Need Help: Color Schemes
Hello everyone, I am junior and just started 40k. I have a few questions. I have the space marine codex and rule book and not that big of an army. But do you have to color the space marines a certain color scheme like the ones in the codex or can they be completely on your own? Because I wanted to paint my guys green with gold highlights.
Any help greatly appreciated

Re: Need Help: Color Schemes
I think you should go with this paint scheme.

GW encourages players to make up their own color schemes for their own chapters if it strikes their fancy.

Re: Need Help: Color Schemes
My custom chapter are green with gold, if you want to check the link in my sig. They're not the best painted in the world (although getting better!), but they'll give you a decent idea of what that scheme might look like.
But yeah, paint them however you want - that's part of the fun!

Re: Need Help: Color Schemes
You can paint your models any way you want to. If you want to paint them with green leggings, purple arms, gold chestplate, red helmets, yellow backpacks, then put pink polka dots on everything, you can, GW has no problem with that. Though you might get some funny looks when you go to play them. You can also name them anything you want, your chapter could be the green lanterns, the no regrets, anything you want. Go wild, when you start painting, do a couple test models, paint one this way, then one that way, util you find something you like, you can always strip the paint on the test models and redo them.
Feel free to go wild with them, shoot, mine are scythes of the emperor from the previous space marine codex, but mine are undead. They're all skeletons in power armour, fun to convert models.

Your modals look good. What name have you given your chapter?
I did the same for my Legion of the Damned squad. Makes them look good and unique on the battlefield.Originally Posted by scythes

If you want to experiment with what colour schemes look good for Marines, use this interactive space marine painter. It can give you some ideas.

Re: Need Help: Color Schemes
Yeah they do but they took the cool chapter customisation section out of the new codex, so no custom rules unless your opponent agrees.Originally Posted by Kaffis
