WIP: Beginning Blood Angels

I'd been looking to get out of vanilla marines for a while, and when the Blood Angles codex came out I jumped at the chance to play a power-armored unit that wasn't a smurf. What I didn't realize what that everyone else would jump on the wagon with me.

I'm chronicling the construction and painting of my army in this here blog, so anyone interested can give me feedback and advice.

     
  1. Snow Flock

    Yes I know the GW flock tends to be pricey (read: $8 for less than you feel you should get), and usually I'm the first to turn to an alternative. Their snow flock, however, is pretty amazing stuff. I based a couple models with it and it really does look like they're standing in little snows mounds of... well... snow.

    I get that this sounds like a shameless GW plug, but I really am 100% (and maybe a little more) pleased with one of their products for once.

  3. Assault Squad Sergeant Assembled!

    I've assembled the very first of my blood angels models, a Blood Angels Assault Squad Sargeant. His pointing arm had to get greenstuffed because it didn't fit flush with his torso. I still have to clean up the greenstuff a bit with a razor before I spray him, but this is just to show the basic pose.

  5. A Quick Description of What I Intend to Do With My Blood Angels Army

    I intend to paint my new Blood Angels army in part to develop my painting skills, and in part to turn 40K into a hobby that I really invest some time in (rather than the occasional painting session and game).

    I wanted to give my army a "snow" theme (like they're fighting in a snowy environment), but I'm not sure whether I will incorporate this onto the actual models themselves. I'm open to any suggestions anyone might have as to how to best represent this on both the bases ...
