    Chaos Daemons 1500pts List

    Hello All

I used to play Warhammer and 40K, upto about 15yrs ago. Then life and work got in the way, but Ive always followed the hobby by buying White Dwarf 90% of the time

Im finding that Id like to start playing again and a Chaos Daemons army is calling me

I have the Codex and from it have come up with the following 1500pt list

I just wondered if anyone has any suggestions about my list

    HQ
    Keeper of Secrets
    + Daemonic Gaze
    + Sopophoric Musk
    + Transfixing Gaze
    = 245pts

    ELITES
    6 x Feinds of Slannessh
    + 1 x Unholy Might
    = 190 pts

    TROOPS
    12 x Pink Horrors
    + 1 x Bolt of Tzeentch
    + 1 x Changling
    = 219 pts

    TROOPS
    13 x Demonettes
    + 1 x Transfixing Gaze
    = 187 pts

    TROOPS
    10 x Bloodletters
    = 160 pts

FAST ATTACK (More like 'Tank Killers')
    5 x Screamers of Tzeench
    + 1 x Unholy Might
    = 85 pts

FAST ATTACK (More like 'Tank Killers')
    5 x Screamers of Tzeench
    + 1 x Unholy Might
    = 85 pts

    HEAVY SUPPORT
    Soul Grinder
    = 135 pts

    HEAVY SUPPORT
    Daemon Prince
    + Mark of Tzeench
    + Iron Hide
    + Demonic Gaze
    + Boon of Mutation
    = 185 pts

Any comments are more than welcome

    Screamers are ass, drop them.

A single Soulgrinder is ass, drop it or swap the Prince for a second one. I however, prefer Princes over Soulgrinders.

Daemonettes are about perfect, but you need more Bloodletters otherwise they'll get shot to pieces before they do anything. Flipside with Horrors, split them into 2 units of 6, also enabling double the Bolt of Tzeentch.

    Necrons
    Dark Eldar
    Death Guard
    Nurgle Daemons
    Traitor Guard

I would get rid of your elites slan units and switch them for flamers, much better. As Pyro said I have a firm belief you should take 3 SG's or none. They work awesome in quanity especially if you put all 3 in the same wave, however one at a time they just get eaten alive because they are ultimately the only vehicle to target for your enemy. I don't like demonettes, I prefer bloodletters. Horrors he is absolutely correct on. It is not uncommon for me to have all 6 troop picks used in a 1500 point army because of of min-max horror squads. Screamers are the absolute worst unit in the game. I am not a big fan of the KoS or any GD for an HQ pick accept maybe the BT. I like playing a cheap HQ like the Masque that can offer some synergy to your template wepons or be used to move stuff out of cover for the BL charge or a hearld the does something minor but worthwhile. Good luck.

    Hi Chaps

Thanks for the comments, Ill definately take them on board

Im definately thinking now of dropping the SG in favour of another DP
    And splitting the horrors

I might change the Feinds to flamers as well

And it interseting that you say screamers are crap, they seem like a good anti-tank choice on paper, maybe ill drop the screamers and use the point for more BL's

I better put an order in with GW then and get started, I havnt painted a miniature for 15yrs, I bet my hands are well shakey!!!!

    Tanks again

Screamers look like they'd be great at anti-tank, and when the codex first came out, everyone flocked to them. As time settled (and 5th was released) everyone started to realise that even Melta Bombs need 6s to hit a moving vehicle, and with only 1 bomb each, the chance of getting a hit were somewhat slim. That was if they survived the onslaught of firepower the turn they arrived.

    Necrons
    Dark Eldar
    Death Guard
    Nurgle Daemons
    Traitor Guard

Soul Grinders don't perform well alone because on the battlefield you opponent sees it and is like, "Oh crap that thing's scary, KILL IT!!!" Then it's dead.
