    Targeting the ground

with blast weapons is it possible to target the ground to maximise the damage these weapons do or does the centre circle have to be over a model?

    Re: Targeting the ground

Unless it says otherwise, it must target a unit.

There are some weapons that can however. Guess range guns are an obvious one. I'm sure there are some others as well.

    Re: Targeting the ground

Except that guess weapons no longer actually exist....you still target a unit (out of LoS) and 'guess' that it's in range.

Guess still exists in fantasy though, with cannons and such

Whops, my bad. Only played fantasy recently, guess my mind was still on it.

    Re: Targeting the ground

Yeah some weapons in 40k are still listed as 'G##' or whatever but that's just because they're behind new rules....there is a rulebook reference (no page on hand) that declares them to be standard barrage weapons with listed range.

    Hope that helps ^.^

    Re: Targeting the ground

I interpreted the barrage thing as you have to guess the range of all barrage weapons and then apply scatter

    Re: Targeting the ground

Definitely not in 5th ed. I don't know if that happened in previous editions...but a guess weapon is definitely just standard barrage.

You "guess" when not using line of sight...in that you place the template where you want it...then you don't get to use the firer's ballistic skill, and therefore the scatter can be up to 12"
