Still tight vs bigfishboy, I threw away a big material advantage in this game.

@6^: you should have taken my Bishop. King would have got your Rook, but the pawn would have Queened and it was game over (you'll win anyway, but still).

My mistake in our game was not exchanging Queens at the first instance, by moving the Knight (IIRC) I allowed you to level material.

Nah, I worked out the different moves for the King and best case scenario you have Pawn, Rook and King vs my King.

I could even have mated myself against just the advanced Pawn and the Rook if I'd played it wrong.

Remember Queen always starts on its own color. so if youre white your queen will be on the light square and if youre black your queen will be on the dark square. Also somewhere it says board prefrence or edit board or something along those lines and you can change your pieces and board color if you want to.

@Ed: you can set really long time limits and make a single move a day (plus you'd be limited to max 6 games ongoing at a time).

No... Your pawn was stuck, and your king was stuck. You literally could not move. My pawn on the far left corner would walk up, become a queen, and kill you. It was a draw because the moment one player cannot make a move, the game is a draw. Its checkmate or nothing...

No... Your pawn was stuck, and your king was stuck. You literally could not move. My pawn on the far left corner would walk up, become a queen, and kill you. It was a draw because the moment one player cannot make a move, the game is a draw. Its checkmate or nothing...

Ya, I checked it out and it seemed like he didn't do very well against you and I'm doing much better in my game against you than enigma, but he's got a slight position advantage over me. I may just have been careless but I think if he keeps it up, it can get really interesting.

Yeah, had an embarassing loss against 6^. I think I underestimated him (and everyone else for the matter) during my first games. I actually played Warhammer Age of Reckoning at the same time, so I just made a move as quick as I could. After I lost do DCB I reckoned I had to concentrate a bit more. So now I'm taking my time with the moves. I was fairly good at chess a couple of years ago. Even got some tutoring by the second best 20> Norwegian. (He played with Magnus, if you know who he is)

I had to make that sacrifice to give myself a bit of a better position. I know what you mean by not paying attention. Because I'm playing with so many different players with varying levels, I get careless with the easier games and it shows up in the harder ones too.

That's cool that you got training form such a high ranking chess player. I got taught how to play by a friend who was really into chess and the best I can say was I played a 9 year old master level girl. She was the single most brilliant player I've ever met and her use of space/positioning was a real eye opener. I pulled a draw out of our second game which is saying a lot against someone rated 2350 :D

finally beat smurfy (stayed up an hour after i was going to go to bed to do it :D)

Smurfy lost his queen early on, but jeez, never seen such a good comeback. At several points I thought I'd lost. But finally, I got rid of one of his bishops and got my rook up with my queen at the top of the board and checkmated him.

Kudos to smurfy - would have won if he hadn't of accidentally lost his queen and it was close right till the end.
