I am going to assume that the lack of seething activity in the forums today is because of the new WoW expansion. So, I don't play WoW myself, and only got to level 11 the time I did, but still: How is the new expansion? Good? Bad? Meh-ish?

I've got my Death Knight up to level 59 and I'll be heading to outland soon. I've actually enjoyed it a lot so far. This is the first time I'll be in outland *friend of mine gave me a spare account with a 70 druid so I could play DK*.
I'm on Archimonde, PvP. Something that is annoying is there are a lot of roaming lvl 70's all over outland looking to kill DK's, or so I'm told.

I've just begun playing WAR, but to be frank find it difficult to keep my motivation up. Please say something encouraging about the game, so that I am tempted to continue to play
Also, damn WotLK, it makes the forum so sloooooooow.....

I got it, and frankly, am unimpressed. Compared to when Burning Crusade came out, and the first thing you see when you come out of the dark portal is a huge epic battle between the horde and alliance trying to hold off wave after wave of demons, and you gotta zip past and try to break the lines from behind, Northrend is the opposite. You take a zepplin into a town, and get a few quests like, feed this dog, and go fishing for some lost luggage. Even the first instance was just kinda dull. Nothing really special about the bosses than just get a tank on them and shoot it untill it dies. In BC, the first instance had some pretty tricky bosses.
Best part about Northrend though, I stumbled across some little walrus's riding turtles. Apparently they are friendly, and they look funny, so that's a plus.
Death Knights though. Wow. Their starting stuff is nothing short of epic. I nearly shat brix when the first thing I see is the Lich King standing in front of me and giving orders. Then encountering all sorts of characters that I had once killed and are all apparently back. The only thing to spoil it, was that the addon Quest Helper didn't work there, so hundreds of people who were trained to not even know how to look at the quest log for information were hopelessly lost and kept spamming the chat channels with "OMG WHERE IS THIS VILLAGE?" "About 10 seconds walk away from you to the east." "WHERE IS THIS GUY TO TALK TO?!??!" "I floor below you." Etc etc. Eventually I just left the general chat so I could enjoy the quests without dealing with people too lazy to read.

I spent $165+ on tickets to go see "Cats" (yes the musical) in Dec.
The lack of activity on my part is a result of you lot not really having anything to reply to, to be honest.
For the record..
JUST because your a 59 DK does NOT mean you can take on a Warrior in Full merciless gear.
I spent a good portion of todays WoW bitch slapping DK's all over the place. Coming up to me and demanding a duel like their all that and a bag of chips.
I've seen level 64 Huntards give me a harder time.

Sounds to me like someone ended up on the wrong end of a few giant angry red pets? In a hunter's defence, being Beast Mastery spec is one of the only ways I have ever been able to beat a warrior in a 1v1 fight. I just can't fend off a melee based class that gets in my face, and has an arsenal of moves to slow me and restrict me from getting away while I beat against you futilely with my whopping TWO melee based moves. I wing clip and run, you intercept and get right back in my face. That few seconds of immunity to slowing and whatnot is a godsend. However, I can't stand being Beast Mastery because it serves little PVE benefits.
Also, without our pet we would be useless. We would have enough time to shoot a mob once or twice, then scrable around while we hit things with our pitiful close range abilities.
Retardins, however, could definitely use a good round of fire from a nerf gun.

WotLK has been really sweet actually, it's been a blast for me. A lot of the quests are actually fairly interesting, I've been enjoying Northrend. My cousin made a DK that he's been grinding insanely fast, but now that he's in Northrend everyone's trying to gank him for the You've got Class achievement. That will likely go on for awhile.
The new instances are ok, nice and short. Maybe not totally creative but still fun. Looking forward to raiding myself.

I wonder the same thing. It has taken me nearly a week of roaming around and doing some quests, a few instances, and I JUST barely hit 71. I don't know how people are doing it so fast! I also like to explore though, so I take time to ride around, and subsequently be chased away from somewhere by some massive frost skeletal dragon. I also retract what I said about the landscape's being dull. Everywhere else but Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra look amazing. Seems to me like Blizzard spent tons of time working on that, and then a week before the game shipped quickly hacked together those first two zones.

I did try out the newest battleground today. It has nearly redeemed the expansion, in my opinion. Riding the siege tanks up into a base and blasting open the gates is fun. I love being on defense trying to hold the line, then having the gate get blasted open and falling back to the next one. Also, manning the antipersonnel turrets is VERY fun. I sit there and laugh as I rain down huge explosions on alliance players who can't find out how to get away from me.

My highest level is a 42 Blood Elf Fire Mage and my next is a level 18 Human Warrior. I love my mage though, I love the ability to knock something 3 levels higher down to half before they get into close combat, freezing them and killing them when they're lucky to get 1-2 hits.
Right now I've been experimenting with other classes, Level 15 rogue, 9 priest, 9 frost mage, 13 hunter, 15 paladin.

My Shaman hit 72. Levelling seems to go pretty fast if you're just trying to hurry up and level, doing quests and grinding a lil bit. I'm kind of trying to enjoy the questlines and take my time though. Been toying around with a lot of different specs, but have settled back on Elemental (like always!).
Got my Druid from 68 to 70 (doing Outlands), but stopped until my partner in crime can get herself a copy of WotLK. Waiting on her before I hit up Northrend on that character. I have however gotten my Druid plenty of Northrend shit off the AH, and am thoroughly enjoying my 14k hp in bear form. Gear's pretty awesome, but not quite as big of a change from BC as BC was from Classic, so it's cool.
I said I wouldn't do it, but I (reluctantly) rolled a DK last night. My Shaman's Leatherworking and Alchemy, so I thought I'd catch a DK up to him with Skinning and Herbalism, and make my DK my farmbitch. DK's level 58 currently, 125 Herbalism and 175 Skinning, so it's goin' slow but it's goin'. The starting area as a DK is hugely awesome, I think. Everything I did in New Avalon and Ebon Hold and Havenshire, felt really epic and like it built a lot on my DK's character. When I killed Mayor Quimby, and walked out into the crowd of citizens, I felt so epic. And when I had to kill Iggy (for the prisoner quest) I almost wanted to cry. The assault on Light's Hope Chapel was great too, and loved participating even though I didn't have to.
Observations about DK: Seems like they've got some pretty op'd PvP mechanics. DK in WSG moved the flag from the Horde hold to the Alliance hold without ever dropping below 10k hp, while being 4v1'd, and without a pocket healer. In Nagrand, a 68 DK just tore apart my Druid in a matter of seconds while I was bear formed. I dunno, maybe I'm just running into some really skilled/geared players. Another observation: Ran The Nexus with an Unholy DK Tank, freaking terrible. Just, the worst. Terrible damage mitigation, was barely able to hold aggro, bleh. Doing Sethekk Halls (and then later Shadow Lab with the same DK), the DK asked me if it was alright if he could tank, and I said sure. Same thing; terrible damage mit, bad ability to maintain threat. My Priest friend agrees that every DK she's ran with who tried to tank, has failed miserably. This has happened so much to the point that she refuses to group with DK tanks, and I'm borderlining on the same boat.
Overall, WotLK's pretty cool so far. It's a lot like BC if you ask me, just with tweaks and changes. Still interesting though And yeah, it's something of a grindfest, but WoW's always been a grindfest, and MMOs in general are as well. It seems though, that Blizz is gradually making the game more casual-player-friendly as time goes on, so, I guess that's good news for some.

The problem with a DK tank is that they are so new. A lot of players are still working the kinks out of the systems and figuring out what works well. I have run with a few and they perform quite well.

Out of Curiosity, what level does a DK have to be in order to explore the Eastern Kingdom? I went to Lights Hope in EPL and there was No one there. Tried heading west and was stopped by an invisible barrier, did I fail to properly download or what's the story here? My 70 can travel to Northrend just fine so is this some form of "safety" to keep level 55 DK's from running amok or what?

The DK starting area is kind of like an instance dungeon, Warden. Except it is open to all the DK's at the same time. As you progress through the quests, the area changes. One you complete the final quest you gain a hearthstone ability, kind of. That then takes you out of the instance part and onto the live server portion. Kind of ingenious, actually. I was wondering how Horde and Alliance would not only quest together, but not have any pvp going on to prevent Horde or Alliance Death Knights from leaving the area.

Gnomes is totally right. You have to complete the chain to free yourself from Arthas, and move on to the rest of the world. And I don't think doing the quests is so much about becoming good, as it is simply turning against Arthas. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, type of thing.

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a Battleground
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor Bear, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
A little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me, to me
Mama, I just killed a lock
Put my paws upside his head
Kept crit’n , now he's dead
Mama, life is lots of fun
But now they want take it all away
Mama, ooo
Didn't mean to make you cry
But If I get NERFED I'll still come back tomorrow
And Mangle on Mangle on, as if nothing really matters
Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down your spine
Your Body's laying at the feet of mine
Goodbye everybody - I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooo - (anyway the wind blows)
You don't want to die
I know you’ll wish Bears and Cats had never been born at all
I see a little silhouetto of a Rogue
Scaramouch, scaramouch will you do the Bear dance "NO"!
Thunderbolts and lightning - very very frightening me
FERAL, DRUID,
FERAL, DRUID,
FERAL, DRUID - magnifico
But I'm just a poor BEAR and nobody loves me
He's just a Warrior from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come easy go - will I let him go
Bismillah! No - I will not let him go - let him go
Bismillah! I will not let him go - let him go
Bismillah! I will not let him go - let him go
Will not let nim go - let him go (never)
Never let him go - let him go
Never let him go - ooo
No, no, no, no, no, no, no -
Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let him go
Beelzebub has put this devil of a bear on me
on me
on me
So you think you can gouge me and blind my eye
So you think you can DOT me and leave me to die
Oh baby - can't do this to me baby
Just gotta get out - just gotta get right out and HEAL.
Ooh yeah, ooh yeah

my bit of in-activeness since my last appearance is due to the new expansion, i feel bad for my warlock =( so nerfed so very nerfed but what can you do. i find lick king to be alot better then burning crusade so far in terms of content, but as far as raiding goes, its all too easy, why did naxxaramas have to become karazhan?

Yeah I've been blaming Blizz for that one since TBC, but thats what happens when you make Outland lvl58, and Northrend lvl65... It should of been elite 60&70, and they should should of made the originals Heroic.

To the tune of "Eye of the Tiger"......
Soft-Shelled Clam Meat
There's a troll, she's a quest giver
She's found in Shadowprey Village
She needs some bait and she wants you to help her
Refill her stock of fishing supplies
You'll get a new piece of equipment
And your rep increased with Darkspear
It'll help your Blood Elf get a raptor
You must be Exalted in their eyes
You need 10 Soft-Shelled Clam Meat
And you'll finish the quest
You need XP to to gain another level
And the enraged reef crawlers
Seek the clams just like you
You just may have to fight them
To get Soft-Shelled Clam Meat
Face to face, with Slitherblades
Battle them and some Makura
They're in your way so you'll just have to fight
It's a quest, you can't get them from trades
You need 10 Soft-Shelled Clam Meat
And you'll finish the quest
You need XP to to gain another level
And the enraged reef crawlers
Seek the clams just like you
You just may have to fight them
To get Soft-Shelled Clam Meat
Risin' up, out of the sea
Got the items you require
Swimmin' back to Shadowprey, homefree
To give Mai'Lahii what she desires
You need 10 Soft-Shelled Clam Meat
And you'll finish the quest
You need XP to to gain another level
And the enraged reef crawlers
Seek the clams just like you
You just may have to fight them
To get Soft-Shelled Clam Meat
The Soft-Shelled Clam Meat
The Soft-Shelled Clam Meat
The Soft-Shelled Clam Meat
