Eldar Player Looking To Get Into 'nids
I have a 1750pt Eldar army and am looking to start a new army to change things up a bit. I really like the swarmy nature of the 'nids as well as their CC prowess; a big change from the mechanized, kinda shooty nature of the eldar.
So after scouring these forums for a bit over a week I've constructed a 1750pt list that I feel is ready for some constructive criticism before I go out and buy out the tyranid inventory at my local shop.
Tyranid Prime- bonesword/whip, regen -105
3x hive guard -150
3x zoanthrope - 180
6x warriors - boneswords - 240
7x stealers - scything talons -102
7x stealers - scything talons -102
25x Hormagaunt - 150
25x Termagaunt - 125
20x Gargoyle - 120
3x carnifex - 480
total:1754
The list looks really swarmy to me being about 100 models strong, the only thing I'm concerned with is the huge amount of points sunk into the carnifexes.

I don't see an awful lot wrong with that to be honest!
Carnifex's are a point sink but I like them myself. Run them where the enemy can't ignore them. They'll either take a ton of firepower then go down or they'll be let to rampage. Either way is good.
Nice amount of anti tank. Stealers may want to outflank.
Perhaps all I'd look at is the larget unit of termagents. They're a pure meatshield, so you could swap them out for Hormagaunts and probably still provide enough cover for any Warriors or Stealers running behind them. Gargoyles are fun and again, a good meatshield. They can be useful if not dealt with.

I would look at dropping about 5 termas and hormas and the scything talons off the stealers for more bodies. Not sure where all the points would come from, but I'd look at 8-10 stealers, 7 is close but it does get eaten up kinda quick and either 2 broods of 2 hiveguard and 2 zoanthropes or 2 broods of 2 zoanthropes and 2 hiveguard. Spread them out some but keep them in 2's minimum so you can still hammer stuff if you miss one but you can also shoot at more targets.

I'd recommend scythes' idea of 2 broods of 2 zoans and 1 brood hive guard. As it is, you're at a fair amount of risk of synapse starvation.

I run a similar list and it works really well! The only things I recommend changing are:
1. drop one of your Zoanthropes and put the remaining two in a mycetic spore.
2. Swap the 3 Carnifexs for 2 Trygon Primes.
You are going to save money, and save some points. Sure you won't get them on your first turn, but once they land, your enemy will seriously be pissing their pants. I use one trygon prime because I play 1250 pointers and they work wonders. More than any carnifex's will ever do. Land, shoot 12 shots, next turn, shoot 12 more, then go into assault (6 attacks) to finish them off. It is the strongest non-tank monster in the game and super lethal. Plus, Trygon Primes have synapse, so you can boost your synapse range in the mid-late game.

i agree there is plenty of anti tank and yes from much experence the gaunts are just a meat sheild. fexs are very costly but the payout is huge. altho the tyranid prime would not be my first choice for an HQ i would go for the parasite of mortrex and if you buy all the units new you'll have plenty of rippers for it

I love your list , there not much to change. But here my recommendation ,
-Drop the Talon on genestealer and put toxic sac instead.
-Personaly i hate flying socket , and that my main reason why i hate gargoyle. Personnaly i would cut those 20 gargoyle and put a tervigon as troop instead. You losing some swarm but the tervigon give feel no pain , + can spawn a lot of termagant. And if you are lucky you can get 70 termangant ina game .. and if you are unlucky.... 3
-Those warrior , i m not a big fan of close combat warrior, specially if they are lead by a prime. I think deadspitter is better for them. That would be 18shot at str 5 , bs 4.
-And a death spitter to the prime. 21 shot instead of 18
Like i says its my opinion.
