    termagant spike rifle

Let's assume that the Spike Rifle biomorph was a free exchange instead of 1 point. Is the S1 decrease in power worth the 6" increase in range? I'm pretty sure it isn't worth the point.

Glad I'm not the only one looking at that upgrade going... really?

I don't think it's an upgrade at all. The 18" might be nice for the 60 point gaunt unit that's just sitting on your control point for the entire game. But even then. I'd rather save the 10 points, make it a 50 point unit, and spend my 10 points on something else.

Besides, the fleshborer ain't so bad.

He does not care from where the blood flows... only that it does.

Except for the Fleshbore and the devourer, none of the others termagant guns are worth it IMHO
devourers are a rough deal since they double the cost of the gaunt, but well worth it when you put those gaunts to use since you're getting extended range and triple the fire power
-Strangleweb is nice in theory since it gives you a special model to allocate wounds as well as damaging vs unmodified Strength, but it fall on it's face for cost and the pathetic S2 (meaning you're rolling minimum 5+ to hurt anything, but usually 6+ since most of my opponnets are Marines). it might be better if they at least did two of the following : S4, 5pts, or 1 per 5 models in the brood
-Spinefists and Stinger rifles as mentioned would be viable if they were free trade rather than costing a point, but only just because S3 is really harsh for a gun; IG can pull it off because they can spam so many plus theirs are rapidfire and have orders to get extra shots (not to mention range)

I said it when the nids were re-released it was nice for a load of the old 2nd ed stuff to make a return but with the strangle webs and spike rifles they shouldn't have even bothered if that was all they were going to do. Heck all they need to do was make the a web a str 3 flamer and the spike rifle have a better AP value like they do in 2nd ed and then they would have been worth taking but as they are now eh another missed opportunity.

With Sprite here 100% the other weapon options are a waste of ink. I read them several time to see of I'd missed something good about them but alas, Theyre crap.

I like the increased range in the spike rifle, I might run a couple games with those vs marines and see how well they fly. The 24" bolter range just reams my gants

I know it's sort of a necro, but if you want range, go with Devourers. S3 vs marines is worthless unless it can penetrate the Marine's 3+ armor. Even then I'd probably take the Fleshborer.

When taking on Marines, medium power shots in high quantities can be extremely dangerous. The more wounds you make, the more failed armor saves your opponent will make, and every casualty a Marine player takes will affect the performance of the unit considerably.

As mentioned below, Devourer and Fleshborer are the only worthwhile guns. If range is an issue, go with the Devourer. Yes, it makes Termagaunts a lot more expensive, but trust me. When you drop 60 S4 shots at your opponent's tactical squad you will not regret it.

I would not swap any of my termagants fleshbourers for any weapons as the:
Devourer makes your termgants double the cost and it only works if you can get your squads close enough to the enemy.( if you have mounstrous creatures this would be fine as the enemy would shoot at them).
Spike rifles are useless, longer range, weaker and no ap means that orks can save off it.( Are orks even suppose to save???).
Spinefists weaker, no AP TL is good but yet again orks can still save off them.
Stragle web Which other army has a strength 2 weapon that has 8 inch range, if it was swapped with thorax swarm for an extra 5 points i may purchase it but weak strength no AP and pinning is good.

Also dont bother with givivng them adrenal glands or Toxin sacs only if you want to combat something with them.(Thats what hormagaunts are for).

the increased range does make up for the lower power but it iznt the best weapon as a standerd issue for all your gaunt forces its more or less a defence wepon if you want front line power their worthless if front line is wat u want your better off with the devouror

Personally spike rifle is virtualy invisible. If you want to go units/number heavy the stock fleshbore is cheaper. If you need alot of attacks devour is best. Devours are simply better To myself. 3 shots per model, and an 18" range. Plus it's S4. So your paying 5pts for +6" and 2 more bullets. As for the spike riffle your paying -S1 and 1 pt for +6" (stock is fleshbore S4 12").
