    Myst

When I was a child, I remember watching my dad play through the Myst series. I thought it was cool that he could figure out all those strange puzzles. I always wanted to go through them myself. Finally it occured to me that I actually have the mental capacity now to attempt them. So when I went home last weekend I plundered my dads copies of Myst, Riven, and Exile (couldn't find Revelation or End of Ages, but it will be a while till I get to those). Started going through Myst and have been loving it. The puzzles, the worlds, the pure atmosphere, it's all fantastic. I can really see why the series was so popular.

So anywho, just seeing who else here has gone through the games and what you thought of them. (Obviously try to avoid actually talking about the Ages themselves, I haven't gotten that far yet.)

Ah, Myst, one of the reasons I got my hands on a Win 98 machine.

I want to play them as well, makes me glad it's almost exam time. Then I will have lots of time for games, so many to catch up on.

You also have to wonder why they don't make them as they used to. They gave you such wonderful environments to explore, and the characters in them.

I sound like an old fart now, don't I?

You don't need a Win 98 machine to play Myst. My dad has one of the original copies, not any sort of remake, and it runs fine on my XP system. You don't have to download anything extra. It literally takes an extra two minutes to get it to work.

Got the first three, great games. Haven't completed the third one yet.

Riven (the second one) was so f***ing hard!

Y'know you can pick up Myst and it's sequels etc from Steam?
They're like £3.99 each, just checked.

No, you can get RealMyst, which is a slightly different version of Myst (You actually move around instead of clicking) and you can get Riven. Steam doesn't have Exile, Revelations, or End of Ages. Oh, and I think it has some version of Uru too.

I remember long nights of racking my brains on myst and riven; also the 7th guest and the 11th hour...gah, that seems like such a long time ago now.

What's more worrying in my mind, is that I have the entire series of Myst, the two above titles, and for a laugh and it being Douglas Adams, Starship Titanic.

John Cleese as the voice of a bomb is downright hilarious.
