    Re: 40k Galaxy Index

oh, hehe, didn't see that part.

Anywho, i'm not sure I would like there to be another one. It would take a force beyond reckoning to get all the way to Terra and still be able to accomplish anything. Certainly more ships than the black crusades ever had, and that's probobly the biggest singular threat the Imperium has faced. The only reason Terra was threatened the first time was because Horus was in the unique position to gather a force matching that of the Imperium. Since then, so many precautions have been taken (notably the breakdown of the Astartes legions) to assure it can never happen again, that I really can't see a viable way for it to go down.

Now, thats all about chaos. Theres only three other races I could ever see threatening Terra. Tyranids if a large enough hive fleet (as in, many times the size of the current ones) was able to get there. Necrons whenever they get off their robot asses and actually do something, or Orks, if they were ever able to gather in a WAAAGH of appropriate size.

Tyranids are the only one I could ever see GW letting get that far. If Necrons ever woke up on a scale where they could attack Terra, then the galaxy is already humped. And lets face it, the orks are never going to unify on an sort of galactic scale. Hell, Armaggedon is I believe the biggest WAAAGH ever and that just ground into a stalemate. So, to my mind, that leaves Tyranids. At least with them, if you were somehow able to break their main fleet, the threat is largly destroyed. You still have splinter fleets to deal with, but with the main advance stoped, they are much less of a threat. Hence the reason I could see GW letting it happen. It would be cool to read about a apocalyptic war in the sol system with a tyranid fleet of unfathomable scope. With the appropriate heroic yet predictable Imperial victory which occurs just on the brink of defeat.

Remember; when things look bad, and it looks like you're not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plum mad dog mean. 'Cause if you lose your head and you give up, then you neither live nor win. Thats just the way it is.

yes i could see that happening. it would be a bit clique with the movies of incectoid alien masive fleet surrounding earth. but in 40k? it would be cool, it probably would be preluded by a with drawl of the other hive fleets arousing suspicion, and than as the nids attack, chaos breaks out of the cadian gate! wow! but probably wont happen.

In the Battlefleet Gothic Fluff, It mentions that the Necrons have attacked the Mars defence Bastion and although repulsed, it was suspected of being a "test" raid. In the scope of the Galaxy, the distance between Mars and Earth is rather small.

The only time ive heard of Necrons attacking Mars was when they were looking for the Nocturne Labyrinth (something like that) while they were looking for the [spoiler:2zslv7tx]void dragon who is located on Mars[/spoiler:2zslv7tx]

the goal isn't the point, its the proximity to earth. If they can attack Mars, they can attack earth. and if the force was a test raid, you cant tell how big the main force is.

Yes, they could in theory attack earth. But again, why would they? What they are looking for isn't on earth. It's on Mars. To them, Earth is just another random planet of things living in their galaxy uninvited.

Has this guy actually got the approval of GamesWorkshop and Black Library publishing? Cuase if he doesnt he won't be able to publish it without one hell of a lawsuit. I dont think even BL will let someone publish a book that will introdude new rules to the game and features every race in 40k

    Re: 40k Galaxy Index

Aldaris: On the eastern fringe of the ultima Segmentum lies a world called aldaris. First settled in early M35, Aldaris teems with life and abounds with resources. However, for everything there is a price. For unkown reasons aldaris goes through a multi-thousand year cycle of death and rebirth. Every several thousand years the planet's ecosystem is thrown into chaos, effects on the planet vary from area to area, but in some places the land is stripped bare. After a few hundred years the planet bounces back, and once again teems with life. The areas stripped completely turn to large grasslands, and the area's least affected grow from small forest to large jungles.

A short few hundread years after the colonization of Aldaris a large warp storm cut all contact with the imperium. Worse yet, a series of bureaucratic errors and snafus, led to all the data of the planet being lost. All alone in the middle of nowhere a blight struck Aldaris, wiping out half of the crops. The corrupt governor Markus hoarded all the wealth and food for the upper class, and select parts of the military.

A riot ensued among the lesser citizens and markus saw fit to regain control with an iron fist. A massacre in a city called He’in, he thought would quell the riot. He was proven wrong however when a full scale revolt erupted. After Markus’s death at the hands of the 88th Aldarian Phoenix Missile Artillery Company, the rebels quickly gained control.

For a half millennium Aldaris suffered with drought, plague and civil war. The planet almost died, and nearly all knowledge of the imperium was lost. By 776 M35 The planet had Bounced back to it’s former glory. A democratic government was installed, and cities flourished, once more. People Began to think, and experiment. Science was rediscovered and replaced the old religions. The war machines left over from the war for independence were no longer revered as majestic beasts but great machines. And whatever remnants remained were treasured and studied. The people once again enjoyed an industrial era style life.

By early M40 The aldarians had advanced quite a bit. however, a pirate fleet laid waste to the aldarians. The hulking behemoths proved a tough fight, but the aldarians fought through the worst of it and eventually drove the fleet away. The war had spurred a great advancement in aldarian military tech.

In 791 M41 The Aldarians began trading with an upstart civilization known as the Tau. However unbeknownst to the Aldarians the Imperium is drawing near, and the tau are pressuring the Aldarians to join in the “greater good”. The storms of war are brewing, for should the Aldarians accept, they will surely be slaves to the tau, and should they resist it will mean war.

I think this thread is for "official" planets only.

You're the only one who can hold your head up high
Shake your fist at the gates saying
    I have come home now
Fetch me the spirit, the son and the father
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended
It's time now, my time now
Give me my — give me my wings

Calibria (Ultima Segmentum): a feral planet inhabited by remnants of its original colonization and Tyranid swarms of an infestation that occurred in M37.

In M34 the planet was colonized to harvest the stone it has for Imperial structures throughout the system. It had become a civilized planet prior to the attack. The survivors had been separated into an unknown number of tribes throughout the crumbling remains of the cities.
The only known bodies of water are found miles underground and are accessed by an extensive well system. The planets surface is so rugged; ground vehicles are only able to operate on the streets within a city or on isolated roads that connect neighboring cities.

Its atmosphere is overcome with High altitude large particle dust storms which gives it a continuous overcast sky. In turn, direct sunlight has not touched the surface since before planet’s discovery. A Calibrian day is 18 hours long. Its year is 48 of its days.

The 28th Cadian/ Valhallan Regiment (28th CVR) has been tasked to eradicate any threats and retrieve as much data about the current status of Calibria as they can. The unit has yet to return with an update of status.
