Looks cool, and a bit "third person shooter" to boot.
Doomed.

I pray for Eldar (Maybe DE too), and Tau (Gue'vesa/Tau/Kroot) to round out the roster of playable.
I still think Crons, and Nids should not be playable... Sorry.
Looks good so far I must say, I kinda lke the semi-cartoony style they are using.

i don't think Crons or nids should have their own playable factions/whatever either.Originally Posted by Leonix

Re: Warhammer 40,000 Dark Millenium Online
I'm just going to say it now; Orks vs Space Marines vs Chaos Space Marines would be pretty boring. We'd have Tank A with a lower armor rating, more HP, and the highest and lowest potential damage dealing against Tank B with good HP great armor and variety of good weapons against Tank C with good hp great armor with various stats bumps and dumps.

Re: Warhammer 40,000 Dark Millenium Online
They have titans.
I am quite interested in this. Plus integrated flying as opposed to adding it later means a much better world, since you have to plan for views that groundlings just simply won't see.
I didn't see much in the way of Guard, but what there was looked like Inquisitorial stuff - Which, if you're going to try to balance a Marine and a Guardsman as player characters, that's the way to do it.
Pun always intended.

Re: Warhammer 40,000 Dark Millenium Online
Bleh... *Various levels of indecision*
The Old Republic looks better to me, I mean the main points about it sound amazing:
-Star Wars
-Bioware
-Has a storyline
-Morality system in an mmo
-Fully voiced
If this game is anything like Dawn of War, I won't be playing.

i wonder how this will work?. would definitely go guard. i just wonder if you have some sort of character customization.
from what i see, i think you get put into organized battles. not any free roaming stuff.

Re: Warhammer 40,000 Dark Millenium Online
I'm not sure on this games RPG credentials atm. from the trailer it looks a bit more like a mmofps/tps. Not that thats bad, i think it would be really cool if they did it like that.Originally Posted by Deception

Re: Warhammer 40,000 Dark Millenium Online
First off, I will express myself in the best way possible.

And now in a more civilised, in depth manner.....
I've seen this trailer before and I have to say I'm fairly impressed.
But I do have my qualms about this.
Firstly, the sound of the weapons. Anyone else hear how the Bolter sounded? It was like a silenced automatic pistol.....I hope they change that at the release and make it more like DoW 2 (BRAKKA-BRAK-BRAK!!!), or I will introduce the lead designers testicles to a very large hammer.
The cartoony thing too. I was hoping for a less cartoony look, but I suppose if they lower the quality and standards, the wider available audience there is. Not that I have much of a problem in the first place anyway.
And vehicles too. If that's going to be an implemented feature, is the Warhound (Marine go *crunch-squish*!) going to be an available choice? Or is it going to be more like a CPU-controlled battlefield hazard? More likely the latter, prolly......
And in reference to the 'Cron and 'Nids being a playable faction, that's a bad idea. They are too lacking of a personality and variety to be all that great for a playable faction, IMO. They would make great enemies though
But overall, an MMOFPS/TPS seems a like a great way to go. In my opinion, a typical point-click-kill-loot MMO would have been a big let down for me. If the PvP or combat deployments in general plays out like WoW's Wintergrasp PvP ground does, I'm dropping all my other MMO's to play it xD

Re: Warhammer 40,000 Dark Millenium Online
I really don't see myself playing Dark Millenium, as I am NOT a fan of the current 40k video games. I mean the voice acting for the IG in the first Dawn of War was like:
RREEEEEAAGGHHLLLLLLLUUUUGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!
And I'm like: What the fuck is this guy screaming about?
I just think beyond the cinematic trailers they really screwed up. So unless it comes out and makes itself MMO jesus, I will shake my head in shame when it comes out. Sorry if that's a bit harsh but all I'm saying is they'll have to do crazy good for me to even bother looking at it.
Well, to answer your question Mind, I will pull this from my previous post:
[spoiler:1npajxp4]Some more things I forgot about:Originally Posted by ShadowSplicer57

-Companions and crew you can pick up along the way
And here is what we all learned at E3 (taken from the official website):
There are starships in the Old Republic and everybody gets one. Smuggler ships, Trooper ships, Imperial Agent ships, Bounty Hunter ships, Jedi ships and Sith ships. They're all in The Old Republic and they're all awesome. Ships represent freedom and a place to call your own. They're your base of operations and a handy retreat. A place to relax and talk to your Companion Characters, socialize with other players or to plan your next adventure.
So from all that, I gather that Old Republic will simply be the better game. And its not that Dark Millenium will be bad, it's just when you get someone like Bioware on the job, it's going to kick some serious ass. I hope Old Republic can somehow topple the mmo giant, afterall, empires always fall.[/spoiler:1npajxp4]

To be fair we have only had a very brief look at the 40k mmo where as the old republic is much farther a long development wise, so who knows what the future holds.

I'm torn between this and Guild Wars 2 now...

much by what life brings to us as by the attitude
we bring to life; not so much by what happens to
us as by our reaction to what happens.
