It's been a millennium since Quaero II first went missing. The stories have grown old with the generations and into Myth. One thing is known for certain, and that is Earth is no more. As the legend goes, warriors were sent to investigate this mysterious ship out in the void, and brought back an infection so terrible that it wiped life from the Earth. Few inhabitants managed to escape, through thick and thin, building vast cities of metal that drifted through space.
Now, Human life continues on as normal, and those alive today only know of Earth by the stories. Of course stories are distorted and exaggerated over time and tellings, so no-one really knows what happened all those years ago. The Human race now lives in huge space stations that drift through the galaxy aimlessly...

ERRRR ERRRR ERRRR ERRRR

The first thing you hear is an alarm ringing in your ears.

ERRRR ERRRR ERRRR ERRRR

You open your eyes but all you can see is black. After a while you start to see some red flashing, lighting up the room.

ERRR ERRRR ERRRR ERRRR

Suddenly there's a hiss and the feel of a warm breeze against your naked body, and yet you're shivering uncontrollably. For a moment you wonder who you are and where you are, but then it all comes flooding back. You're on the mining vessel Tryton. You look around you and see your colleagues all looking around in a similar state of puzzlement as you feel. The room is a large, oval-shaped chamber at the bottom of the freighter with elevators either side that take you to any level of the ship, and a simple jumpsuit hung up next to each Cryo Pod. It must have been a long journey to require you to awaken in Cryo. Oh yes you remember, you and your colleagues were tasked with mining iron from Idaho, one of many rocky moons that orbits the small, distant planet; Isis. However the alarm that continues to ring in your ears must mean you're not there yet, and something has gone wrong that needs your immediate attention...

Natalia casually steps out of the cryo pod and onto the floor. Oh, how refreshing the feeling of the ship's cold, metal plates were as the numbing of the cryo system wore off. She'd always liked being barefoot onboard. Except near the engines. That was too warm.
If it were up to her, she'd never wear shoes on the ship. Of course, the Captain had told her a dozen times that she'd have to dress appropriately.
Well.. He wasn't awake yet.
She rifled through her jumpsuit looking to see if she'd managed to leave a scalpel in there before freezing - it had slipped her mind right now as to wether or not she put any sharps in there.

...That cryo stuff was wearing off. Her head started to feel heavy again. She didn't like that. That alarm wasn't helping the matter either.
Morphine'd fix that.
Having searched her jumpsuit, but leaving it hanging up, she looked to the others to ensure there was no malfunction with anyone's chamber. Once everyone was definitely alive - though maybe not awake, she moved to the elevator.
Had to get to the medical bay on Level 3. That was priority.

Horst finally woke up again. It's always better to be awake rather than in some sort of a sleep. He rubbed his eyes as he tried to get a clear vision. He looked around, just to see if there was any danger around him. He did a little dance in order to stretch his muscles. After that he put on his own clothes and waited for the orders of the captain. "I could use some food," he thought, as he looked through his pockets, "and a weapon."

Eddie just lays there in his chamber for a bit, the haze slowly lifting as the alarm finally moves from a dull throb in his ears to full blown annoying. He frowns as he grips the sides of his cryo pod and pulls himself free. He takes a few hesitant steps forward, making sure he has full mobility despite the long sleep before he moves to pull on his jumpsuit. As he's finishing, he glances around at the rest of the inhabitants, his eyes looking for the Captain as he makes a mental note,

Better get paid extra for being woken up early to an annoying ass alarm.

His eyes glimpse a naked woman, Natalia was it? as she moves to the elevator. Another frown crosses his features again and begins to move towards her, "Hey! Doc! Where you going in such a hurry?"

SonsOfStalingrad
4th February 2012, 21:45
Natalia doesn't look towards Eddie as she jabs the elevator button a few times slowly. Very slowly. Each time, progressively slower.
She didn't like machines. Waiting for them took forever. If it was a person it'd be here by now. It was only a few floors. Why did it take so long? Did the elevator have a break or union rules about not working too hard?
Her eyes intensified, staring at the button for the elevator.
She mumbled, almost inaudibly amongst the siren. "Noise. Conscious. Drugs."
She prodded the elevator button once more to be on the safe side.

Jogging up, Eddie stops by the Docs pod, grabbing her jumpsuit before approaching her.

"Hey, does you no good to run around here with your buns showin'." His arm stretches towards her, jumpsuit in hand, "Besides, elevator looks like it's being slow, you got the time to throw it on right quick."

SonsOfStalingrad
5th February 2012, 00:23
With a sigh, Natalia turned to face the crewmember. Why did they bother her? They weren't sick. They weren't dying any more than anyone else inevitably did from one moment to the next, so why did they have to bother her?
Her gaze took the man in as she tried to make heads or tails of them. Maybe he had a phobia about asses or bare skin.
The eyes slowly moved to the outstretched jumpsuit. Why did she need this? She was a doctor. Where was her white coat? That was better than this ugly thing. It also usually housed a scalpel. Or at least a syringe. Failing all else, it had a sugar-free lollipop in the breast pocket most times.
A lazy hand grasped the uniform, pulling a pit close to her nose. She inhaled deeply, then looked at the garment, perplexed, seemingly not detecting something she expected to.
She tied the jumpsuit to het person so that it fell loosely over her buttocks, thereby solving the crewmember's problem. She turned back to the lift, muttering again about the noise, with a slight shake of her head.

Garath steps out of the Cryo pod, looking around completely unphased by his nakedness.

"Why has pods closed down?" he asks noone in particular, grabbing his overall and tieing it round his waist as a kilt "is not time for awakening." he states, looking around to see what's going on "Why has alarms gone off?"

He spots the two people by the elevator, and heads over to them.

"'Vator no work? Garath Fix!"

He looks around for some way to get the elevator working, then resorts to pushing the button and kicking it.

SonsOfStalingrad
5th February 2012, 00:32
Natalia tenses up a little, fairly repulsed by the fact these... THINGS are crowding near her. Without letting it show, and without saying anything or making any further eye contact, she walks to the other side of the room and starts pressing that elevator button instead.

DCLXVI
5th February 2012, 00:36
Eddie shakes his head as Natalia just ties the jumpsuit around her waist. He glances sideways at the approaching mechanic Garrus? Marath? Something like that. After Garath announces he'll fix the elevator before resorting to pushing buttons and kicking it, Eddie just sighs as he steps back to let the mechanic 'work'. He watches the Doc walk to the other side of the chamber to press the button over there.

So far, two weirdos. The hell did I sign up for?

Jergen climbs out of his pod, shakes his head to clear the fuzziness there, and frowns. "Hmmm, probably some mechanical problem, these damn mining ships are always built by the lowest bidder." He grabs him jumpsuit and then walks over to a computer console and tries to ascertain why he woken up from the great dream he was in. He was on a beautiful sandy beach with his last girlfriend....Jergen shakes his head again, have to see what's going on here.

"Jus' a few more minutes." Mark says, trying to get comfy in his cryo pod before realising it's a cryo pod, they dont do comfy. More to the point the alarm wasnt a wake up alarm. It was more of a 'something's gone wrong' alarm. Perhaps he'd have to take a look at it. Couldn't do with dying. Stretching expansively as he steps out his pod Mark takes a quick look around at his shipmates to make sure none of em went psycho in the deep sleep. Make that more psycho. he thought glancing over at the doc. Mark reached over and grabbed his jump suit. Clambering into it he checks to see if he left any bits and bobs in the pockets before the sleep and heads over to the lift.

"Being a bit slow is it?" he asks the mech and Eddie. "The lift I mean?" he adds with a smirk.

Silas
6th February 2012, 03:19
He dreamed. He was someone else, someone on a ship. He had been looking for someone, someone he cared for deeply. When he thought he had finally gotten close, the creatures had attacked... and then an explosion...

Captain Brox woke with a start. The alarms did not bode well for the trip at hand. Before stepping out the pod, he watched as the others moved about the ship, their names and profiles beginning to seep back into his consciousness. That strange doctor was awake, that was good. What was her name? Natasha? Nataly? No no... Natalia. Ok.

As the fuzziness cleared from his mind, Brox stepped down from pod, taking a moment to put on his jump suit and check it's pockets, and check the area around the pod for any containers he may have put items in before the sleep...

Gathering his thoughts and watching the strange interactions of the doctor, the pilot, and the mechanic... the captain spoke.

"Crewman, please. It seems obvious we have been woken prematurely for alert reasons. They don't want us asleep right now for some reason, and I will not have anyone wandering off by themselves without knowing the ship is safe."

The captain put his hands up to rub his temple, the doc was stubborn one and she would want her tools asap, and he could only imagine the security and mercenary forces were chomping at the bit to get some weaponry...

He would need teams.

"Ok, while we wait for the elevators... that you've already called I see. We need two teams, and they are as follows:"

Team 1
Silas - Brox (Captain)
SGS - Sarah (Security)
sneggy - Noggy (Pilot)
SourImplant - Hurst (Mechanic)
scythes - Jergen (Mechanic)

Team 2
SonsOfStalingrad - Natalia (Doc)
Thatfatguy - Garath (Mechanic)
Loner - Horst (Merc)
Mali32 - Mark (Pilot)
DCLXVI - (Merc)

Natalia sighed, hearing the orders. She had hoped to be out of cryo before the captain came to.
Sure, she understood the order - safety in numbers. But she also happened to know the onboard computer wasn't all that intelligent - In fact, she thought it only slightly more intelligent than the mercenaries that had just been ordered to escort her. Like the last time, when it had woken them all up due to a dangerous bio-hazard warning, only to find out it was caused by a malfunctioning food dispenser that had dropped hotdogs onto the floor, which had then begun to grow a fine fur coat in the interim. Disgusting... kind of. Threatening... not more so than the regular food on board.

She swing around to face the captain and mocked a salute to him, glad to at least nothave been ordered to put the jump suit on properly.
Again in mutters, she pointed to the vacant spot next to her. "My team."
Turning back to the elevator, she resumed muttering about alarms, drugs and headaches.

Loner

Follow into the elevator, although a bit hesitant.

DCLXVI
6th February 2012, 06:06
Nods towards Mark, "Yeah, taking its sweet ass time."

He taps Garath on the shoulder and motions him to follow as he trots towards to the Doc. He sighs as he watches her, My lucky day... or is it night? Shrugging he leans with his back against the wall next to the elevator as he waits, watching the rest of the crew climb out of their cryo pods and further orders.

Thatfatguy

"Is am in team with pretty lady?" Garath grins toothily "Am fine with this, who else these people?" he asks the others in the team, while scratching his backside.

"Is we check to see what malfunction being yes?"

sneggy
6th February 2012, 14:10
Noggy his head, clearing his vision as he came to. Retching slightly at the stale air down here in the Cyro pod he clambers out of pseudo bed and gras his jumpsuit. Pulling it on swiftly he moves over to the captain by way of acknowledging his order.

"if its all the same to you sir I suggest we move up floor by floor, we can collect supplies as we go and sweep the ship for problems. That'll allow us to arm in the Security hub immediately then check the engines for damage on board. Seems to me our most pressing issues are hostile life and engine failure. This way we solve both in fairly short order."

Whilst waiting for a response he looks around the room, for anything he could take with him, a flashlight, any kind of weapon (hefty bit of pipe/metal will do in a pinch if needed.) Any personal effects he might have left nearby. Oh and if possible a way to shut off that damn alarm.

Silas
6th February 2012, 15:32
The Captain looked over at the man. His profile flooding back to him, Noggy.

The name seemed familiar, his dream from last night called to him. He shook the fading images of the dream away and addressed the pilot.

"I understand your concerns, but if we go up the ship guns blazing and looking for trouble, it will cause more harm than good. There is no reason to suspect we've been boarded. Since we've been woken up early, we are somewhere out in the middle of space with no planets for a very long time."

Again he rubbed his temples, he could use a drink. Throwing around the idea of somehow being boarded is a good way to get those mercs riled up, and for some reason, riled up mercs sounded like a bad idea.

"But yes. We will go floor by floor with teams. And yes, we will start on the floor above us, where the security hub is located. Each team will take an elevator, if the damn things still work."

"Floors will be assigned to teams after we check the floor above us, and hopefully we can get that damn alarm turned off."

"And dammit people, put your clothes on."

Orders:
Check the room first.
Guide the teams into the two elevators.
Docs team takes the one she is near.
My team takes the other.
Go up one floor.

SonsOfStalingrad
6th February 2012, 15:51
Like hell was Natalia about to do that. She needed medicine. She was almost feeling... NORMAL.
couldn't have that. Normal was both boring AND uncomfortable. Plus, she had no scalpels.
She needed those. All of her medical supplies were VITAL.
As soon as that lift opened, she intended to key in the location of her medical bay instead.
Besides, the other team would be checking out that floor anyway. What was the point in being two teams then both looking at the same spot? Could search quicker in two teams.
Could search even quicker if they just dropped two people off on each floor, but that was probably too obvious to even occur to the captain, wasn't it?
She gave a nod to pretend she heard and understood the order, muttered a 'yessir' and then begun to make up a little rhyming song containing the names of all the various medicines she knew.

Mali32
6th February 2012, 15:53
Mark heads over to the doc with the others.

"Well then doc. Looks like we're on a team together. Would you like a hug so we can begin the team bonding and all that bullshit?" he asks with mock enthusiasm.

SonsOfStalingrad

Quizzical, empty eyes take in Mark as the sarcastic oaf approaches.
Why was it speaking? Did it really have to? Couldn't it be quiet? She was quiet. It should be too.
Pausing in her drug song, she simply muttered 'notouchy' and then continued where she left off without missing another beat.

Having been calmly and carefully stretching her muscles out while the others went crazy, Sarah found the feeling of someone touching her quite annoying and uncalled for. In the space of a second she opened her eyes, aimed, and punched the offender in the throat. "Fine, I'm up." A minute to get her jumpsuit on and it's time to figure out this whole mess. "Captain. Any idea what's going on?"

Silas
6th February 2012, 17:33

Natalia's lip curled in disgust.
It wanted to touch her.
Touch.
That was practically a marriage proposal.
She wasn't about to start thinking about THAT. That was far too complex to think about with.. THAT ALARM!.
She tilted her head towards the nearest source of the noise, then made eye contact with mark.
"I would suggest you not continue unless you wish for that to be inserted in you." she narrowed her eyes. "I'm a doctor. I can make it happen."

Once the crew have come out of the Cryo daze, they put on their jumpsuits in various fashions and check the pockets for anything that may be of use, but only finding disappointment as their hands grasp into emptiness. Brox splits the crew into two teams almost immediately and sends each team to the elevators at either side of the room. The doors of the elevators spring open at the same time.

SonsOfStalingrad Thatfatguy Loner Mali32 DCLXVI
Natalia rushes in ahead of her team and quickly presses "Lvl 3" while the others follow her in. The elevator jerks before becoming more swift and stopping abruptly. The doors open wide on Level 3 of the ship revealing a dark corridor lit up by the red flashing of the alarm, closed by elevator doors at the other end. To their left is the Cargo Hold, and to the right, the Kitchens and Dining Hall.

Silas SGS sneggy SourImplant scythes
The captain waits for his team to get ready before leading them onto the lift and pressing "Lvl 5". There's a jerk as the elevator kicks into action and then stops suddenly. The doors open revealing a dark corridor lit up red by the alarm that continues to ring in their ears. To their right are the Mining Drills; six of them all primed and ready for once they reach their destination. To their left is the security hub; an array of screens that have yet to be turned on, and a comms outlet with three buttons either side, labelled as each level of the ship. There's also a few key ports on the console indicating locked draws underneath, and a large locked cupboard at one end. Natalia and her team are nowhere to be seen.

ERRRR ERRRR ERRRR ERRRR

The alarm continues to blare at the two teams of the crew, with their only light being the dull red flash from it. Everyone on board feels a sudden jerk of the ship followed by a subtle groaning on Level 4...

Hurst stumbles, going to one knee in the sudden motion of the ship. He shakes his head, trying to clear his vision. Still seeing double. Or triple. Or maybe there really are a dozen people at the elevator with him.

Struggling to stand, he notices the large cupboard. Gotta be something in there that might clear his head. He tries pulling it open, but the damn thing is locked. Hurst looks around for something he can use to pry the cupboard open.

With only a grunt to show that he noticed the ship jerk, Jergen heads over to the mining drills and does a quick inspection making sure they're still ok. "Alright calm down doccy. Wouldn't really wanna hug you anyway. Might catch the crazies." Mark says in response to the docs threat. Mark says looking about for one.

"Damn that doctor..."

No time to deal with that now, she would be punished later. For now, he needed to see what he could manage here.

"Jergen, good. Keep checking on the drills, see if that is the source of the alarms. Sarah, go with Hurst and see if you can get the security hub operational, with that turned on, i can use use the local communications device. Noggy, clear the room, i'll check the comms. Let's make this quick, We need to make sure the comms outlet works so I can swear at the doctor and assign level sweeps."

Eddie sighs as the elevator opens on the third level. Pretty sure we were all suppose to go to level five...

The sudden lurch of the ship causes him to grab the edge of the elevator to steady himself for a moment, his eyes staring into the darkness, studying it intently before movement next to him made him react. With a quick motion, he reaches out to grab Garath by the shoulder, "Hey hold on. Let's move out together." He points towards the medical bay, "Let's let the Doc get whatever supplies she needs and wants before securing the rest of the level." That should pacify her and hopefully make her more agreeable.

He turns and nods his heads towards the other mercenary, Horst. "Let's go."

Eddie starts to move into the red hued darkness, cautiously but with a confident purpose, his eyes scanning the expansive cargo bay as he approaches it. Whatever that noise was I heard, sounded like it's coming from below.... great.

The doctor visibly smiles a pursed-lip smile as the lift opens at the third floor. Triumphant, she goes to step from the lift, only for the shake to knock her down.
The floor... so nice and cool. She paused, focussing on the feeling. She gently stroked the floor plating before getting to her feet and watching everyone quibble.
This one... Eddie.. He was at least a more interesting one than the other subjects. And wasn't convinced that the boogieman was lurking on the ship ready to eat them in the dark corners, too.
"The ship...." she said slowly and quietly, but at least clearer than the mumble, "Is probably just falling apart. It does that sometimes, remember? How long have we been asleep? The bump, our early revival... Probably nothing. Just... dead metal being dead." she sighed, beginning to walk towards the medical bay, "Oogieboogie won't be waiting for you. Cargo hold just has... cargo. Noise was down one anyway. So he's not here."
A casual glance met Eddie's eyes, hinting for him to follow as she proceeded to the bay.

If the door is workable, she'll go in, throw on her nice white doctor's coat, load up a medical case with her favourite various drugs, scissors, scalpels, all that good stuff a doctor should have... before stuffing some sugar-free lollipops into the breast pocket and packing a small portable heater and a rather large, flat spoon into the case. After this, she'll be content to rejoin the others and even go down a floor, if they want to go find the noise.

Noggy moves to begin insecting the area, making sure not to stray out of earshot of the other crew members and searching as he goes. Obviously look for any signs of life or recent visits by anything alive. If possible grab myself something to arm myself (at this stage a hunk of metal to swing will do) and try to establish if anything but us is on this level. Garath recovers from the jolt of the ship and heads single-mindedly for the kitchens, but finds the door security-locked that can only be open with a key-card, or by the ships computers. Mark looks around the area for something that might give them light, but the walls are bare but for the vents and doors in them. Madsen makes his way into the Cargo Hold whilst Garath continues thumping at the Kitchen door whining he's hungry. In his search for weapons he finds a few cupboards and drawers littering the walls of the Cargo Hold, but they're all locked shut. There's also a few large boxes which are also locked shut, some space suits locked behind a perspex door, two buggies held in place with chains, and the large Cargo Hold door, with small, closed-off halls either side with two locked doors either end of them.

Natalia and Eddie ignore the others and head straight for the Medical Bay at the other end of the level. Fortunately this door is open. They find themselves in a small decontamination tube that douses them in a smokey gas for a few seconds before opening the door on the other side. The room inside is pristine white, with not a speck of dirt to be found. Next to the decontamination tube entrance, there's a retina-scanner and hand-print analysis device with a large box beneath with a large, red cross painted on. In the center of the room is a table large enough for a seven foot muscular human to lie on comfortably, which slopes slightly into a drain and plug at one end. There's two beds attached to one wall with various life-support machines and computers beside each one. On the opposite wall is a long desk with a microscope attached. Locked cupboards line the wall above the desk which indicate what medicines and medical gear lie within. The cupboard indicating Scalpels interests Natalia the most, but first she needs to find a way in. Lastly there's a cupboard against one wall that Eddie manages to open and finds a white coat inside. He checks the pockets and enjoys a sigh of relief to find that there are no scalpels or drugs in them.

Silas SGS sneggy SourImplant scythes
Meanwhile on Level 5, Hurst strides up to the cupboard and tries pulling it open, to no avail. He then proceeds to search the area for something to pry it open. There doesn't seem to be anything laying around at all. Everything's either fixed to the walls or safely locked away.

Brox assigns the group to their individual tasks before heading towards the Comms outlet and aimlessly speaking into it. Nothing happens as he realises the Security hub needs to be switched on. Sarah gets to it, trying to makes ends meat of the hub. She studies the key ports and the drawers below them trying to figure out a way to get into them. The keys are nowhere to be seen, and there's nothing to indicate where those keys might be.

Noggy scours the level looking for anything that might be alive, and anything that can be used as a weapon, but there's nothing loose around, and the only living things he can find are his own crewmates. Jergen heads to the drills and studies them closely. They all seem to be in working order, with no indication that they've been damaged and/or that they wouldn't work when required. He also notes that the drills are fitted securely by hydraulics in the roof which will lift and lower the drills when necessary.

When he gets in there he leans against one wall and says "Judging by the lack of any comm chatter or lack of annoying alarms the others havent done much better than us. May as well head up to the bridge and see what we can get sorted from up there."

"Alarm. Kill it." she muttered pushing her way to the elevator. Regardless of any other people's wishes, she pushed the 4th floor button. Natalia exists her Medical Bay and makes straight for Eddie, brushing past him and pressing "Lvl 4". Eddie quickly jumps in as the doors close. The doors open again revealing a huge large room. They step out into it and the doors behind them close once again. Eddie immediately notices the Heating and Cooling systems to their left, and notices that there's a huge red light flashing on the Cooling System. He goes up to it and studies it. There's a monitor between the two systems picturing a digital thermometer with a large red line slowly rising up it. This could be the source of the emergency; the Cooling System seems to be disabled, so the Engine Turbines are getting overheated. Thankfully they remain well inside the explosion threshold.

Meanwhile Natalia studies the rest of the room. She identifies the two engine turbines and Comms outlets. The engines appear to be running fine as far as she can tell, but she's not getting anything out of the Comms. There's also a large perspex room. Most the perspex is misted up, but she can see green inside. The door to it remains locked, however. Suddenly the turbine next to her starts making a clunking and churning noise. Jergen looks about the bridge looking for somewhere he can fiddle to try and get things working, but he's interrupted by the Captains orders. Brox settles into his chair and opens a security lock with a simple retina scan. He takes out a couple of keys and hands one each to Noggy and Mark. He then empties the container of the rest of the override keys and stashes them in his pocket. Sarah stands guard over him, and Madsen heads to the stairway to guard it.

Noggy and Mark (auto-ing you as you haven't posted) slide into their chairs and insert the override keys into a lock on their separate hubs. Suddenly the hubs boot up, lighting up the room in different coloured lights. Noggy checks the ships course. The interface is fairly easy to use, so he manages to get up the flight path and the crews current location. Everything seems to be in order, but they're still eleven lightyears away from their destination.

Meanwhile Mark starts getting the ship out of lock-down. He starts by turning all the lights on throughout the ship. The bridge lights up once again, temporarily blinding everyone on board until their eyes adjust. Madsen watches as the stairs light up all the way down, and he can see Level 2 at the bottom of them. Mark then gets on to opening everything up. One of his screens lights up showing him the locked doors. As he goes through, the screen shows the doors being unlocked, but there's a delay with the Kitchens. Must've been a computer glitch as the Kitchens unlock and everything else unlocks smoothly afterward.

Noggy goes through the system to find out what's caused the alarms before he can turn them off. He discovers some kind of interference on Level 4, but for some reason he's completely blocked out and can't see what it is. The alarms won't go off until the problem is solved. Frustrated, he goes back to the ship's trajectory and compiles a report which he sends directly to the Captain's hub. Mark finalises the end the lock-down by opening up the shutters on the Bridge, revealing a vast blackness dotted with tiny lights. It appears they're still well within the galaxy system, which can only be a good thing.

Not wanting to piss everyone off, he leaves it and heads to his quarters.

Jergen leaves the bridge and over the top of the steps over to the Computer Servers at the other end. He finds himself in a large rectangular room with a seat at either end facing the wall. He sits down in one of the seats and is startled when the wall in front of him starts to shift and change. Before he knows it, he's staring at several screens and a hub of buttons, dials and levers.

"Good Morning Jergen Schlagger." A soft womanly voice echoes about the room. "How may I be of service to you today?"

Madsen soon recognises the voices of Natalia, Eddie and Garath, but they disappear. Before he knows it, everyone is brushing past him as they leave the Bridge and all head in separate directions. He notices Jergen precariously make his way over the top of the stairs to get to a room Madsen hadn't noticed at the other end. He sighs as he looks around for a weapon of some kind, but finds no such thing on the stairwell, or on the Bridge. It's on the Bridge he hears a whisper. A faint whisper, but the voice is deep and cold. He can't tell what it's saying as it seems to be in another language. Then the whispers stop suddenly.

Smiling for the first time since she woke up, Natalia loads up a medkit with the usual supplies - scalpels, gauze and wound dressing, adrenaline shots, pain killing injections, sedatives, as well as some less well-known illegal drug injections and some nice bags of powders that can be used in a variety of ways to relive pain, worry, fear and just about everything else. Pausing for a moment, she tosses in some surgical needles and thread, super glue and a small bottle of alcohol to help treatment.

The Captain then presses a hidden button to the side which opens up a wrack of keys. He takes one on the end and throws it to Sarah along with orders to open up the cabinet. He then feels it come to a close, and the doors open revealing Level 5 and it's current 3 occupiers; the Captain, Noggy and Sarah. They're loading up on weapons.

Mark heads over and grabs himself a Shotgun and Pistol also, leaving 6 Shotguns, 2 Pistols, 3 Batons, and 3 suits of Armour. The four of them then give the strange devices their attention.

Jergen fiddles with the Cooling System some more. He manages to fix the problem and switch the Cooling back into place. Unfortunately the loud noise created by the second turbine is still deafening, so must still be in overdrive. At least now he can get near it to fix it. He gets the feeling someone is shouting at him, but he doesn't hear and continues on.

The Captain, Sarah, Noggy, and Mark all watch as Eddie, Natalia and Garath disappear behind the closing doors of their elevator. That brings two of the creature's attention to them, and the third to Jergen who remains at the other end of the deck. The four of them get into a good position next to the noisy Engine Turbine, and use it for cover now that it's heat-output is dying down. Two of the creatures start making their way towards them, leaving only a short distance between them and the Captain's group.
Brox lays on the first shot, catching the creature in it's chest, but the creature just stumbles back.
Noggy keeps a look-out round the other side to make sure they're not being flanked, and notices the creature's tendency to stick together. He fires his Shotgun at the one closest to him, but it morphs shape causing the shots to miss completely.
Mark takes the opportunity to take aim at it. The Sight Matrix kicks in and shows Mark where the best place to aim for is, and he takes his shot. It catches the creature in it's chest. It stutters back, almost falling to the ground. A huge hole is left where it was hit, and it appears to be sparking inside (49 Damage).
Sarah takes her shot with her shotgun at the one the Captain caused to stumble backwards. The creature seems to have gained it's footing however, and manages to dodge out the way with lightning speed.
Both creatures remain a short distance away, but not close enough to attack themselves.

Sarah follows up with another shot straight away. This time the shot hits true, but only skims what appears to be some sort of dense shell (10 Damage). The creature stumbles back once again.
Noggy fires another shot at the one closest to him and hits it in the torso. Suddenly the creature falls to the ground and disintegrates into a million little pieces that slide across the floor in all directions, and absorb into the walls (115 Damage - Dead).
Mark uses the Sight Matrix to take aim at the other creature. Unfortunately he's too hasty with his shot and the creature manages to morph it's dense shell to deflect the shot.
The Captain takes another shot at the creature, letting the Sight Matrix identify the best target on the creature's body. He pulls the trigger and causes a hit which manages to penetrate the shell, but not much else (61 Damage). It stumbles back further, creating a larger distance between it and the group.
The creature manages to regain it's feet, but stands motionless. Mark and the Captain's Sight Matrices point out that the creature is now beyond the range of the Shotguns they're carrying.

The third creature continues to lumber towards Jergen, closing the distance between them...

Hearing the shotgun blasts (hopefully), Jergen turns around to spot a strange creature heading his way. "What the hell is that thing?" He looks about quickly to see if there's anything nearby to protect himself with, preferably a large pipe wrench or something of the sort. He then takes a defensive stance and does his best to ward off the creature.

If I don't hear the shotgun blasts....Jergen continues working at the control station, oblivious to the danger creeping up on him, and tries to get the engines back under control.

Mark hangs back near the Elevator whilst the Captain moves in the opposite direction, closing the distance between him and the creature. Once in range, he pulls the trigger, aiming at the pretty red circles dancing about his vision. The shot just clips the creature, causing no damage (the creature needed to roll a 96 to dodge the shot, and it rolled a 96 exactly). The creature closes on him, now within arm's reach. Before Brox can react, the creature unleashes a flurry of attacks, but they fall short. Brox follows up, using his shotgun to batter it, but the creature manages to parry the blow. With Brox off-balance, the creature attacks again, sending a flurry of tiny razorblades that scratch at his armour plating. The Captain strikes again with the butt of the shotgun, smashing the creature's head in (21 damage). It shatters, but the main body continues with a relentless attack at Brox's face, but he manages to block it with his arm leaving scratches along the armour plating. With a swing of his shotgun, Brox strikes what remains of the creature in the side, but the creature just swallows the shotgun with it's body. The Captain watches as the shotgun is slowly dismantled like a doughnut dismantled by a swarm of ants. The creature thrusts towards him, but a simple side-step causes the creature to fly onto the floor where Brox stamps on it (DEAD). There's a loud screech as what remains of the creature disperses in all directions across the floor and into the walls of the ship.

Jergen turns round at the sound of Shotgun blasts and sees a hulking, black humanoid towering over him. He quickly grabs round the back of the Cooling System and finds a large pipe. Before he can swing the pipe round, the creature is on him. Jergen feels a thousand sharp blades across his chest, but not digging deep enough to cause any damage. As Jergen swings the pipe around, the creature attacks again, but Jergen manages to dodge and finish his swing, hitting the creature in the torso. There's a crackling noise as the insides of the creature sparks (16 damage). In retaliation, the creature sends a flurry of blades at him again, but Jergen ducks. The creature sends a second flurry below catching Jergen in the legs and slicing them both open (-57 Health). As Jergen stumbles to the ground, he swings the pipe at the creature, but it bends and morphs it's body out the way followed by another slam of tiny blades into Jergen's back, breaking through the skin and causing uncontrollable bleeding (-54 Health). Again the creature attacks, but Jergen manages to roll across the floor just in time as the blades cut into the floor where he was. With another swing of the pipe, the creature ducks, dodges and morphs all at the same time, sending the blades at Jergen twice more. Jergen feels a sharp pain in his chest (-73 Health) as only one set of blades manage to catch their mark. He feels the blood pumping out his body as he tries one last stab and thrust with the pipe using the last of his strength. The creature's arrogance is it's downfall as the pipe stabs into it's side, taking a large chunk out the other end (56 damage). The creature stumbles, but has enough strength remaining to send two more sets of blades towards Jergen as he lie bleeding on the floor. The first one scratches at his jumpsuit and the second hits him in his left arm, knocking the pipe out of his hands...

"I could use a little help over here guys," he says as loudly as he can cursing the creature through the pain.

She waits only long enough for the debris to be moved before starting to treat the wounds as best she can with the tools she has with her. Anything that can't be fixed, she'll botch some other way to at least slow down its fucked-upness (shutup that is a word) - you know the sort, splicing this thing onto that thing, putting a knot in that, and removing those things entirely. Whilst working, she will merrily sing a rhyme involving any body parts and organs she happens to see (and poke back into place)

If it's unsafe to get the debris off before treatment:
With a disappointed look, Natalia sighs and speaks to the patient, "Now how did you fuck up this badly?" "I just feel a bit...sick I guess. It shouldn't be anything major, it's probably just from the Cryo-sleep." The Captain takes him back into the Medical Bay anyway, and tells him to lie down on one of the beds to rest up. Sarah follows, keeping her Shotgun trained on Oldman at all times should he turn hostile.

Meanwhile Mark takes a look at the Elevators. The panel appears to require some force to get open so he searches around the Cargo Hold for something that would help. He manages to find a crowbar in a draw alongside what appears to be Missiles, behind some large loading suit. He wedges the crowbar in behind the panel and pulls it open revealing all sorts of wires. After fiddling with it for a bit, the wires spark and the elevator doors open revealing the elevator without a light on. He takes a look inside to make sure it's okay and the doors close behind him, leaving him in pitch blackness. The elevator doesn't feel like it's moving though. Suddenly the light flickers on and a bloodied face flashes in front of his eyes. "My ship" It wails "My ship. My ship. My ship." The light flicks back off and the doors open once more. He sees Noggy staring at him with a confused look on his face as if to say 'What the hell happened to you?' Then the elevator doors at the end of the room open with Jergen hanging off of Natalia's shoulder.

Suddenly they all notice a distinct silence as the alarms stop blaring.

Natalia helps Jergen to his feet and they make their way to the elevator. Natalia presses the button repeatedly. After a while of waiting, the doors open and they both get on. There's a small jolt, followed by another, and then the doors open to Level 3. They see the back of Noggy, and Mark beyond him who looks like he's just seen a ghost.

Suddenly they all notice a distinct silence as the alarms stop blaring.

Meanwhile Eddie remains with Garath as he inspects the other engine turbine still in overdrive. After a little bit of fiddling, the engine starts to slow, and the large thrumming sound with it. Eventually the alarm stops blaring as well, leaving the two of them in comparative quiet, with only a low quiet hum of the turbines left.

Then there's a clank from within the green, glass room...

I don't want to be dropped 5 floors to my death. Natalia, watch out for Oldman, he's not looking.... normal. The ram-creature swings the ram round to where Madsen is, but he ducks and dives out the way as it smashes into the wall. It follows up with a push at Madsen, pushing him off his feet. As he stumbles to the ground, he puts out his arm but hears a crack from it as he makes contact (-31 Health). He doesn't have enough time to yell as the ram is upon him again. He dodges out the way as it smashes into the ground beneath them. It clumsily tries to swing the ram out, but it's trapped in the floor.

The wounded creature steps in with a kick to Madsen's face, but Madsen manages to roll to his back to avoid it. The creature stabs the blade down, but Madsen kicks it out of the way causing the creature to stumble and the blade to slam into the floor wide of it's target. Infuriated, the creature whips it's other arm, but Madsen is able to block that and uses it to get back onto his feet. The creature attempts another stab, but Madsen manages to dodge beyond it's reach.

Madsen returns the stab with a stab of his own. The blade cuts deep into the creature's torso. As he rips the knife back out, it's followed by a million tiny pieces of metal that spray all over the floor and absorb into nothingness (DEAD). The ram creature is still upon him. As he ducks another attack, he lunges for it, but it manages to morph out the way causing Madsen to smash headlong into the wall behind it. Madsen kicks back with his foot, striking the creature's back. The impact causes the small crater to appear and the creature is shoved forward into the opposing wall (66 Damage). Madsen follows up with another kick, but the creature spins out the way. He slashes his knife at the creature and it scrapes along the armoured ram leaving nothing more than a scratch. He follows up with a stab, wedging it behind the ram and twisting. The creature falls away into a million little pieces that absorb into nothingness (DEAD). Madsen looks around at the wrecked bridge to find himself completely alone, and searing pains throughout his body.

Before long Jergen is feeling as good as new (+181 Health). Suddenly there's movement from the other bed as Oldman begins to have a fit.

Meanwhile Mark turns to re-attend the creepy elevator. He fiddles with the wires a bit, and finds that everything should be working perfectly fine. He cautiously gets in with his gun at the ready, and presses Level 5 to test. The doors close and the panel sparks. The lights begin to flicker and then the elevator starts to move. Suddenly it stops and the doors open to Level 5. Feeling happy about that, Mark presses back to Level 3. Doors close, elevator shunts up, doors open, and he's greeted with the view of Noggy pointing a gun at him cautiously.

Mark shoves Noggy's gun out of his face and proceeds to the kitchens. Inside he finds a large room with a large round table in the middle, with ten chairs set up around it. At the end of the room is a door to another room, and a large pass-through between them. Mark peers through the pass-through and sees an empty, clean, and completely untouched kitchen, so he enters and looks for some food. It doesn't take him long to find a walk-in fridge containing all manner of mouth-watering delicacies.

Meanwhile Garath inspects the panel to see what it actually does. His answer comes when the panel begins to flash red all over, the alarm returns, and a soft female voice calmly explains how oxygen levels are decreasing. That must mean the panel maintains the oxygen and carbon dioxide levels.
