Re: New to Fantasy? Read On ...
I think you'll see a lot of them from now on. Due to needing a rank to break a rank brets will try and use cheap 6 man units of errants to do that, that will soon to be their main use

Re: New to Fantasy? Read On ...
Right, I wanna get into WHFB, but I want to get into it properly.
You list 3 ways to choose an army, then give a summary for each. But with 8th ed, how truthful are those summaries now? (I know from my 40k experiences armies can change playstyle with a shift to a new ed...).
How it looks; Planning to judge it by this way.. but many armies only have *some* units I like within them.
Background; Fluff interests my little in WHFB. So this isn't one for me :O
How it plays; this coincides with the first... I wanna play armies full of units I like the look of, but don't want to do this if I'm nerfing myself too much.
So the armies I like & the units within them;
Vampire Counts
Lords; Winged Vampire Lord, Necromancer with Staff, Aristocratic Vampire, Mounted Vampire Lord.
Core Units; Skeletons & Ghouls (Mantic's models).
Special Units; Graveguard & Black Knights (Mantic's models).
Rare Units; Blood Knights, Black Coach, Wraith.
Warriors of Chaos
Lords; Any
Core Units; Any
Special Units; Chaos Knights, Chaos Warriors Chosen, Chaos Trolls
Rare Units; Hellcannon of Chaos, Scyla Anfingrimm
Wood Elves
Lords; All but Treeman & Eagle Mounted Lord
Core Units; Glade Guard, Eternal Guard
Special Units; Wardancers, Wild Rider
Rare Units; Waywatchers
Liked tactically because;
I like Vampire Counts because I like the idea of the undead horde of skeletons & necromancy.
I like Wood Elves because of the idea of being skirmishers...
I like Warriors of Chaos because I like the idea of being a Combat-focused army.
I generally like Warriors of Chaos the most, but that's more for the models than anything at this point. Though I don't like the idea of running a mostly marauder army. (Which I've heard around is the case...) I like all the armoured models the most, especially the Chaos Knights,Chosen & Trolls! Plus what about all this god thing? How is that handle in fantasy? Is mono god the way? Dual god? etc... Because I'm not really sure what God I like the most at this point...
Plus does anyone have any knowledge of the 8th ed starter box release?... I don't like the idea of spending £45 odd for mostly fluff & pictures!
What life means to us is determined not so
much by what life brings to us as by the attitude
we bring to life; not so much by what happens to
us as by our reaction to what happens.

I'll reply in the thread you've made regarding this dude, don't see the point in typing it all out twice (I know I could copy and paste, but still).

Re: New to Fantasy? Read On ...
Its kinda a shame they changed the Beastmen, they used to play as a mostly skirmishing, combat centred semi-horde army, but anyway rumours I've seen that appear to be supported are of high elf / skaven starter set, another post I saw claimed to know the contents
http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=263409
but I havn't seen it myself, so can't vouch for the info
