Turn one you get a free pivot, with raiders being so long. this gives your hull 2 and a half inches over the deployment line making you closer for free.
I am new to 40k and I cannot find the section in the rule book that says you can do this.

It's a silly trick that doesn't help much in the long run anyway:
    Deploy:
    Code:
    --------- (Deployment Line)
    <[][][]> (Raider)
1st Turn Before moving, you pivot like so:
    Code:
           ^
           []
      -----[]-----
           v
    then move...

Best I can do with rudimentary graficks

When moving, you can pivot at any time, so you pivot then move. That way your end is over the deployment line like he described and gain your few inches. You move the vehicle and don't pivot again during the move. Simple?

Okay I get it. It seemed a little odd that vehicles could just pivot, especially tanks.

pg 57, "vehicles turn by pivoting on the spot about their center-point, rather than 'wheeling' round.

It's in fact realistic for tanks with tracks, as they are able to turn on the spot. For wheeled vehicles it's another case, but I understand, that it's ignored for the sake of simplicity.

Same AV on all sides? I can assault out of it too?

In this case, I believe that does mean I should.

Besides, vehicles parked long ways provide better cover for when you get the initiative stolen away. As long as nobody is power sliding their transports it's not a big deal.

Listen up! What we need is this! Yes, calcium! If we have enough calcium, we can do anything! Trouble with tests? Fighting with your parents? Some girl you like? Odiferous nethers? If you have enough calcium, all of these can be solved!

And getting the rotation to grab that extra inch or two isn't against the spirit of the game at all? I may have a hard time against Pyro's DEldar, but at least his stuff is pointy end first unless there's no other room.

Let me reiterate that this article was made when DE first came out. Most of it is still relevant but i could and should definitily touch it up.

As for the pivot and whether you should or shouldn't i refer you to the fact that this tactica is written for the "cut throat hardcore I want to win every game i play" player. If your having a friendly skirmish with a buddy and you decide not to take advantage of every little edge in the wording of the rules. go for it that's up to you. Personally even in friendly games I go by the rule book and don't hold myself back. My friends and i find it less fun if we know one of us is not using the rules to the highest capacity to win the game. personal preference i guess.

Sry about my spelling i have absolutely no typing skills
