Bad news I am afraid, but before it will make any sense let me explain the story of the making of Watchmen...

When the film and distribution rights were optioned Fox bought them in the nineties and it was there that the film rotted in development hell until Warner Bros bought the film rights from them, now Watchmen has always been considered an impossible film to make so when Warner Bros start to reveal and announce a release and distribution date...do Fox come in.

You see Fox still claim they have distribution rights and have taken Warners to court about it...and guess what...they won.

So not only will we see a delay in Watchmens release...but now it is also in the hands of Tom Rothmans hands, the man who always pressures for a PG-13 audience and below 100 minutes for each film

And with this all my happiness for the film is drained out of me and replaced with annoyance.

Yes, I heard about this...are you sure WB bought the rights? Anyways, guess we'll see no blood, a comedian whom just touches people inappropritely, an a rorzach who doesnt make any damn sense.

Oh great. What went from being, "Well, it won't be very much like the comic - but probably quite a good film" has changed to, "A shitty film that isn't at all like the comic and has been edited to hell."

Fan-tas-tic.

Noooooooooooooo!

I hope they don't screw around with it too much. Maybe they've learnt from The Dark Knight that you can have serious comic book movies. But even that was too tame.

Well Its official, Fox are getting ready for another Trial to STOP the release of Watchmen while Warners are preparing to try and stop them on January 20th...No Watchmen in March or ever at this rate until this is over.

And I think this video sums up this whole situation

Given that they changed the ending (thus making the whole story dubious and a potential exercise in pointlessness) I'm not overly moved either way. So it could get released cut to a hundred minutes and edited to PG13? A turd cut in half is still half a turd.

QFT.

I'm happy with the graphic novel until they do it right regardless. If they're going to do it wrong I'll still probably see it anyway but at least if it isn't released I'll still have $8.

That saddens me. Not only is that a storyline that deserves to be done right for the sake of the story, but to reduce the story to a PG-13 rating alone will kill many aspects of it. They probably won't be able to discuss the "rape" and other graphic violence that is portrayed.

And Fox is a stupid company. They absolutely suck. They are the ones the completely ruined Firefly. They were mad a Joss Whedon for not giving them full creative rights as they desired so they aired it out of order, late at night, against their rival networks best show... that screams intentional murder to me. I really wish Fox would somehow get run out of business...

Time will tell but a boycot on Fox is already underway and it involves Wolverine and there Programing...and I am going to join them, I want to see Wolverine but with Fox shafting Watchmen then sod it
