realism for those gamers who demand it. maybe it's strickly a diorama piece for those few who care nothing about the game but collect the models just to build them...they exist, i know they do, somewhere....

personally i reckon it looks pants... its not too bad onthe fron of the atlas, but it looks riduculous on anything else... if they'd made it look mre like the Abrams' plow itd have been a whol lot better....

Minefields do exist, as do tank traps. Well, they do in the old rulebook...not sure about the new one.

Space Marine codex includes Whirlwind missiles that lay down minefields.

If I were goning to take a mine plow on my tank I'd mount a bulldozer blade and call it a mine plow. I don't like that thing at all. Looks like it would add another 2 tons to the front of the tank.

Did you by any chance read the post above yours or not? Whirlwinds fire minefields.

Oh, and the design looks ass-ugly, but it would work.
The plough would absorb the detonations of the mine, not the tank, or other vehicles, ect. It would channel the impact away from the tank and wouldn't allow it to go up, and thus removing fear of shrapnel

Actually, the angle of the shield over the top is too sharp to channel the blast away. Ideally you want to turn the mine over as you plow forward, channelling the blast forward or down away from the tank. That plow would take one mine before becoming a scrap heap. The mine would most likely get scraped up with the blades and get caught between the blades and the shield and *boom.* No more shield, and then mines just roll right over the plow.
This is why there are engineers called to breach minefields even when the M1 guys have their pretty little mineplows installed on their tanks. Mineplows don't generally work for very long. ;)
[edit] And generally AT (antitank) mines don't have shrapnel. Today's mines are housed in plastic packed with explosives. The blast hitting the underside of a vehicle creates adequate shrapnel.

It looks okay, if not a little front heavy. The tank would probably tip over but it still looks kinda cool i guess...

hmm, IIRC there is part of the new rulebooks colour parts dedicated on how to make minefields.......

I rather like it, but the day when I am able to buy of the 'net is a little far away.

It wouldn't work for AT mines like Mutt said but I think it would work for AP mines, to clear a path for the infantry.
