    So, Vampire Counts....

How the bloody heck do you beat them. I just got my ass whooped by them. I did have some miserable luck, but I never really did stand a chance.

I'm pretty sure his army comprised of:

    Mounted Vamp Lord(lvl 3 wizard) with sword-of-bring-back-dead-models-from-the-unit-to-life, re-rolls to hit, and get-more-attacks-for-each-wound-inflicted.
    Mounted BSB w/Banner of Regeneration
    A couple of other vampires
A couple largeish units of Zombies
    A large unit of Skeletons
A 10 man unit of Blood knights with banner of +4 ward against shooting.

I used my 2250 point list in the Army List section.

I kept killing stuff(aside from the Bloodknights) and he just kept bringing it back to life. My hellcannon got one bloodknight on the first turn, but then misfired and blew up on the second. The Bloodknights got a unit of Marauders and were stuck against a unit of warriors for about 3 turns.

I really just could not kill anything fast enough that he would not just bring back(the blood-drinker sword is just not cool at all with bloodknights). I was relying largely on my magic to kill stuff, but he just kept dispelling it and I did not have enough dispell dice to hold back his magic(who the heck thought it would be fair to allow Invocation of Notek to be cast by the same model several times?!?!). Anyone have any tips?

Ah, the BloodKnight Bus, the trick of the technically useless.

Generally you'd bait them off, however you don't have the abality to do that due to having 0 Marauder Horsemen in your army, your also missing the other tasty Warriors Trick to taking it out in the Black Tounge(Spelling?) where you wait for him to fail on one dice, slice yourself, he miscasts and you alter it with the puppet to allow you something nasty or even better, kill said Vampire.

Basically, you need to get into combat to win and he's better at it than you with the uber unit, without altering your list to face it your always going to have issues, sorry

Well, I actually replaced the Enchanted Shield, Runesword, Favor, and Daemonic Steed for a Daemonsword and a barded steed on the Chaos Lord. Admittedly, he did kill himself, but he was doing admirably before that.

The highlight of the game was the Bloodknight bus hitting the large unit of marauders(there were reduced to about 15) and reducing them to 3 models. Those three marauders just squared their shoulders and gave that overpowered unit the middle finger(rolled double 1s for the break test ). Of course, the Warrior squad with the chaos lord attached then decided to flee instead of flank charge the unit. I'm getting some more MoS to spread around. Stinking zombies making my warriors run just because they have more ranks and outnumber them.

Do you think I need some Horsemen? Not just for fighting VCs, but in general. I was thinking of getting a unit of 6 with flails and MoS.

Defintally, they're easially (bar Disc mounted Sorcs) the most versitile unit in the list. For under 100 points, you get a nice unit, with 5S5 and 5S3 Attacks which won't panic, ignore fear and terror. They would in all fairness be the first two units in any list I wrote.

Another Option is to just take Nurgle Casters and Snipe out his Vampire?

Finally I'd say that they Bus is really a nasty trick, next time you face it you'll be so much better at facing it and remember (iirc) that the Tze spells are all flaming where missiles are involved and he won't get that 4+ Regen Save of Nastyness.

Cool, do you think anyone would complain if I used LoTR Warg Riders for Marauder Horsemen? Giant wolves>>>horses I'd put them on the proper bases and I have flails to give them.

One of the people around here plays VC, and the only way to play them is to snipe their character out of the game. Without them, they dissolve at a fast rate and you only have to fight the knights and other characters.

Or, swamp em with lots of Warriors, they can be bulldozed in a single turn with a good result because of their low Ld. They can't raise up a whole army in a turn and if you break through at one point you can kill of their characters.
