Chaos Chapters
As I have started for Loyalist Marines, here is a collection of the Chaos Space Marine Chapters that I can find, and record. Feel free to add homebrew chapters, add fluff etc if you can.
Ok, updated most officially known Chapters. Feel free to alert me if there are more. And please, add homebrew to the mix.
-------------------
First Founding Legions who fell to Chaos
Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus/Black Legion
World Eaters
Thousand Sons
Death Guard
Emperor's Children
Word Bearers
Iron Warriors
Alpha Legion
Night Lords
Renegade Chapters.
Over the thousands of years since the heresy, many Chapters have succumbed to the lure of Chaos. Some split off from the Traitor Legions, others from Loyalist Chapters. Now, however, they are allied only to themselves and the Gods of Chaos.
(NB. Some Chapters are considered Renegade by the Imperium, as they have been declared excommunicate, however many of these Chapters are still Loyalist in terms of fighting. Thus, Chapters of this sort, for example the Soul Drinkers, are not included on this list.)
Perhaps the most famous of these Chapters is the Red Corsairs. Responsible for converting many Space Marines to the side of Chaos, they are a continual thorn in the Imperium's side.

My homebrew CSM chapter:
THE HOUNDS OF HORUS:

Date:..............4145999.M41
Ref:................LBC//Dur
By:.................Brother Arrius
Re:.................Adeptus Renegades - The Hounds of Horus
The Hounds of Horus have been recorded in and around the Eastern Fringe, earning themselves a reputation of vicious pirate raids and posing a threat to anything from trade ships to smaller colonies in the sector. These heretics are not a threat to be ignored.
Origins of The Hounds of Horus
The Hounds of Horus can be traced back to the Horus Heresy as part of the Word Bearers during the attacks on Ultramar. While the rest of Kor Phaeron's fleet retreated into the Maelstrom, Lord Artemis Draconis and a selection of ships were pursued by the defenders of Terra towards the Eastern Fringe. They then set about to regroup and colonized the red sanded world of Teirv as a base of operations. Soon later, they declared themselves independent from the Word Bearers, naming themselves the Hounds of Horus in honor of the slain Warmaster.
Soon it became apparent to Artemis that various trade routes ran nearby, and so he began a new order of piracy that brought Teirv great wealth and reputation as a central hub of outlaws in the Eastern Fringe. The Renegades then branched out to raid nearby colonies of both the Imperium and the Tau Empire. They remained particularly undevoted to the Chaos gods for a great while but that was all about to change.
With the appearance of the World Eaters raiding in the galactic east, the two began to work as one and The Hounds of Horus soon adopted the vicious fighting style of Khorne as their own. Another milestone came when Artemis was confronted by the daemon princess Viasha. She enjoyed the combat doctrine of the renegade chapter and so she decided to stay and lend the many pleasures of Slannesh to Artemis and his forces. With the two major chaos gods to guide their raids and an increasing fleet of pirated Imperial vessels, the Hounds of Horus are now a dominant renegade force in the Eastern Fringe that cannot be ignored.
Organization
Honor and rank within The Hounds of Horus is gained with the number of tallies or kills achieved by the individual. Higher ranking champions are usually seen with varying mutations, in similarity to their former chapter, these are viewed as blessings.
Homeworld
The Hounds of Horus operate from the red world of Teirv in the Eastern Fringe. A few hive cities, rife with crime, are all that dots the barren landscape. However, various warp rifts are often seen occurring across the wastes, making daemons a prominent threat to non cultists.
Combat Doctrine
The Hounds of Horus show the strength and power of Khorne on the battlefield, charging fiercely at the enemy in a mad blood rush. They have also been known to display the tactics of Slannesh, being exceptionally good at deceiving others and luring them into ambushes.
Beliefs
The Hounds of Horus view the Imperium as corrupt and the Emperor as a liar and a deceiver who uses the faith of humanity to bend society to his will. They view Chaos as a beneficial force that can be embraced as a new leader in a stronger humanity that will set the new order of the Imperium and bring truth to the many promises of Horus.
Battlecry
Flee my enemy! For Horus has unleashed the hounds of hell!

I'm still working on it. That's why they aren't there.
EDIT: Also, BTW, I reread my post above this one, and I sound well arsy. Sorry man, I didn't mean to come over like that.

Re: Chaos Chapters
it may just be escaping me, but what's the purpose of this list?
aside from the additions of homebrewed legions, it's just a bunch of links to lexicanum which anyone can just google for. so why not just focus on custome legions rather than repost links to another site...
Army (W/L/D)
CSM 0/0/0 (70% painted)
Tyranid 0/0/0 (updating)
Eldar 1/1/5

Re: Chaos Chapters
The purpose is to have one location that people can use to find info on existing chapters or whatever. And mainly as a place to put custom chapters. I fyou have one, add it. That's the point, until that happens then yeah, it's just a bunch of lists.

Re: Chaos Chapters
I've developed a traitor "legion"/warband called the Arch Angels or Luther's Arch Angels. Basicly they're Fallen Angels that have grouped together. Don't know all the details yet, but the new BA models are gonna help converting.
I added a pic for fun.

Re: Chaos Chapters
People are so mean to the Death Shadows. You have them under the "homebrew" chapter section when they belong in the renegade section, cause they are a GW registered chaos chapter. And some dumbass on Lexicanium keeps deleting their page if you ever post it up saying he can't find them anywhere. They are all over!
Links that prove their existence as a GW renegade chapter:
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/conte ... Id=1100022
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/conte ... 11&start=3
And they are also in the codex!

Re: Chaos Chapters
NIGHT LORDS 3RD COMPANY, "THE ABSENT".
For some old disgrace within the 3rd Company, they were shunned to menial and downright stupid tasks, escorting supply ships, planetary inspections of backwaters - and worse. Often the 3rd was away from the Expedition Fleets, and operated separately from the main force of the VIII Legion, the Night Lords. That was why they were called 'The Absent'.
During these random menial tasks their esteemed First Captain Zso Sahaal gave them, the 3rd stumbled upon the World Eaters in midst of a compliance war.
The 3rd of course, wishing for glory, quickly pledged their forces to Primarch Angron.
The Absent was a small company, new recruits seldom joined or reinforced them, and menial though the tasks of the 3rd, there were still casualties - by the time The Absent joined forces with the World Eaters, the 3rd numbered around 9 squads of Marines. They barely made up 1% of Angron's invasion forces.
During the course of the compliance war, the Captain of the 3rd, whose name is lost in time, was slain in battle, and the Marine Drakon took his place as leader of The Absent, doing what little they could in the war. Drakon earned an honor brother among the World Eaters, and he wields his honor brother's chainaxe.
The Compliance War was over quickly, and in the aftermath Drakon was elected Captain of the 3rd Company, 'The Absent'.
They returned to what they jokingly call their duty - to oversee the reconstruction of a world burned down by the Word Bearers. It was here that the 3rd met Kor Phaeron's fleet. The exchange among the two captains was brief, Kor-Phaeron thinking the 3rd a pathetic and pitiful force both numerically and tactically, and Drakon looking down on their wanton zealotry.
It was during the short time the 3rd and the Word Bearers spent together that Chaos began to seep in into The Absent via the Chaplains of the Word Bearers.
Shortly after their chores in the ravaged world, the 3rd was recalled - to rejoin the VIII Legion. They were to rendezvous with their Primarch - and the fleet of Rogal Dorn.
They only arrived to find that Night Haunter had fired on Dorn's ship, and escaped into the warp, the strike cruiser of the 3rd, the Pwnager, followed frantically to join their master.
After much time had passed the Legion was finally made whole again. Zso Sahaal did not approve of Captain Drakon, who was unorthodoxly made Captain of the 3rd. The two went on to ignore each other for the rest of their long lives.
The 3rd's first mission with their Legion - The Istvan Massacre. They served well, but not in a very distinguished manner. It was here that their translation to Chaos became complete. The Night Lords 3rd Company 'The Absent' is the only Company of Night Lords to worship Chaos rather than use it for their ends.
Soon after the 3rd was sent into more stupid duties and chores, attacking the very supply ships that they have protected, and attacking Imperial outposts. They were never present on Terra or on any major battlefield.
After Horus' defeat, the 3rd went their own way, attacking Imperial holdings and serving as mercenaries, fighting, raiding, looting....
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The 3rd uses the advantage of Chaos Undivided to the fullest, using many cult warriors in their ranks. The 3rd does not favor vehicles and does not use them in battle, relying more on Raptors armed with Lighting Claws and the daemons that fight alongside them.
The 3rd has served in all of Abaddon's Black Crusade's, in addition to their own exploits.

Re: Chaos Chapters
My warband the Darkhands should be added. They are a warband of about 12,000 chaos space marines from assorted traitor legions and loyalist chapters. They are those thought to be lost they are betrayers they are the disciples of the destruction of the Emperor himself. Thier main objective is to unite chaos under one banner and re-assualt Terra turning it into a ritual planet to materialise one of the chaos gods.. They have a distaste for abbadon but will accept any true enemy of the emperor. They have been known to have a strong hate for Imperial Fists.
Tributary bands and chapters of the warband include:worldeaters,emperors children,red corsairs,word bearers,iron warriors,raven guard,white scars,soul drinkers,alpha legion,thousand sons,avenging sons,lamenters and blood angels along with many more.
thier color is a deep dark red(burghundy) on thier left shoulder pad is a clawed hand laying atop an eight point star on a bone white shoulder pad. on the right is the insignia of thier origional chapter or legion.
thier leader is devoe jusaka a past chaplain who was abbandoned by his brothers. he wields a plasma pistol which shoots hellfire along with it he wields a crozius he has modified to be the shape of a hand wich rends armor. his armor is ancient and worn and his skull helm is black and burghundy. He was origionaly a Nova Marine Chaplain and the seeds of heresey were sewn in him during the quelling of the rebellion of the Mantis Wariors. He has aquired many gifts, seen on the battlefield on numerous occasions sporting black burghundy veined daemon wings.

Re: Chaos Chapters
I suppose I should add in my guys, the Void Legion.
Pic of their scheme here
Fluff Stuff
Leader: Naron the Deathless
Homeworld: Raktos 7
Battle cry: None, fight in almost complete silence
Specialty: Close range firefights and mechanized attacks
Still working on other fluff things, so those won't be posted at the moment.
The day will not save them. And we own the night.
Arch: If hope were short buses we could drive straight to the special olympics.
Power Corrupts. Absolute power is kinda neat.
