Mission: Seize Ground (1 in a random place on the field. you shall never hear of it again. The other 1 is right in the centre of my 3 infantry squads in the wood)
Deployment: Dawn of War
Terrain: My bottom left going right: a crashed spaceship, big wood and then a hill (im not bothering with anything else because it was never used....AT ALL)
My List
http://www.40kforums.com/vb/entry.ph...Imperial-Guard
His list (from memory)
Chaplain with Jump Pack
5 Honour Guard with 4 Meltaguns and a Drop Pod with Deathwing Launcher
3 Priests with 2 Jump Packs
2 Squads of 10 Assault Marines with Jump Packs. 1 Power Fist and 2 Meltaguns in each.
My Deployment: I put my Company Command Squad and both Veteran Squads in the big wood.
His Deployment: He deployed nothing.
My Turn 1
The Platform Depstriked successfully onto a hill in my deployment zone. Decent LOS to everything on the feild. My Battle Tank and the Sentinel came on between the big wood and the hill. the Hellhound and the Eradicator were put between the crashed spaceship and the big wood. I pop smok on everything.
His turn 1
Drop pod came in, it scattered a bit but was well within melta range of my battle tank. A few meltaguns to the face later and my battle tank was no more.He kept everything else in reserve.
My turn 2
Marbo didnt come in (thank god!). Lots of shooting later and the Honour guard were no more. Despite numerous lascannons and the multimelta...I didnt do anything to the drop pod.
His turn 2
The Assault Squad with the chappy deepstriked behind the Eradicator and opted to shoot melta at it instead of running. A few roles later and the Eradicator is downed. His deathwing launcher also kills a vet.
My turn 3
Marbo comes in! right beside the assault squad and throws a demo charge their way...all but the chappy die! My Hellhound which had moved to intercept in the moving phase then IDed the chappy with his multi melta. Everything else shot the drop pod....again, NOTHING!
His turn 3
His last Assault squad then deepstriked next to my Earthshaker. Bang Bang Bang and the crew are dead. His deathwing launcher also kills 2 vets.
My turn 4
Moved the sentinel to fire on the assault squad. The hellhound moved to get in melta range of the drop pod. The hellhound finally downed the drop pod. The sentinels plasma cannon however had scattered off the table. The company command squad and the 2 veteran squads fired on the assault squad and downed 2 of them. Marbo also moves towards the Assault Squad.
His turn 4
He shot the sentinel with melta, but it did nothing. He then charged it. The Sentinel goes down and they cosolidate a fair distance.
My turn 5
*&£%$ not looking good for my vets. Everything fires on the assault squad...does NOTHING. Marbo also moves towards the assault squad.
His turn 5
He detatches his preist and has it charge marbo. hH then multi assaults my vets. THEY DIE! Marbo fights valiantly but is otherwise cut down (I fluffed the dice). His assault squad is now on the objective.
Rolling for turn 6
THE GAME ENDS!
One of the closest games I have ever had. Also one of the funniest. Johns a lovely guy and a real good sport. Both sides were getting hit real bad in each turn but he kept going and eventually it paid off for him. If it went to turn 6 he would have won, no question there. The list continues to do well. Which is very surprising because it is not intended to fight marines. Should have another game against him in a fortnight. He tells me he's not getting caught out by marbo againIn all, it was a great night and a close game. Looking forward to round 2!
