Ok people of the forums! Here's what I'm looking for. I'd like to figure out what 1st founding Legion my Chapter is a successor of.
Name: Sons of Roanalth
Basic Chapter Organisation: The Chapter I'm going for is made up of almost all infantry, this does include Dreadnoughts. This Chapter is usually mechanized, either in Rhinos, Razorbacks, or Drop Pods. Land Raiders can be taken, but only as dedicated transports for Terminators. Assault Squads are widely used.
Prefered Special Weapon: Meltagun
Prefered Heavy Weapon: Missile Launcher
Thoughts on what 1st founding chapter they could have sprouted from?
And the color scheme (C&C wanted)

Off the top of my head sounds vaguely similar to Raven Guard. They tend to be a more mobile fast attack sort of army.

If you can't decide, why not say they're one of the chapters who do not know the origin of their geneseed?

Name: Sons of Roanalth
Founding chapter: Imperial Fists
Chapter Master: Kharos Rithgar
Home World: Fleet Based
Basic Chapter Organisation: The Chapter I'm going for is made up of almost all infantry, this does include Dreadnoughts. Assault Squads are widely used. The Chapter has a limited number of Vindicators, only used in the times greatest need.
Prefered Special Weapon: Meltagun
Prefered Heavy Weapon: Missile Launcher
Prefered Heavy Support Tank: Very rarely used due to very limited Nimbers is the Vindicator Seige Tank.

Raven Guard? Without the jump-packs, bikes, land speeders etc. they don't sound too Raven Guard like. There's mechanised, then there's Raven Guard. Actually White Scars would be closer. And the grey and white colour scheme has a connection too.
The preferred weapon being a meltagun makes me think of the Salamanders, as they also like to heat melta weaponry.
If you wanted to make the trim green and keep the grey armour, that could be a subtle connection to their founding chapter.
I think you could probably pick any of the loyalist Legions besides say, Blood Angels (whose successors have the Red Thirst/Black Rage too) and Space Wolves as they are both very CC orientated.

Mechanised infantry. No assault squads, no devs, just tactical squads, but every one of them has a rhino attached.
I presume that's what he means.

I did realize how much sense that didn't make, edited.

So something like this?

That is a good idea. I shall think, think hard.

That would work, maybe some flame detail on the right shoulder pad, with the Chapter badge on the left?
Not sure if both the green hand and the green kneepad works though. I'd say pick on, either the hand or the kneepad. Keeps it simple, makes it work.

Honestly, you can use just about any loyalist chapter you want. Just depends how functional you want their geneseed to be.

Really the lack of heavy metal would more imply a new chapter that hasn't been around for long enough to get any yet.

They still have to come from somewhere though. Most new chapters are formed from Ultramarine geneseed. So maybe just use that?

If you want all the organs to function, then yes, stick with the Ultramarine stock.
