Very nicely done show. I enjoyed it. Except for the comic books part... my eyes kinda glazed over.
You guys have good radio chemistry, in the platonic way (or maybe not
)
Keep them coming. I'd like this to become a staple of 40kforums!
Dr. Manfredel is wrong. That kind of thinking is never justified.

Re: Cynical Optimism: A 40k-Forum Broadcast
Oooh, I've got Arch in my left speaker and LC in my right speaker.

Though LC sounds like he's talking to Arch from the room next door, he's a bit far away.
One minor criticism apart from the distant LC, is beware of speech mannerisms. I know it's hard, but the same words/phrases etc said too often can get really annoying to listeners.
This week I am good-naturedly shaking my fist at: Baragash. For being unreasonably reasonable.
Sex, drugs and pointy ears.
Cheaphammer 40p: 2000 points of Marines as cheap as possible.
It'll be alright on the Knight - a slow refreshing of my original Grey Knight army.
Cordova: In my head you're eight foot tall, always carry an officer's sabre, and speak like Theoden at the battle of Pelennor Fields.
Grey Knights don't go to heaven: they go to hell and regroup.

Well I'm actually talking to Arch from the next country over so next room is pretty good.Originally Posted by edmundblack
Actually it's because we're talking via skype and Arch's microphone is picking up my voice through his speakers. It's not a perfect system and we're definitely looking to improve on it.
I'm very aware of my mannerisms and upon listening back to it I noticed it very much. I'll be trying to correct it.
Thanks for the kind words, and for the criticism everyone.

Re: Cynical Optimism: A 40k-Forum Broadcast
Yeah i noticed this too. "Stirring" was said 4 times in 2 minutes, IIRC. It's not a big deal, but working on using other appropriate words will increase the quality of the show.Originally Posted by edmundblack

=D>
Really enjoyed it. Tbh not any complaints here - read comments during the day at work and listened just now. Expected LC's "in the next room" voice to be really low, but tbh, if it hadn't been commented on, I wouldn't have noticed. Obviously it can be improved, but sure you guys will work on that anyway.
I know it's an audio thing, but listening to the reviews of the new releases - I hadn't seen all the new releases, so found to load up the GW site and take a look at the minis while you were talking about them was a huge bonus - ie. talking about the staff of a model with the picture in front of me.
What I'm saying is, possible to include some images of the things talked about in the broadcast for quick reference in the topic? Think it'd add another aspect to what is otherwise an awesome job so far. Honestly, awesome.
It'll be about boring stuff, but you can Follow me on Twitter, or Stalk me on Google+

Re: Cynical Optimism: A 40k-Forum Broadcast
Thanks for doing that all LC. And thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions.
Keeping images with it all was something we had talked about, but we were unsure how we wanted to approach it. I could make it into a movie link with still frames for set periods of time...but that will greatly increase the DL size.

Make it 10 mins and upload to Youtube?

Re: Cynical Optimism: A 40k-Forum Broadcast
Think about it...do you want to limit yourself to only 10 minutes of my voice?
We debated other options...we don't want the show cut up if we can help it. It's about flow...so we'll see what we can do.

Re: Cynical Optimism: A 40k-Forum Broadcast
Very good guys! I was interested the whole way through.
Loved the segment on comic books, I was never a comic book fan growing up, never read a comic book in my life, but am a huge fan of comic book adapted films, so hearing your guys views on all things comic book films, as comic book fans your selves, was great!

Re: Cynical Optimism: A 40k-Forum Broadcast
Arch's "next room" voice threw me off for a while, but this is awesome! Keep it up! Any chance of guest speakers later, and what kind of equipment would you need?
I didn't really like the new Horrors at first, but they are endearing themselves to me. The way they are supposed to be best described as is by their name, Pink Horror. Their only defining characteristics is that they are pink and something to abhor with lots of constantly flailing and changing appendages.
I'm not so sure about Fateweaver's stance, but the model looks cool.
I'm probably going to skip on pre-ordering this time because I need monies for tuition, but I'll be getting some of everything Tzeentch and a new Daemon Prince later when they come out.
GW does not hate non-Space Marine armies. They just don't give a FAQ.
This song is totally the Battle of Prospero:

Yahtzee: "It's like owning a giant swiss-army knife with 500 different little blades and one folds out into a mini-gun. There is no reason to use anything else."

do a bit on "codex creep". (no, not the smelly guy at the GW who is always looking at you over the pages of a WH codex.)
Purging literary corectness since 1982.
