    Forum-Suggested Starter Lists (Eldar)

Here are the lists that have been put forward. Feel free to discuss them.
    HQ

Farseer, Runes of Witnessing, Spirit Stones, Doom, Guide

    Total 130

    Troops

10 * Dire Avengers, Exarch, Power Weapon and Shimmershield, Defend Bladestorm, Waveserpent, Twin Linked Eldar Missile Launchers, Spirit Stones

    Total 307

    Troops

10 * Dire Avengers, Exarch, Power Weapon and Shimmershield, Defend Bladestorm, Waveserpent, Twin Linked Eldar Missile Launchers, Spirit Stones

    Total 307

    Grand Total 744

Rationale: HQ and 2 Troops meets FOC requirements. Farseer gives good supportive role to force. Waveserpents add long ranged punch to take out transports and heavy infantry with their Krak missile, taking on hordes with their Frag missiles. Dire Avengers are tooled for heavy shooting and light combat role, and if the timing is right they'll prevail easily without having to resort to fisticuffs.
    Eldar-
    HQ- Farseer- Doom- 80 Points

    Troops 1- 5x Pathfinders- 120 Points
Troops 2- 10x Dire Avengers, Exarch- Bladestorm, Shimmershield- 152 Points
w/Wave Serpent- TL- Eldar Missile Launcher, Spirit Stones- 130 Points

Elites- 6x Fire Dragons- 96 Points

Heavy Support- Falcon- Holofields, Eldar Missile Launcher, Spirit Stones- 170 Points

    Total- 748 Points

Pathfinders will stay back and sit on a hard to reach home objective. Wave Serpent (with the Farseer in it) and the Falcon will move up one flank together, and catch the side armor of any rhino's, killing enemy mobility first. The Fire Dragons can deal with any tank (plus they are a great investment for the long run). Use them on a predator, battlewagon, or perhaps a squeezed landraider of cheese. The dire Avengers will get out and doom/bladestorm a unit that was blown out of it's rhino, then hopefully be able to climb back into their wave serpent before taking too much fire. Pathfinders are a great unit for terminators or just trying to pin something. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's annoying. Last turn, contest with whatever vehicle is still alive, and block off routes to your objective.

    Needed-
    Eldar Farseer- 15
    Dire Avenger Box- 30
    Fire Dragon Box- 30
    Falcon Kit- 42
    Wave Serpent Kit- 42
    Ranger Box- 30

    Total- 187 U.S. Dollars
    Eldar

    Farseer
    Doom
    80 Points

A cheap and cheerful HQ. He’s cheap because Eldar work best with expensive transports. Doom is probably the best psychic power since this list’s game is going to be a run and gun sort of list.

    10xDire Avengers
Exarch w/Power Weapon and Shimmershield and Defend, Waveserpent w/TL Eldar Missile Launcher
    270 Points

Generally a shooty unit, but the exarch with his gear is pretty damn funny in combat if you somehow end up in it.

    12xGuardians
Shuriken Cannon, Waveserpent w/TL Eldar Missile Launcher
    221 Points

Basically a cheaper unit that also dishes out a far number of shots.

    3xEldar Warwalkers
    2xScatter Lasers each
    180 Points

Heavy duty firepower. The armor is pretty weak though, so outflank to avoid getting shot and teach your opponent the meaning of 24 S6 shots.

So the idea is to run around in your transports shooting at things and only getting out when you know you can sufficiently kill the unit with shooting or reduce them to no longer being a threat in combat.

    Kits to buy:
    -2xEldar Battleforces(90 USD each)
    -Eldar War Walker(30 USD)
    -Farseer w/Witchblade blister(15 USD)
    Total Cost: 225 USD

Oi why didn't I think to get involved in this, Smurfy recommends list one but RoWard over RoWit

By this I mean, once, twice, or at the very most, three times, fate will reach out and tap a man on the shoulder… if he has the imagination, he will turn around and fate will point out to him what fork in the road he should take, if he has the guts, he will take it.” - General George S. List one also gets my choice. However, I can't help but think that it would be better if the farseer dropped guide and ss. Cut most upgrades on the dire avengers like defend, pw/ss maybe even remove the exarch altogether and add a fire prism or something.

I'm with list 1, though I'd definately trim the Dire Avengers:

Dire Avengers (10) - Exarch w/ Dual Catapults, Bladestorm - 151 points (if memory serves me right).

Possibly do as Tone suggests with the Farseer, and see what that can slot you in. A small squad of jetbikes (incoporating a Shruiken Cannon) wouldn't be a bad idea.

I'll put forward my list from the forum meet.

    farseer-doom, guide, spirit stones

    9 avengers-exarch pw/ss, defend, bladestorm.
    serpent-tl missile launcher

    3 jetbikes-shuriken cannon

    falcon-shuriken cannon

    5 fire dragons

    fire prism.

Works on the principle of "thats obscene you cant have that much in 750pts"

    Your tanks do the work.
The avengers pop out and bladestorm occasionally. the jetbikes do nothing at all until the final turn when they turbo boost onto an objective.

This isn't necessarily an either/or thing. If both lists were optimized we could put them both up. Or if you guys completely prefer list 1, that can be it. Doesn't matter to me. All aboutwhat you guys want.

List #1 is a bit too dependant on the serpent for anti-tank. Would perhaps like to see the second avengers being dropped down to 6 models and mounting them in a falcon not a serpent.

list #2 has those pathfinders which to me are just screaming out of place!

I submitted list two, so all I can say to the Pathfinders is that I find they are a great distraction, plus I run an Alaitoc army, and so fit the theme I normally play. Many people immediatly discount foot Eldar lists, but Alaitoc can have really strong Warp Spider and Pathfinder based lists. They many not be the most competative, but honestly, they're just starting lists. I find that everyone these days is just so quick to scream mechdar and discount everything else.

As for list one- I would recommend turning those Wit into Warding as well, and trimming those Dire Avengers. They are awfully expensive!

    W/L/D (1v1/)
    Eldar- 22/2/2
    Necrons- 4/2/0
