Venoms+Trueborn for ranged support?
So, I was reading over the codex to make a new army list and thought about trying out a odd idea..
What If you took a unit or two of 3 Trueborn with 2 Splinter cannons, in a Venom with 2 Splinter cannons (Just realized that Venoms already have a splinter cannon built in.. Lol) 24 R36 shots. Seems like some cheap, very mobile firepower. Seems ideal for killing hoards.
Any thoughts?

I'd always argue to put the Duke into the biggest unit you can, for best benefit, before having him decide he wants to be with the laydees and bugger off to a Wych unit. Using him for 2 Splinter Cannons, when you could start him with 20 Warriors with 2 Splinter Cannons gets huge benefit
Still, Looking at the overall points without Duke, it's one hell of a shooty unit you don't lose much from if it dies. All around win.
Doomed.

I'd rather just achieve this by spreading the Cannons out. The DE book is awesome at making every combination of foot + transport handle any situation.
For example, Wyches in a Raider can blow a transport and then assault the contents.
Warriors with Blasters can pop a tank while their Venom hails splinter fire.
It can really help with priority vs most any list. Want to cripple my Anti-Infantry? In a 1+1 theme there isn't really any great unit to choose over another as pretty much anything I bring handles infantry except for Ravagers, and even then they're not terrible vs elite infantry. Now a few Splinter Cannons inside a Venom? Hordes love shooting there first.
Listen up! What we need is this! Yes, calcium! If we have enough calcium, we can do anything! Trouble with tests? Fighting with your parents? Some girl you like? Odiferous nethers? If you have enough calcium, all of these can be solved!

Just for the record: if you move the Venoms, the Splinter Cannons carried by the Trueborns only fire 4 shots because they count as moved.

This 1000 times this. I rather have duality in each squad. or if its tank heavy he will just take out your dedicated units and your left with poison weapons vs tanks or vice versa. Duality, repetition and optimization.
IMHO The best set up is 3 true born with blasters in a Venom with 2 splinter cannons. Mathematically 2 is kinda cutting it close and with DE being so surgical you want to make sure you eliminate our threat. also it leaves no wasted 12 point true born sitting around doing nothing, since the venom is moving he will only have a 12 inch range you dont want to be that close. 4 is overkill and starts getting too expensive.
