CJB does ........ Inquisition
...........Inquisitor Coteaz !
You see i was not bluffing when I said i wanted an Inquisition force and here is my nearly complete Inquisitor Coteaz. Need to finish his Psyber Eagle and then apply some "anti-shine" varnish but he is 90% complete.
Not the best pics but hopefully you get the picture.
Just won on Ebay a Callidus Assassin, unpainted, for a snip at £5.70 incl P&P so hope to post more up as I go along. I am plannning to buy 1 maybe 2 units / characters and then paint them before buing any more - did too much buying with Tau and to a small extent Necrons, where I have loads of unpainted models sitting around.
I am the Inquisition until my wife says stop being silly and mow the lawn ! Inquisition : 2000pts Current Focus (see my log - just need to paint it)
THANK YOU GW...... Thank you for the great game that is 40k you have built over years of hard work (honestly, no sarcasm, I AM A GW FANBOY - KEEP IT UP!) =D>

Nicely done there CJB, quality work.
Paint his rim black though, yes? It'll look even better.
This week I am good-naturedly shaking my fist at: Baragash. For being unreasonably reasonable.
Sex, drugs and pointy ears.
Cheaphammer 40p: 2000 points of Marines as cheap as possible.
It'll be alright on the Knight - a slow refreshing of my original Grey Knight army.

Great work! I can only second the recommendation to use army painter matte varnish, it gives a great finish.

Slight hi-jack I know, but how does that stuff compare to GW's Purity Seal? I've found that Purity Seal can make metallics go cloudy at times, does the Army Painter one not do that?

Thanks all for your comments and from such pros as EB and BM (sorry Arlins, not seen your work), its much appreciated.
Coteaz is the first detailed Character model I have done for 10 years ! My Tau have a very distinct way of painting them and my Necrons also - so it was good fun (most fun i have had painting) to put both the Tau technique (neat careful painting) and the Necrons (bulk colour, lots of complimentary washes) together. Whats more, adding tonight to finish him, he took 4 sessions to build, prime and paint (thats about 6 hours for me) - and really pleased with the result.

So for best results would any models need a gloss varnish first, and then some shine remover? Or could they just be sprayed with the shine remover straight away?

Update :
Well, I have been buying lots of bits recently - loads of bolters, chain swords, marine scout heads and storm bolters (which are attached to terminator arms
) - ready for Acolytes - but they are a little way away at the moment.
Anyway here is Coteaz complete (all be it not sprayed with anti-sheen and base to do) - Psyber eagle finished.
Also I give you a Callidus Assassin :
Next purchase may be Coteaz personal Landraider Redeemer or possibly a Dreadknight - but we shall see. I will be buying some anti-sheen army painter spray soon as well .
Anyway this is the start of a log as my rule is i cant move on until I have painted a model

I look forward to seeing how the army turns out. I've always been tempted by a purely Inquisitional army, almost purely because of how diverse it would look on the battlefield.
Necrons
Dark Eldar
Death Guard
Nurgle Daemons
Traitor Guard

Same here. And then I look at my Grey Knights.

Looking good there CJB, how're you going to base them?

Thanks for the comments guys !
EB - not sure on the bases yet, I need to ponder that one me thinks
Well on a related note, the Mrs did not take too kindly to these models being the start of a 3rd army (the white lie of "I like the models and felt like painting them" did not last), so there are some relationship negotiations going on at the moment . She is also fully aware that the Necrons are rumoured to be coming August and has questioned me why i want another army when all the new Necron toys are coming out soon. Suffice to say this will hinder my progress - however - I am trying to sell a few things so that I can at least say that this army is cost neutral.
Ironically, the Mrs is behaving very much like the Inquisition and I feel a heretic !

Very small update - I have bought a Vindicare Assassin , so once I get hold of that I will look to paint him up - I think i need to go darker and not red like the Callidus! May actually mix up a dark grey for him.
Also, the Mrs has given consent to 3rd Army - so next real purchase will be Landraider Redeemer with FW Inquisition Doors !

You know it makes sense CJB.

For the Vindi, how about priming him black then dry brushing several layers of fortress grey and then skull white onto him and then apply a couple of layers of badab black onto him until he's highlighted but dark. Then pick out the details. Should work OK.
Alternatively, get one of these:

Uber rare Inquisitor scale one. Verrry nice.
But sort of big.
