ok got to admit it, i actually really like the LoTR Strategy battle game, it makes a big change from the games I usually play even other skirmish games like malifaux. The simplicity of the rules also appeals to the Mrs, and it generally has some fun dynamics in it (pretty much all the "optional" rules as well as the obvious might, will, fate etc.)

Now this is a loooong shot but was wondering who else her plays?

also got my 500pt Harradrim listo here (which is an even bigger long shot) and wondered if anyone else had any suggestions, tis only a fun list not a tournament heavy or anything.

Warband 1:
Dalamyr - 100pts (basically uber assassin with smoke bombs that cripples characters/monsters)
12 Harad warriors, with a banner and spears - 108pts

Warband 2:
Haradrim chieften with bow - 50pts (provides heroic shoot to the unit if i need it)
12 Harad warriors of Karna with Bows - 108pts

Warband 3:
The Undying on armoured horse - 135pts (a real ass to get rid of, and once the enemy is broken can reduce their courage of their heroes and help make their force run.)

501pts

Play? Yes, though not in a while.

Suggestions? Sorry, not really, too out of the loop.

SBG is IMO the best ruleset GW has.

It is unjustly looked down upon by a majority of people for "the real game" of WFB *rolls eyes*

Has a lot going for it, so just wondered whom else played.

700pts is i feel the place to stop, so looking at the next 200pts being a Hasharin leading a warband of 12 black numenorians who would then be supported by the spearmen who would take advantage of their fellows high defence. does mean 4 blisters of metal models, but works out about the same price as buying haradrim cav.

which army ye play then Bara?

I have an Easterling army of about 400 points, but haven't played in a while. I liked the model-by-model route as opposed to fighting as squads, but when 2 armies with high Defence play each other, nothing seems to happen.

yup could see that happening, so prob best to play scenarios which don't depend on killing each other with that kind of set up then to avoid dull games - luckily ( i guess) my haradrim have low defence.

Mostly I used Galadriel with Elves. Blinding Light first turn to make you resilient to enemy missile fire then Compel (or whichever one she has) key enemy models for Swordsman to kill whilst Archer + Spearman fight in pairs to shoot stuff then gang up on anything that gets close.

I also tried Rohan for the challenge of trying to use all cavalry, but with initiative and heroic charge it doesn't really suit the mechanics of the game, and you have to concentrate on taking down their heroes first so you can use heroic moves to run away on turns you lose the initiative roll (obvs if they have heroes left they can issue a counter-HM to hold you in place).
