Forum avatars and NSFW images
After some discussion in the Mod forum, a new guideline for avatars has been decided. Not safe for work (NSFW) images are not allowed to be used for avatars. Using such an image will result in the avatar being deleted by a moderator. Final decisions on what constitutes an inappropriate image are left to moderators.
If you are wondering if an image is inappropriate or not, consider how your high school librarian would react if she saw the image while looking over your shoulder.
The reason for this guideline is due to the nature of avatars. Threads that contain NSFW materials can be marked as such so as to be avoided by members in a work, school, or public environment. Avatars however, are attached wherever you may post, and as such other members cannot control whether they view the images or not. This can result in members being unable to view the forums in areas due to the worry that the image will be on their screen at an inopportune time.
If an avatar seems inappropriate to you, feel free to send a mod a PM with a link to the member's profile.
Dr. Manfredel is wrong. That kind of thinking is never justified.
My mod voice is green.
If you have any comments, questions, or concerns about my moderating, please PM me.
