Vampire Counts 1k Friendly
I'm thinking about slowly building up a VC army relying heavily on Ghouls. What I was thinking of so far was:
Vampire(General) w/Ghoulkin, Summon Ghouls, The Flayed Hauberk, and Sword of Battle
180 Points
Vampire w/Avatar of Death, Summon Ghouls and Book of Arkhan
170 Points
13xCrypt Ghouls+Crypt Ghast
120 Points
13xCrypt Ghouls+Crypt Ghast
120 Points
Corpse Cart w/Unholy Lodestone
100 Points
Thats 630 Points so far, but nothing really that fast or hits that hard. I was thinking of getting a "Oh crap" unit that would support the core of the force here. Like some Cairn Wraiths+Banshee, a Varghulf, or maybe even a Black Coach(not sure about this since I want my PD to get more Ghoulies).
Anyone have any suggestions? Do I really need Zombies? Maybe not to buy as a unit, but to get from the "Raise Dead" spell?

Can't beat em, join em eh?
I decided on Bretonnians.

By this I mean, once, twice, or at the very most, three times, fate will reach out and tap a man on the shoulder… if he has the imagination, he will turn around and fate will point out to him what fork in the road he should take, if he has the guts, he will take it.” - General George S. Necromancer w/Extra Necromancy Spell, Black Periapt
85 Points
Nice support wizard. Ensures another Danse spell and gains an extra PD or DD as needed.
9xCrypt Ghouls+Crypt Ghast
88 Points

Why pay for what I can summon?
20xSkeleton Warriors w/Spears, Full Command, Banner of Hellfire
210 Points
The Battalion box comes with them and they seem like a nice unit for Static CR. Banner is nice and cheap and great for surprising etheral/regen enemies. I'm not so sure about the cost though. It seems a little high.
Corpse Cart w/Unholy Lodestone
100 Points
Varghulf
175 Points
Fast, hits fairly hard, and is a vampire. It's also kind of fluffy for it to be in a Ghoul oriented army.
996 Points. Comments, anyone?

Re: Vampire Counts 1k Friendly
I think it looks dandy, Lodestone does what again?
I keep hearing Balefire is better.

Re: Vampire Counts 1k Friendly
If you have the models for a fantasy battle by then, you'll be faceing my WoC as I can't afford a Battalion until the stupid company actually pays me for babysitting.
As for the Lodestone it is not as good as Balefire(enemy wizards are at -1 to casting if with 24"), but it is some help to my plan of raising up Ghouls(Units within 6" that are hit by IoN get one more wound[except Vampire units]) and Balefire is rather OTT IMHO. 24" is too much.

Only have 9 Knights of Realm and a BSB on a Pegasus. <_<

Re: Vampire Counts 1k Friendly
Maybe we can have a tiny battle with my 2 Vamps, 19 Ghouls, and a Varghulf against your KotR and BSB.

Re: Vampire Counts 1k Friendly
Looks good. Skeletons are a great addition at this pt. range, but I would go with a few more ghouls. If they get misplaced/blitzkrieg'd off the field, you're out a solid screen for your skeletons, allowing some serious damage if the opponent shot them down and can charge the skeletons with another unit. I liked the 1st list's arrangement of ghouls, but the 2 groups of 9 may allow for better skirmishing tactics (if that makes sense). Beyond that, the list looks nice. From here it's just trial and error 'til it works out.Anyway, back to list. Comments on changes in blue.

Re: Vampire Counts 1k Friendly
I guess I could get a few Ghouls to start with so that they don't get slaughtered, but what to drop to get more points?
The Ghouls squads are actually 10 models now 9+Champ.
