are really, really bad at drawing runes. After briefly setting one of the priest's sleeves on fire, there is a break in the lessons and the priests motion for you to go off and play.

+Some basic child-like understanding of the dwarf pantheon in picture form
+The knowledge that you cannot draw well yet with ink, nor can you use hammer and chisel for runes

"BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!" Drakon roars, and flies off to the back of the caravan.

"CHILDREN FOR THE SK- PLAYGROUND!"

You take off, a hail of arrows following you. You see the women and children running and hiding behind the wagons as large (super beefy fellows) with whips and chains come after them. You descend, but cracks of whips and the super fast whiz of a large crossbow bolt force you away.

Qyro does as the Warden bids and remains still, relying on his camouflage to keep him hidden from whatever might be lurking. He watches the immediate area around him eagerly, attempting to penetrate the fog with his eyes, and identify movement.

You sit and calmly wait for something to move. Then on your right, you see a dark shape. You are relieved to see the Warden return, and you begin to rise. But then the figure rises and you see that it is not the Warden, but instead a hulking brute coated in thick brown and grey fur. It howls into the darkness of the trees...a call that is answered.

Return to the elves, and point to the direction the orcs are coming from. Then fly ahead and attempt to find somewhere that the elves might be going or should go-a vast cavern, defensible mountain etc.

You make enough ruckus that the elves send to riders back to see what you could be yelling about. You then fly off the other direction towards the hills ahead. The cold winter winds have whipped up now. You see ahead that there are rocks jutting out of the landscape, laced with overhangs and potentially caves. But this is a bit off from where the tribe is going.

Grim'karl stands back up, and shakes the mud off of himself, standing on his high legs and attempting to walk to amuse the children, using his wings for balance.

- Continue entertaining the children

They continue to watch you and play, until their mothers call them in.

Ethelinda decides to land and take a closer look, if she can't see anything just wait for a few hours before moving in

You plop down on what seems to be a sold rock near the opening. The sounds continue to pour from the opening. There are occasional lulls in the noise, but then there will be a great rumbling like the growl of a great beast and the metal scraping seems to start again.

You begin to simply watch the smoke billow, looking for hidden bunnies and birds in the black clouds. Then you hear some new...as if the rock is scratching. Then the ground begins to shake. Small pebbles bounce about and the rock around you begins to crack and break. Bits of stone slide down the mountain, picking up speed and other rubble to crash into the forest below.

Having satiated his hunger Sa'Aq swims out to investigate the boats, first of all just swimming alongside them, occasionally darting in close to get a look at their hulls before swiftly swimming back further out. After investigating a few hulls he decides to surface and have a look at the top part of the ships. He swims over to one and, whilst maintaining a fair distance for afety, lifts his head fully above the water and studies the ship.

You raise your head above water, seaweed atop your head acting as a disguise. These ships are massive. Their billowing sails reach higher than the tallest buildings of the orc city, and their wooden sides are swollen and covered in metal sheets.

Stoneclaw stops playing around and puts on a serious look, which is just as tough for a young dragon as a smile. He sits on his haunches and and watches with rapt attention to what is going on knowing it is very important. He's been around the different goblin tribes long enough he knows their symbols, and seeing them on the map he recognizes what he thinks are plans for war. He nudges his own rough chewed stone figure into the mix telling the leaders he wants to help his friends.

You don't quite understand the extent of what is happening, but you see that there are several goblin figures...one for every tribe (painted the proper color). And then there are other markers that seem to be coming into the wood from the east.

Naron heads for the outside, wanting to explore the surrounding area a bit and stretch his wings.

There are lumberjack dwarves in the slope forests. there is a dwarf messenger riding to the fortress. There are other dwarves doing shit elsewhere

Qyro attempts to control nearby plantlife to restrain the beast, sending vines and branches to wrap its legs and constrict it's torso (using 3 from my Spirit Pool; auto-ing 3 and rolling 2). Grim'Karl heads towards the plain, hoping to snatch up something edible

(you don't have to RP food search, for now it can be understood that you are fed and/or can hunt the occasional gazelle. For the effect an purpose of this, we can presume you descended upon a prancing horned thing and ate well.)

While out on the plains, you see rolling grey clouds sweeping down the plain towards you. From here you can see the approach of the cloud edge and the rain and the lightning bolts structuring up into the clouds. There is a caravan of people between you and the storm. They appear to be setting up a camp and battoning down for the coming tempest.

Attack the big machine with magic. Wind, High Power, Use 5 spirit dice: Auto 21

You gather about yourself a strong wind. Soon the swirling gusts begin to catch the smoke and the dwarves suddenly become aware of something being wrong. They turn and see you. A shout goes round and they begin to pick up arms. Suddenly the winds manifest into a massive funnel that descends from the sky and carries debris, wind and smoke. Loose items about the cavern being to suck into the funnel. Tools and rocks zip through the air and are sling shot across the space. Several of the dwarves take massive hits from stones that crack against thick skulls or dent helmets. The machinery begins to shake. The massive saw-tooth disk begins to vibrate and hum as the support structure of it begins to groan under strain. After more dwarves get clocked by debris, their comrades decide it is more prudent to take cover than to stand in the open. There is a loud groaning screech as parts of the big machine begin to tear away or are ripped off. The massive thing leans, leans, tips, pauses and then crashes to the ground with a earth shattering and deafening boom. The vortex begins to dissipate, having opened the mountain even more by pulling loose stone into itself. Once the world settles, the dwarves begin to rise and look about. They begin to turn to you, hands on weapons, hatred in their eyes.

You feel a bit sleepy...as if you've been playing for hours

Sanctus follows the friendly people into the large place, eager to learn and follow.

It's a beautiful temple, etc etc (think my GURPS, but less frontier, more palatial). You enter through the big main door and view a vast hall with some sort of altar at the end. Symbols and tapestries line the hall, each regailing a particular god or the great deeds done in their honor. The old human priest walks over to the tapestries and begins to point at parts, and trace along a path from one part to the next. There is a verbal narrative alongside, but seeing as how you don't understand human...the pretty pictures have to do.

You are eventually shown everything in this main hall. They lead you off into a side wing. There are doors along this part, and the place ends in a big round room with a small pool and a big pile of hay. There are high windows that will cast colored patches of light against the ground. There is a big door which leads out into the yard.

The priests bow and leave you to sleep. You wake in the morning to the sounds of voices carrying and echoing through the halls, reverberating the walls of your closed room.

Sa'Aq decides the risk is worth it and so swims back away from the ship before shaking off any seaweed, diving deep down under water and swimming back up with powerful sweeps of his tail and legs. When he breaks clear of the water he snaps his wings out and makes his way into the air before looking toward the ship and the people on board to try and see what they're doing.

You crash through the surface, throwing a massive trail of water behind you licking at your finned tail as you catch yourself on the sea winds. You hear shouting as you look down onto the decks of the ships. Men are running about the deck doing various jobs. More and more stop as they take note of you, or follow the gaze of their shipmates. The ships are easily the size of the docks of the city, packed with more people than you've ever seen in one space. The three big ships are mostly together, with two flanking the most massive ship with towering fortress-like sides and decks. Dozens of smaller ships of varied sizes dot the waters around the big ships.

Realising that he can't FIRE HIS LAZOR at the enemy for fear of torching the children and a possible escape route, Drakon continues to charge and thrash about, taking down the bandits with his tail, claws and fangs.

Battle plan: GO BERSERK. Done with flying. PREPARE FOR GLORY!!

(...you don't automatically kill everything nearby when you use magic....you can be selective...you are between the kids and the attackers...and it doesn't manifest as fire breath or jets of flame from you)

Whips lash out and you bat the first two aside, a third raps about your forearm. One of the men with a large...grabby-looking stick and jabs at you neck. You rear back, but your movements are restricted by the limited space and ranged attacks.

Qyro uses a tree trunk to leap off and up into the air where his wings spring into action and lift him up into the air high into and above the canopy where they hopefully can't reach him.

You dodge aside, but you are too heavy to stay in the trees, and the canopy is too thick to break through. You are no longer surrounded, and as you turn, you see the first beast closing on you with the other 2 behind (15' or so...like, easy charge/pounce distance.)

Naron follows the messenger, trying to race him if he's on horseback, or simply fly around him if he isn't or moving slowly.

The messenger on the ram is sprinting the beast, and you struggle to keep up so close to the ground. He pulls up and begins shouting. Guards in the lookout posts yell inside and the great door creaks and cracks open. The messenger, a thin dwarf gaunt from the road and effort, runs inside. You slip through the door and follow. The messenger pulls up into the court chamber, one of the first rooms off the entry. Within the king and his council stand to receive the interruption. The messenger hands a rolled parchment to the king and then kneels, catching his breath. The king reads, a deep furrow forming on his brow. His hand begins to shake and he crushes the parchment in one great stony fist. He bellows and hurries out of the chamber shouting commands with his advisers in tow.

You go up and look at the crumpled paper, sniffing it. It turns over at your pawing, and you see a symbol. It is a symbol you recognize. It was the symbol on the banners and doors of the abbey in the mountains. Blood is splattered across the sheet.

Sitting in his feasting spot Stoneclaw is a bit reserved tonight, not his usual bouncing self. He knows something is up and is eating all he can to get his strength up for whatever it is. He keeps an eye on all the goblins and especially his friend Featherhead to see if they are acting strangely at all.

There is a definite air of anticipation in the village. The hunters and all other goblin men have donned paint to match their feather colors. Each of them has a small plate of wood or bark strung round their chest. Some are wearing thicker leather outfits or hides. All have spears or crude bows. After the morning meal, the goblins begin to leave the village. The women and babies watch the (slightly) bigger goblin men leave with their armor and weapons. The shaman comes to you. He is holding a length of rawhide ropes, and a large necklace of feathers. He puts the necklace around your head and then loops the rawhide around your neck and begins to climb atop you.

fly over to the orcs, and land a distance away from them and wait to see if they come say hi

This time when you get within sight, you hear definite yelling and whooping and the orcs pick up pace, diverting partially towards you. Soon the over anxious orcs begin firing bows. The wild shots hit randomly about you and nowhere near you really. As they get closer, you see that they have weapons, and that theya re becoming more accurate

*******Everyone see TFG's update for an important note

Grim'karl heads towards the storm, attenmpting to divert the storm away from the caravan and the village by summoning wind.

- Attempt to divert the storm away somewhat
- if not possible try to just project a ring of calm around the camp
- if still not possible find a place to land
use 5 dice

in the future, I need: the intended effect (including magic type [wind, lightning, arcane, etc]), the intended spell level (basic, medium, high), how many dice (indicate/label how many from pool if affinity dice will be involved), and indicate if they are being rolled or auto-3'd.

^If any of this is missing...I'll fill it in...and I will not be conservative. Dice will be auto-rolled if not indicated otherwise. I will choose the element/method of spell and the level probably needed. Most importantly, if you do not include a note on how many dice are affinity or pool. If there is no indication, I will assume it is from the pool.

Spell Attempt: Wind based (lightning can't divert a storm, though you could have tried to stop the lightning from striking near them or redirected the strikes), High level (threshold 20)...it will require substantial energy to move a storm front. 5 spirit pool dice +1 affinity die.

You gather energy about you, reaching out to the winds that are whipping across the plain. You reach out with the energy and focus on the gathering clouds. You push the energy and see the clouds begin to break around the group. Connecting to the weave allows you to create a small pocket of wind keeping the clouds back from the camp, as if the storm were a river split by a rock. This lasts for about a minute, before your connection dissipates. The storm washes over the plain as fatigue washes over you.

(Needed: 20, Rolled: 20)

The cool rains pour down and lightning cracks through the sky, connecting ground to clouds.

Drakon looks at all the enemies and considers this new development, swatting an enemy absently.

Use 3 dice:

Slowly, Drakon puts his energy into a great globe like form, one so immense (level 3) that it reaches out into Drakons of alternate dimensions, causing everything to turn grey at the energy's light, fragments of reality echoing the Dragon's roar.

A) You can't swat enemies absently yet. Especially when the enemies have been you know...kicking your ass.

B) Just because we discuss on chat...doesn't mean you can leave info off the post...i need the info list.

So going on what we know: You are trying to hit level 3: 20 power. You are rolling 5 dice total (2 affinity +2 spirit pool). You cannot auto-3 them and auto-succeed unless you add in 2 more dice, so roll is needed.

You close your eyes and concentrate on the fire within you. There is a crackling above you of energy as the weave begins to form flames into a ball. The energy swirls as the fire builds, and then suddenly it flashes out and dissipates.

(Needed: 20, Rolled: 19....probably could have gotten by with a medium power attempt)

The enemies had paused in a bit of fear as you gathered magic about you. But now they grin and approach again, thinking you undefended

Stoneclaw turns in a circles a few times trying to look back at Featherhead trying to figure out what he thinks he's doing. Once he works it out that he's trying to ride him, Stoneclaw holds his head high and begins a slow trot out towards the front of the mob of goblins. Once at the front he lets out the biggest roar he can.

You trot out in front of the goblins. You lead the great host through the woods and soon come to an open expanse with a small hill before you. The shaman urges you forward and you scale the hill, looking out on a field before you. The two hundred goblins at your back form up ranks and there is gasping. Before you in fairly organized ranks and files are easily double your number of armored orcs.

AAAAAH CONTINUE RUNNING AND FLAPPPPPPING D:

(the note about them being within leaping distance was meant to discourage this)

You turn to run, and hear a sharp snarl. Suddenly a great weight crushes you to the ground as sharp claws dig into your sides and fangs sink into your shoulder. You struggle against the werewolf, as your blood flows out. The werewolf releases its fangs, snapping back and away from the bitterness of the poisons which have begun to circulate in your young blood. But the great beast does not release you or let up any weight. From your pinned position, you see the other beasts circle in.

Sa'Aq circles the ships a few times from a distance, waiting to see what they'll do. If nothing happens he flies in a bit closer to the three bigger ones. If they remain peaceful he'll fly in very close, circling round the three to get a good close look at the people.

(If they arent peaceful i'll deal with it after the next update.)

You see the men on the sides pointing, and then the snap to attention as one voice booms above the others. You see a man in more ornamented dress and a big hat giving commands. Men across the deck come to the side with weapons and train them on you, waiting as their commander watches you.

Feeling quite satisfied at the results of her little demonstration, Ethelinda decides to fly up out of the mountain and back to the elves for some nice rest and something to eat.

You easily get away and yawn quite a bit on the flight home. When you land, some of the elves who normally spend time with you seem agitated, but they give you food and drink and greet you as normal

Naron continues to paw at the paper, knowing something is wrong with his old friends but not knowing what. He walks after the king, hoping that he has some sort of explanation.

You follow into the forward barracks where precision-drilled warriors are donning armor and grabbing weapons. They are kitting out for cavalry, not for infantry. You follow the host to the stables where they gather the battle rams prepared by attendants. The two-score dwarves mount up and ride to the great door where they assemble with one of the king's commanders. The dwarves then ride out at a fast pace, looking to reach the abbey in half the week it takes to travel normally.

...Just fly and crash into them then.

(because it works so well the first few times...)

You lash out at the guy next to you, knocking him off balance. You then take to the sky, taking a few scratches from weapons for your effort. One long blade cuts open the side of your foot. As you get into the air, you hear two clicks, and 2 bolts narrowly miss slamming into you. You get some more height, turn in air, fold up your wings and plummet like a rocket at the men. You slam into one of them, crushing him with the sound of breaking bones. The others come at you in a full charge, looking to cleave you open...defend yourself, this is not the time to try to get away at all or do something silly...this is life and death.

Naron follows the dwarven warriors, hoping to help with whatever it is they're doing to help his friends.

For three days the dwarves push forward, fatigue washing over you from the long travel. On the third day you find the snow covered peaks that marked your former home. There are trails of grey smoke wisps climbing up towards the sky. As you come into sight of the abbey's caves, you see nothing but ruin outside.

I have to ask; HOW?! If it's in leaping distance, I'm going to want to get away even more, to make the distance between us even larger. What else was I supposed to do? Just stand there and take it?

(well if it can leap on you...it's going to if you turn and try to run again. Versus, say fighting back and possibly turning aside the attack)

Suddenly one of the other beasts is bowled over in a flying black bolt of fur and fang. The creature wrestles with the panther for a few minutes before the cat finds and shuts the things jugular. The third creature turns and swipes at the panther, missing as the swift cat dodges back. The feline rears back and begins shift, it's muscles rippling and it's body seeming to grow. The panther leaps forward, and the werewolf is hit by the force of a pouncing bear that carries it to the ground in a heavy thump.

The werewolf on your back digs in quickly, causing you great pain, and then it leaps off and jumps atop the bear which is almost finished ripping open the other beasts neck and torso.

Seeing the weapons Sa'Aq lets out a trumpet of alarm and swings away from the ship. Once he believes he's out of the range of their weapons he continues to fly around them, trying to see what they're doing. Every so often he flies in a bit closer to see if they still have their weapons at the ready but is always prepared to dodge out the way, possibly by simply tucking in his wings and diving into the water.

The commander lowers his hand to his hip and watches as you go about. The men stay at attention, but their weapons lower slightly. Whenever you come close, they raise the weapons a little bit. After two passes, the Commander yells something and moves his hand across his body. The weapons lower across the deck.

Stoneclaw turns his head to look at Featherhead for a sign to either continue and fight the mass of orcs or turn back. He begins to summon a weave of magical energy around him in preparation of pounding as many orcs as he can with his powers before the real fighting begins because he knows it's going to be bloody.

(presuming you weren't casting anything, just flavoring)

The shaman looks steadfast, as if he has made up hi mind for this day. He raises his gnarled staff and shouts. Suddenly there is a drum from the orcs. Beat. Beat. Beat Beat. And they charge forward with a blood curdling yell. Arrows from their side blanket the sky, but fall short of the goblins on the hill. The goblins return fire in a mroe ragged cloud that finds about a score of hits amongst the charging orcs. The shaman keeps his staff raised, the energy on this side is immense as the goblins wait. The orcs reach the middle of the field...close to the start of the hill slope. The shaman thrusts forward his staff and yells. the goblins charge (they are still all behind or even with you...so you don't have to worry about los to the orcs or killing goblins with an attack in front of you...yet)

delicious foods including some fruits you've never had before fill your belly. You go to sleep, delighting in dreams of wrecking machines...but then you see a dark figure in your dream. The figure is burly and small...but blurry. You approach. It turns, revealing a crazed look, grey skin, and filthy beard. It pulls something from behind it and points it at you....suddenly gouts of fire batche you in white hot agony and you wake.

The elves are not about in their normal activities and places. You eventually find them in a small circular, open-air structure. The elves of the village are seated around the space focused on the female elf speaking.

Naron moves up to the ruins and looks about frantically, looking for any survivors.

Several of the dwarves delve into the caverns...returning empty handed and with sour looks on their faces. You race about looking for things. Suddenly you step on something that crunches and shatters under your foot with a sound like the tinkling of glass. You step back and look down. Green shards of a lens lie in the snow, next to a leather headband.

That'll do, drak. That'll do.

You embrace your inner fire and release the power in a great expanding wave of fire. The fire washes over the men, causing them to drop weapons and cover their blistering faces and charring bodies. A moment later the magic dissipates, and the smoking corpses or severely wounded men lie about you. The children poke up from behind the wagon. There is crying as the sounds of battle die off. You feel a great wave of fatigue was over you.

You fly until you can no longer see the orcs following you. You sweep around to see if you can find the elves. When you finally spot the tribe and their herd, you see the orcs charge upon them. Elves are cut down as they try to fight back. There is no chance of getting to them in time.

Grim'karl shakes himself, getting the water off of his scales, and flies towards the caravan, to see if they are ok.

You approach the caravan as they being to pack up. There are screams as you approach, and a few guards grab large hooked spears.

Sanctus passes through the lights and flaps up onto one of the window sills. Perching on it and spreading his wings, casting a massive dragon shaped shadow into the room.

Your scales shine brightly, as if creating a halo about you. The chanting continues, and an old man...his skin like thin parchment and his wrinkled face creased with a century of duty walks up to the altar. The chanting dies and the man begins to speak. You recognize words...or perhaps just feelings are evoked. There is a true passion in the old man's speaking. He gestures towards you as he speaks, but few eyes stray from the holy man.

Ethelinda decides to join the meeting..even though she prob has no idea what they are talking about.
Who knows? she might learn something about why they are so agitated and perhaps pick up something of the language

You see the elf gesture towards the mountain as she speaks out. Other elves occasionally speak out. Some shouting interruptions; others being more formal.

You notice that there is a slight humming sound. It seems to be growing. The elves seem unaware of it at first...but then you notice some elves look about...and a murmur rises from the assembly. Suddenly a streak of red whistles overhead and explodes in a great fiery plume against a tree. More follow and the elves scatter. Soon the glade is being charged by a wave of the grey dwarves. There are loud cracks of exploding black powder as the elves try to push back.

Sa'Aq looks around at them men carefully before studying the captain. He then flaps over to the cleared space and cautiously lands and folds his wings. He tries to keep all the men in sight as much as possible, ready to fight or flee (or both) should it be necessary but also ready to see if these humans might be friendly.

As you land, all attention is on you. You get the feeling that this sort of thing has never happened before....certainly never for these people personally.

"I'm... LE TIRED" Drakon complains, before collapsing into hibernation mode.

You lie down...resting...but not sleeping. The people around you are crying in fear and mourning. Calvin sits near you, he neither speaks nor moves.

Good, child

The bear turns and begins walking away, shifting back to feline form as it goes. Once in the grove the Warden becomes his elf-like form. You see your reflection for the first time. Your face is smeared with gore from the slain creature...suddenly your injuries surface...and the pain washes over you.

Stoneclaw stops and looks around confused, he used a great majority of his power but nothing happened. This is not good he thinks, he must find another way to even the odds now. You stop your charge dead and dig into the ground with your claws. You grab at the stone in the ground with your mind. The soil here is more earth than stone (changed affinity choice for this, as stone isn't readily enough available for this action)...and you feel the ground shake.

Suddenly a plinth of mud and earth shoots out of the ground. The diagonal mud wall halts the charge of about a third of the orcs, forcing them out wide where they will need to work up hill and then charge back down into the goblins. You relish the looks on several faces of orcs who got caught in the mud wall.

When night falls you descend upon the orcs. Most of them have been celebrating their victory and captured livestock by drinking round the fire. You slash through the first few easily. Lifeblood spills as your claws cross necks and faces. But after a few moments, weapons (never far from orc hands) are retrieved and you find yourself surrounded by hulking brutes with iron blades.

The man rests a hand on your head, as you raise it up to listen. He says something and and you realize he's talking about you. He calls out to his audience. Several priests stand...well no, you realize they are not all priests. Some are wearing holy vestments, some are wearing light robes, and others still are wearing tunics and tabards. You hadn't noticed before...but there are soldiers here. Perhaps defenders or maybe warriors of the gods. Each man (and woman) who stands is a unique person...they truly stand out from the crowd of monks and priests. Their presence exudes an aura, their steely gaze exudes experience, and their words command attention.

You're not certain what they are standing for, but you have a feeling that you will be spending much time with at least one of them.

-Human Female: Long Blonde Hair, Warming smile, eyes like ice in color, wearing priest vestments
-Human Male: Close Crop Hair, Jagged Scar from temple to lip and over faded eye, Solid and muscular, wearing tunic and tabard

-Elf Male: Hair braided behind him in a short pony tail, standing against pillar on the side of room, wearing robes
-Orc Male: Bald, one broken tusk, large and muscular, wearing priest vestments
-Human Female: Short black hair, looks uncomfortable in the crowd...and mildly pissed about being here, wearing a dark tunic

The commander reaches out and puts an hand on your nose. He then shouts something, and the men hesitate...but after a moment...they remember their discipline and love for the captain...and they get back to work...casting sidelong glances at you.

After patting you on the nose the commander returns to the rail of the deck, overlooking the massive ship

Ethelinda Takes to the air, angered that the foolish and evil little creatures would dare to attack the elves...she will make them pay.

Magic!
alright: i want to use 4 dice(pool) to cast a medium lvl Arcane spell, nothing too fancy..just a large concentrated ball of arcane energy to shoot at the largest concentration of dwarves.

Auto-roll is fine for this spell

You turn and begin gathering energy as you see the dwarves nearing as they continue to attack at range. A large ball of arcane magic builds up in front of you. You release the energy and the ball rockets away from you, slamming through a group of dwarves, crackling as it hits them, bursting as it slams into one and sending dwarves flying away burnt by the arcane magic.

Needed: 10, Rolled: 15 (as you have second affinity for arcane, there were 5 dice)

Many of the elves have joined the battle now, shooting down dwarves with masterful arrow shots. Others have begun casting magic at the dwarves. You hear a small rumble and a coughing sound...you see belching black smoke before you see the cause. A tree explodes as suddenly a large mechanized beast walks forward. It's belching fire, hurling shrapnel and lashing out with toothed spinning blades. Rockets sail out from it, blowing apart pieces of the elf structures. Elves are caught in its path and cut down.

Naron looks for any sign of where the enemy might have gone. Footprints, blood trails, anything at all that could give him a direction to hunt.

Sadly, snow covers any tracks. The dwarves gather some things, dig graves, bury the dead, and mount back up the next morning to ride back (having sent a messenger the day before.)

Wtf... I'm wounded really badly and these human things are screaming and crying? Fuck this...

*Keels over to get attention*

You stand at attention, bark out, and then dramatically fall to the ground in a great puff of dirt. After a minute the guard captain comes over to you, a great bloody bandage covering his left eye. He examines your wounds and gives you a small bowl of water. He takes out some cloth and begins to patch you up.

-CHARGE!
-During the charge cast a stoneskin like spell, summoning forth all the stones in the area to use as a protective barrier during the fight.
-Use the 2 affinity dice, just avg them as 3's so it auto works.
-KILL! KILL! KILL!

There is not much stone available, but what is nearby comes to you, breaking apart and covering you. A thin layer of stone is now protecting you. You are beginning to feel the fatigue of casting...and your vision swims if you try to focus on too much at once. You crash into the orc line in a great boom of exploding weapons, armor, and stone. You trample three orcs and lash out at two more. The armor about you is broken apart as you crash into the line. The shaman on your back hurls green bolts of energy at nearby orcs as they being to surround you.

edit: I'll start reading now, so.
sorry couldn't wait more

Qyro heals up his wounds (auto-3 my 2D6 from the affinity with Nature), and then washes his face and looks to the Warden for guidance.

For the most part your wounds heal, there is some ache and the fatigue of battle...but you are no longer in danger.

The water in the pool is rejuvenating and cooling.

Do you understand now? You have taken the life of another without seeking sustenance. You have slain an enemy in battle. You have offered no mercy to an enemy that could not harm you. You are no longer an innocent in this war. You are a lynchpin in the natural balance. You can tip the scale in any direction

Sa'Aq is shocked by the commanders touch and then his shouting but when he sees no immediate danger he settles down a little and begins to investigate about the ship a little, watching the men at work, occasionally getting in the way without realising. He looks at how the sailers use the large vertical "wings" made out of cloth to catch the wind, much the same as he uses his wings. Whilst looking up at the "wings" he spots a man high up on top of one of the trees the wings are attached to and decides to go and say hello. He gets ready to take off but notices there are quite a lot of things that would probably get in the way and so moves to the edge of the ship before taking off and flying up to the man in the tree, keeping his distance from the swaying bits to avoid injury. After a while he flies back down and floats along next to the bit of the ship with the commander on it, looking for a good landing spot. Once he finds it he will try to land and then watch the crew and the commander for a while trying to understand what they're actually doing.

When you buzz past the man in the crow's nest, you startle him, and he topples, catching himself in the net ladder.

It seems like the ship operates on it's own most of the time. Occasionally certain changes are made and the men hustle to carry lines and unfurl things. Other than that, there seems to be much cleaning.

A young boy comes out and brings something to the captain...only then does he notice you for the first time. He backs up, yelps, falls down.

Grim'karl flaps his wings and takes to the air, trying to head back to his village

You easily get back. The old man is sitting outside one of the farmhouses. The woman of the house has brought him some ale and small plate of snacks.

Still shaking with barely controlled rage, Naron flies as fast as he can back towards the dwarven capital. -Go back to the capital and study magic. Need to get stronger.

When the party reaches the city, the riders report to their posts, while the commanders go to speak with the king and his council. You poke your head in the room. There is shouting and anger, not aimed at the messengers, but at the trespassers.

Stoneclaw knows he is more effective on a full on charge than anything else and pushes his way out of the throng of orcs. He heads out just a little ways, turns around, and charges in full speed once more to smash yet more orcs under his bulk.

You buck and throw away the nearest orcs, freeing up some space to get away. You run about 40 feet away and then turn, your breath coming in torrid pants. You claw at the ground as the orcs begin to form back up. You charge in again, the shaman throws bolts of energy and lashes out with his stick. You bowl into the first few and then feel a sharp pain as a spear finds your shoulder and a searing burn runs through your veins. The orcs being to close in again. Your vision is focused only on what is happening around you, the sounds of other battle fading.

Make this face:

Basically telling him that I fought off all bandits and nearly died... and he gives me a bowl of water?!

he also bandaged your wounds....they're not going to give you like a quest reward for killing what...10 guys out of about 30 or whatever attacking the caravan.

The captain pulls Calvin over to you while you rest.

Qyro begins asking the Warden more questions;

More every year. The ones in this wood are old, the elders of a race that branches out into the world. It is my duty and purpose to rid the world of this abomination to the natural flow. They are the only ones who are common in this wood. There are varied forms of dark and magical creatures. Some are evil, some are good, all are unnatural. Killing them is the only way to restore order. Most seem to be rather unthinking brutes when they are in their wolf form and bewildered children in their human form. The older ones, the ones who are not hapless victims to the disease, are intelligent...to much for a mere beast. They are ravenous beasts that feed upon whatever flesh they find: be it animal, human, or dragon. The older ones oversee groups that they have turned. But they are intelligent and organized enough deep in their territory to have established alliances and even a hierarchy.

I'm presuming this is 3d6 from the pool + 2d6 affinity for fire = 5d6 total. Last time you asked for a level 3 meaning a threshold of 20...this probably wanted to change down a level to make it logically doable, but since you left out the info...I'm going with it.

You reach within you to touch the weave and the fire within your body. Your gather a great roiling energy that begins to form flames around you. You go to release the flames, but the power dissipates as you lose control.

Perhaps there is some great spell to end their curse on the world. If so, I do not know of it. Don't you see...there is no negotiation. This is beyond this simple forest...the very balance of nature is at stake. Diplomacy holds no place with these foul things. There are ghosts and spirits and fairies and celestials and abyssals. Those not of this plane have no reason to exist here.

Sa'Aq lets out a chuckle-like-hum as the boy tumbles before very slowly and as unthreateningly as possible moving his head over to the boy to get a closer look. If the boy is not still there he quickly grows bored and decides to go for a swim. Launching himself off the ship he flies up high before closing his wings and diving deep into the water. He swims along after the ship underwater for a while before surfacing and swimming alongside it.

The boy backs away a bit as the commander laughs and lifts him up. The commander then drinks from the goblet brought by the boy. The sun is high and the breeze is stiff as you dive into the water. You soon come to the point where you are farther than you have ever been. The ships do not look to be slowing, but in fact riding high on the winds around the edge of the land in open ocean.

Grim'karl lands by the man, and stretches out, looking around to see if theres anything new or interesting

On the horizon you see the approach of merchants. It must be time again for the passing of merchants to the big cities. They stop here on their way and offer wares. Often the old man buys oddities and powders. Othere buy iron tools and foods not harvested in the village.

His vision clouded in red, Stoneclaw pounces on the nearest orc and continues his killing spree among the large green creatures. He bites a head off here, rips some guts out there with his claws, smacks one down with tail, he's using all he has to fight these monsters who want to harm his little friends.

You kill the closest orc and turn to the next. Try as you might, you can't actually fit an orc head in your mouth. You do manage to tear open a throat or two. You continue on, and pounce on the back of the turned orc. Your vision sees the next green skin....but it is a diminutive goblin with bark armor and an oversized sword he got off an orc. You look about as your adrenaline wears off a bit. All the orcs in sight have fallen or fled...but less than half the goblins remain standing. The sheer power of the orcs was too much. Then you hear a terrible sound. The orcs that had been separated have now reached the top corner of the divide...and are above you on the hill. They yell out a terrifying warcry and charge down the hill.

Annoyed that he doesn't get a reward of some sort, Drakon plots an insidious one on his human masters....

FOR NOW, SLEEP!

(protecting your friends and family who feed you and care for you wasn't enough?)

You wake to find the remaining caravan members burying the dead and setting a camp. The campfires provide only the needed light and warmth, but no comfort this day. You note that most of the guards are dead, as are half the women and children. Few of the merchants remain too.

The anger from the room joins the anger inside Naron, forcing him to enter the room. He doesn't bother growling or roaring, instead simply sitting out of the way and glares at the trespassers. He hoped that his eyes convey his thoughts, that he had no problem killing them if he needed to.

Aside from that, the dragon just sits and watches. Part of him was curious as to what dwarves did with the guilty. That part was the only thing keeping him from flying out and finding a few trees to vent his wrath upon.

as stated in chat...the trespassers are those who attacked the abbey...there are no actual trespassers...they trespassed against the dwarves.

The king eventually quiets and begins taking long droughts from his horn flagon. The advisors and council begin to voice in now, keeping low and docile tones.

The little dragon moves up to the pretty ice eyed lady and paws at her clothes, rearing up on his hind legs and laying his arms on her shoulder, then lightly licking her face.

The woman embraces you in a way as to relieve the weight from her shoulders and the hook of your claws and scales. She smiles widely at you. The old man comes down from the altar, running a wrinkled hand over your head as he goes.

The men and women in the room look at you and speak to each other softly. The dwarf, elf, orc and other woman leave. Only the large man and the priestess stay.

You find your days full of 'play' and exercise in the yard with the big man. He wrestles you, runs with you, and gets you to jump and roll about dodging and building your agility. At night the priestess brings you pictures and books, explaining in pantomime the roles and exploits of the gods. Sometimes she sits and closes her eyes., whenever you make noise or stop sitting, she stops you and gets you back to work. You soon discover that this is opening your connection to something within you. Four months of these exercises and lessons pay off. Soon you are the size of one of the temple cows, and you can readily feel a connection to magic...and something beyond that.

Grim'karl takes wing once more, heading towards the merchants

These merchants are ones who have been to town before; they know of your presence, but your size grown since the last visit still elicits gasps and some timidity. After a while the merchants pull into the center square and fold down the side of the cart opening up shop. Some carts have dried foods and aromatic powders. Others have stones and gems. The townsfolk look around. The smiths buy iron and other metals not readily available in town. In turn the townsfolk sell fish and fruits from the town.

You don't know the POWER of the Dark Side!!

The moment any one of your characters in any of my games becomes Batman, the character is dead. This subject is closed to debate.

The following day the caravan, what's left of it and salvageable, make their way to the nearest town. When the wall is in sight, the captain of the guards comes over and says something to you. He makes the hand sign he makes when you are supposed to stay in the cart (from when you used to fit in the cart).

He leaves you under a tree in the woods with Calvin, while the caravan goes into town.

there...there are only the dwarves who belong there...there are no other people...so

You go to your space and play with some of the irons bits around the place. A few days pass and you find yourself back in routine of learning from the priest.

3 days later, you are led deep into the mines under the kingdom. One of the side tunnels you are taken down leads to a big round room with some supports and barricades erected. Several dwarves with picks are standing at the wall. One of the priests walks to the marked out area of the wall and begins saying a prayer.

After a bit he steps back, and the miners come forward. They begin to strike at the wall, and soon it crumbles away revealing a long dark tunnel. A long stale breeze emits from the newly opened tunnel. It appears as though this tunnel was closed off at some point, and ancient sconces still mark the walls.

You are the heading into a world which will not understand you. You are abandoning the ideals for which your predecessors fought and died. The demons were banished, and the dragons died...but now we are overrun by their progeny and you are born again. You would give up on that and allow the world to burn?

level one arcane healing, roll four die, two auto.
Take shelter in the cave until healed, then go hunting and head back to explore said cave.

Level 1 spell requires power=5....so you auto-pass if you auto-3 two dice...so....-4 spirit dice

Needed: 5, Rolled: 12

Normally a good healing with arcane energy will probably be a medium level spell which would require a 10...this didn't really need that much, and you certainly added some to it...not a lot as there is an upper limit to level 1 and 2 spells

You focus your mind as arcane energy washes over you. Your wounds mend and your muscles lose the soreness of the damage.

The cave does not really go anywhere, it is a short tunnel with a large enough open space at the opening and inside for you to comfortably rest in

Stoneclaw looks around then looks up to the skies. He unfurls his wings and pushes as hard as he can with his legs and leaps into the air. Taking wing he raises up a ways then turns and dives down at a large group of charging orcs counter-charging them from above with a loud shriek.

You take to the air. A javelin or two follow you, but sail wide. You come roaring out of the sky and crash with incredible force into the front line of charging orcs. You hit the orcs like a comet, instantly killing three of them and splitting apart the force as the orcs try to turn away. Several are trampled, but soon they regroup and the charge is met by the goblins. You are once more surrounded and engaged as the shaman swings out from your back.
