Re: Tau Names
Imperial designation, they just relate them to something useful, in this case fish, maybe because they see the Tau as less evolved beings...

Re: Tau Names
Tau personal names are easy, they're done by puttin the Taus Rank, caste, birthplace and main personal attribute together. For example...
Shas'O Vior'la Shovah Kais Mont'yr (Commander Farsight) would be broken down as follows:
Shas - The individual is a member of the Fire Caste
O - Who is a high-ranking Commander and hero
Vior'la - Who comes from the Sept of Vior'la
And has a personal name translated as being far-sighted (Shovah), Skilled (Kais), and having seen many battles (Mont'yr, meaning "blooded").
Straight from Lexicanum btw ^^

Re: Tau Names
Most vehicles and the like from all races are given Imperial Designations.
So yeah, the reason they have fish like names is due to the fact the imperials think the tau fish like, and that their vehicles are fish like.
