Minecraft
Minecraft is a game made of blocks. It takes place in a randomly generated world. This game is frickin amazing. I never thought exploring a blocky world would be so fun and addicting, but it is. I had originally torrented it to see what it was like, and shortly after I bought the game. It's currently only in it's alpha pahse, but if you buy it now you get free updates for life. There is no DRM. The entire game is made by one guy.

A good youtube series to get a feel for the game:

Does seem quite cool, a bit like lego but you're actually "there" as if you were a lego person!

So what's everyone's favorite skin? Mine are the tf2 demoman w/afro and the headcrab zombie.
Also, Me and my friend are creating a hotel/theme park. Something really weird happened on the server though. On the third or fourth session of work on the theme park, we had a new spawn point. when we had teleported back to our workspace, we found a giant mountain occupying our old spawn. It was really weird. So far on the hotel/theme park we have the first floor w/rooms, and an upstairs w/bigger rooms. Then on top of it we have a pool, a lava hot tub, and a waterslide. We wanted to make a rollercoaster, but currently mine carts crash multiplayer games. I'll try to post some pics of our work in a little bit.
So what are your creations?

The skin I am using at the moment is of a dwarf/viking looking guy.
I like to keep it "real" as in building things that are as normal as possible for the sort of environment we are in, castles etc.

This is our lava floored hot tub, made from diamond and glass. The first few times we made it out of wood and it caught on fire, despite the lava being contained by glass. The tower in the back is the launching platform for our rollercoaster.

This is our pool and waterslide. The water doesn't push you very fast, but if you move while in the water you can get some good speed.

Just something I felt like adding to the complex. The sign reads: "Garden of Lulz"

This is a statue I made commemorating the Great TNT War of 2010. Basically me and my friend realized we could spawn endless amounts of TNT and we went on a rampage blowing up lots of the world.

A picture of our underwater bridge. We also made a giant lava beacon/lighthouse on top of the complex.

And lastly, the damned mountain that randomly created itself and moved our spawn point. I want to make something out of it. any suggestions? Maybe a HUGE statue?

Well i watched through the entire youtube series and i'm very sad to hear it's probably finished but i figured it looked like such an awesome game for onlt £8.45 i'd buy it happily. May have forgotten to check it would actually run on my mac beforehand but luckily it does. I plan on building a mighty Batcave of Solitude.

I've seen the name Minecraft thrown around a lot the last few weeks, but didn't bother to actually research and try it out before this post:
And I was like :-/ hmmm, if TIP finds it so amazing I better give it a try then.Originally Posted by Tipster

It's so frustrating seeing all this potential for the game, and the development moving at such a slow pace. The good part is Notch (the creator) is hiring more people and starting a company with the millions of dollars he's made off this game. I can only imagine how many hours I'll sink into this once it gets a proper release.

Lol, I was just about to post that. Has anyone made some cool things in their games. Me and my friends have added a spleef stadium, a sky bridge, and forest, and a pedobear to our server. I'll get some pics up eventually.

Well, with Ritha and a few friends we've been making a massive sky castle.
Anyone who wants to play on our server is welcome, we also have a vent channel. Ask me on chat if you want details (ritha will get pissed if I hand out his vent to everybody, and the server needs hamachi, so I've got to watch out for ze l33t hackers).

Oh man, Minecraft. Been playing this for a while now. I'd have posted in this thread a while ago, but I haven't really been on the forums in a couple months.
Suffice it to say, it's one of the most inexplicably addicting games I've ever played. I spent weeks building an elaborate castle stretching up above the clouds with a meticulously measured mine beneath. Just as I was starting to lose interest in it I thought "ooooh, I wonder if I could do something like this entirely underground." And thus, after deleting the previous land, I spent a month underground completly oblivious to the sun as I carved out a network of furnaces, tree farms, crop fields, storage chambers, vaults, throne rooms, and grand halls. I just started getting tired of that, so I'll have to come up with something else now I guess.
Oh, and if you ever start getting a little tired of it, try creating some elaborate self propelled minecart tracks and tram systems. It takes forever, but damn if it isn't fun.
Also, I wouldn't mind getting in on that server. I've been looking for a good minecraft group to join. Never occured to me there might already be one here.
