Battle 14
Domination
Black Legion List
Fabius Bile
5 sqauds of 10 CSM, 2 melta guns, Champion, Power Weapon, Plasma Pistol, Icon of Chaos Glory
2 Obliterators
Greater Demon
2 Dreadnoughts with lascannons
Chaos wins the roll off and sets up first. 2 squads in two ruins, another to the right, two behind the ruins with Fabius Bile. Two dreadnoughts in front of the ruins. Obliterators atop a tower between the occupied ruins.
Salamanders place 1 squad in ruins to his right, another close to some ruins on his side of the battlefield. Predator behind them, Redeemer inbetween the squads.
The fifty chaos space marines of Abaddon’s Black Legion line up as instructed outside the ruined tower. The moon cast long shadows across the broken ground, the only sound the whipping of their great black cloaks in a keen icy wind.. All stare ahead to the gaping hole in the side of the ruin, a pulsating green light visible inside. Two ancient dreadnoughts with huge claws and lascannons stand immobile either side of the entrance. The squad champions enter first to receive their gift.
The floor of the tower had been cleared for the ritual. A venerable but huge marine stands in the centre, a great medical apparatus on his back, knives and needles on mechanical arms arched forward over his head. Bubbling canisters of glowing red and green liquids sit behind his massive shoulders. His skin is like dried leather, tanned browner by the long white hair framing his stern face. He wears a great robe of enemy skin stitched together over his power armour. Wide eyed, the medic beckons the champions forward, his head tilted upwards in a superior manner. ‘Come my children, receive thy gift from the Primogenitor of the all powerful gods for the coming battle against the Salamander scum. We will prevail here and I will have my revenge for their lucky strike in the Arden System!’
The champions step towards Fabius Bile, the Chirurgeon on his back whirring to life as the arms snap forwards to administer cuts and needle pricks to the marines. The process is quickly finished and the champions leave to summon their squads into the chamber. Within half an hour the entire force is subjected to the former apothecary’s experimentations.
Fabius steps out of the ruined tower to give his men their final orders. The Black Legion marines stand in a large group near the dreadnoughts, Fabius can tell that the chemicals are taking effect. Some marines arch their backs in pain, most have bulging eyes with their pupils fully dilated, covering the iris. All their muscles knot and bulge, growing larger by the minute as the enhancement fluids course through their veins. Several marines start to froth at the mouth, beating great fists upon their chests. They let out great howls like wolves and leap at their brothers, tearing flesh and limb with unnatural strength. Over half of the marines turn on each other in a mad frenzy, losing control of their minds. Arterial spray from severed limbs and heads forms a red mist in the air to be scattered by the strong wind.
Fabius and the dreadnoughts stride into the melee knocking the most crazed marines senseless, killing those that are completely consumed by the madness. Black Legion marines who retained control of their minds help to subdue the madmen. The champions raise power weapons and shoot gouts of plasma into the air from their pistols. Order is restored and a great cheer of battle lust erupts from the squads as they charge past the tower, trampling the eight dead marines into a bloody pulp on their way to the battlefront…..
Turn 1
8 CSM in 3 squads die from fighting each other after Fabius’ enhancements. Night fighting in operation. Crash and Burn descends on the Salamander lines, killing 2 SM in squad A, 1 from B, destroying 2 lascannons on the predator and the ruin is a pile of stones. One of the dreads goes fire crazy, the other moves away to leave a CSM in cover as nearest target. The crazed dread opens fire on the CSM in the right hand ruin, killing 1. The other dread gets range on the predator but fails to penetrate. The obliterators fire at the redeemer but not enough range in the dark.
The redeemer advances to the CSM held ruins.Drop pod comes in near the dreads, squad C pops out and destroys a dread with a meltagun. The explosion kills a SM. A Krak missile from squad B destroys the other dread. Laserburn stratagem deviates harmlessly away.
Turn 2
The CSM in the left ruins advance towards the redeemer. Two squads behind ruins move up with Fabius Bile. A CSM meltagun wrecks the redeemer. 5 TH Terminators with Vulkan get out. The obliterators kills 2 terminators with plasma cannons, one deviates and kills a CSM. One plasma gets hot but obliterator unharmed. CSM on the right near the drop pod kill 3 salamanders with bolter and melta fire. CSM squad assaults Kantor and retinue , Kantor takes 2 wounds. The terminators kill 5 CSM but as fearless they pass armour saves and 2 CSM carry on fighting. CSM squad assaults drop pod salamanders, killing 4 including the sarge.
5 Terminators deep stike near drop pod, killing 3 CSM with an assault cannon. Predator fails to wound the obliterators. Kantor and terminators destroy CSM squad. CSM kill 1 SM in drop pod squad.
Turn 3
CSM squad fires everything at Kantor, killing him. Fabius fires needlet at terminators , killing 1. Obliterators fire at the deep striking terminators, killing all 5 with 2 plasma cannon blasts. CSM kill last drop pod salamander. Fabius and CSM assault remaining TH terminator and kill him.
Landspeeder comes in, kills 1 CSM. Frag missile kills another. Obliterators make cover save vs predator lascannon. The drop pod storm bolter kills 1 CSM.
Turn 4
CSM squads reoccupy the ruins. A squad goes for a third on the right. Champion in CSM squad that fought the drop pod squad becomes a greater demon. Advances towards squad B. Fabius Bile advances to squad B, Needler kills 1 SM. CSM meltas immobilise landspeeder and it can’t shoot next turn. Obliterator plasma cannons kill 4 SM in squad B.
The predator fires at the demon but it saves against it. Bolters from squad B wound the demon.
Turn 5
CSM meltas explode the landspeeder. CSM bolters kill another SM. Demon assaults remains of squad B, killing all 4 in the squad.
Black Legion win
A very good game, the obliterators were the big difference here.
Cheers Eryx

Dreadnoughts are a waste of space for Chaos lol. I defy averages with the amont of 1's i roll (3 out of 5 dice for enhancements, crazed dreadnought, lascannon failed penetration). Bugger power fists too!
What do you think of the fluff?

I wouldn't field Dreadnoughts. I'd like to see you field a Defiler instead.
Fluff pretty good. You should do it more often.

Ok... so tonight's mission is:
Urban Assault.
Deployment.
The table is divided into four quarters, formed by drawing two imaginary perpendicular lines through the centre of the table.
The players roll off and the winner chooses to go first or second. The player that goes first then chooses one of the long table edges to be his own table edge. He then deploys his force in one of the two table quarters on his side of the table, more than 12'' away from the centre of the table. His opponent then deploys in the diagonally opposite corner.
Deploy any infiltrators and make any scout moves.
Reserves.
Any units not initially deployed on the table must be placed in reserve.
First Turn.
The player that chose his deployment zone first starts the game.
Objective.
Both players must attempt to get non-vehicle units into the enemy's defended building/ruin. At the end of the game, the player occupying the building/ruin the enemy choose defend with no enemy units present, is the winner. Any other result is a draw.
Special Rules.
Each player may spend up to 3 points on stratagems (see Planetstrike). These can be either Attacker or Defender but not Stronghold objectives.
When setting up the table before the battle, there needs to be six ruins or buildings spaced evenly around the table. Starting with the first player, each player picks a ruin or building in their deployment zone to be the objective of their opponent.
After deployment but before the start of the game, roll 1D6. On the result of 5 or 6, Night Fighting rules are in effect for the first turn of the game.

After another weeks break due to the intervention of "real life" DonRemus and I met up last night for a game. He has the write up to post yet which hopefully he will do tonight.
This was a really good game despite how bad our dice rolls on both sides. I got to face Abaddon who I haven't seen played for a couple years, which was cool. I had forgotten just how much of a monster he is! But when DonRemus plonked down 60-odd CSM including a unit of berzerkers I was really nervous and doubting my chances of winning this game. But, the Emperor was with me, and I noticed quickly that I had a chance of seizing a draw as there was no way I was going to get a win. I managed to hold off everything he had, sacrificing some units to do it admittedly, but I am pleased with a draw result.
DonRemus: 14 wins, 1 loss.
Me: 1 win, 13 loss.
Draw: 1.

Battle 15
Urban Assault
My list
Abaddon
10 CSM 2 Meltagun Icon of Chaos Glory Champion Power Wpn Plasma Pistol
Above x4
4 Rhino, 1 with Combi Melta
10 Khorne Berserkers 2 plasma pistols Champion Power Wpn Plasma pistol
2 Obliterators
Setup
Salamander squads in 2 buildings, Redeemer and Predator between them.
Black Legion squad in objective building, 2 Rhinos either side filled with KB and 3 other squads. Abaddon walking behind. Obliterators atop the tower in the objective building.
Turn 1
Salamander drop pod appears in front of Chaos objective building. Tactical squad gets out. Salamander orbital strike deviates away from obliterators. Night fighting in force. Drop pod squad fires multi melta at KB rhino, destroying it’s combi melta. Plasma fire hits the same rhino, it can’t fire next turn.
Chaos crash and burn stratagem kills 2 SM in Salamander objective building and hits the Redeemer which can’t move or shoot next turn. KB and CSM squad get out of rhinos near the drop pod. Obliterators fire plasma cannons at drop pod Salamanders, killing 2. KB and CSM do not shoot the Salamanders fearing if any drop they will be out of assault range. They assault with Abaddon, killing 8 SM, the remains of the squad.
Turn 2
Landspeeder comes in with Terminators. The Terminators appear near the KB. The predator lascannons kill an obliterator with instant death. The landspeeder fires missiles at a rhino which cant’ move or shoot. The squad in the objective fires a krak missile at the same rhino, immobilising it. Terminators fire at KB, killing 2.
The unharmed rhino heads for Salamander lines. KB back in rhino, move towards landspeeder. CSM squad gets out of immobilised rhino and advances. Abaddon and a CSM squad head for the terminators. In assault Abaddon kills 1, CSM kill 2 but 2 CSM die at the hands of the terminators.
Turn 3
The predator lascannons kill the other obliterator. The landspeeder missiles kill 3 CSM. The Salamander squad in non objective ruins immobilise the KB rhino. Abaddon kills the last 2 terminators in close combat then moves towards Salamander lines with his consolidation move.
KB out of immobilised rhino and advance to the ruins. A meltagun from the CSM objective squad destroys the drop pod. CSM squad fighting the landspeeder hit it with bolters, it can’t shoot. Meltas from the healthy rhino destroy the turret on the predator. KB move towards Salamanders in ruins, Abaddon does the same.
Turn 4
Laserburn stratagem fails to have any affect. SM in ruins kill 4 KB with rapid fire. Redeemer assault cannon wrecks the healthy rhino.
CSM out of rhino. Melta fire penetrates the Redeemer, it loses a flamestorm cannon and can’t shoot.Plasma gun gets hot and kills a CSM champion. KB assault fire kills 1 SM, then in assault kill another 4.
Turn 5
Redeemer flamestorm cannon kills 4 CSM in front of it. SM gunfire kills 2 CSM. KB in assault kill 1 SM. Abaddon joins the melee, killing 4. Meltas from a CSM squad destroy the remaining lascannons on the predator.
Turn 6
Game ends on a roll of 2
Game drawn, both objectives held by respective forces, neither contested.
Score
Black Legion 13
Salamanders 1
Drawn 1
What a difference a game makes! After last game Eryx went for the obliterators big time, can’t blame him really. He was defending for a draw, I needed more turns to get to his objective. First time I have fielded Abaddon in a long time, he rocked in close combat, was just pleased I rolled no 1’s for his daemon weapon lol.

Hi all.
After real life and Christmas getting in the way yet again, DonRemus and I are preparing to continue our campaign. Hopefully it will be next week but until then, here is our next mission:
The Gauntlet.
Deployment.
The table is divided lengthways into two halves, by drawing an imaginary line through the middle of the short table edges.
The players roll off and the winner chooses to go first or second. The player that goes first then chooses one of the long table edges to be his table edge. He then deploys his force in his half of the table, with all models more than 12'' away from the table's middle line. His opponent then deploys in the opposite half.
Deploy any infiltrators and make any scout moves.
Reserves.
Any units not initially deployed on the table must be placed in reserve.
First Turn.
The player that chose his deployment zone first starts the game.
Objective.
The attacker must get as many units off the board via the exit point as possible. The exit point is a 6'' section of table edge (see special rules below). If he manages to get half or more of his force off the table then he wins. A unit with survivors or a damaged vehicle still counts.
Special Rules.
The attacker declares a 6'' exit point along the table edge on the defender's table edge. This is the point where he must get his units off the table.

Ok so had the first game with the new list (http://www.40kforums.com/vb/showthre...nd-Improved-1k) tonight against Eryx_UKs Salamanders. Again it was a concede on the 4th turn (or was it 5th?).
This was his list (from memory)
Captain with Relic Blade and Plasma Pistol
4 full tactical squads with meltaguns, multi meltas, power Weapons and Plasma Pistols
Land Speeder typhoon
Predator with lots of lascannons
The board had quit a bit of terrain, unfortunately most of it was really short and didnt give cover very well. In short I had very good fireing lines and he had to foot slog it accrose the board...not a very good situation for him. The last stages of the game had my Sentinel charge one of his last units to stop them fireing at my vets and his captain counter charging. Unfortunately for him, with 8 krak grenades and 4 relic blade attacks my sentinel wasnt scratched at all. Over the course of the game all I lost was 1 Veteran and the Hellhound (who in all my games has yet to do ANYTHING). All in all I felt rather sorry for him. But I had a great time
I have to comend you though. All through-out the game you were very sporting and i didnt see you frown or huff once. You were even joking about it to the other guys. Not something I could have done in your possition. Always a pleasure gaming with you. Next time I'll play my Deathwing against you, I dont have nearly as much shooting in it.
Remember people, Basilisk'''s are my friends
But sadly, not yours
Please take a few minutes to look at my Deathwing Tactica

Turn 4.
I only had my 1750pt league list with me so I had to make do with what I can afford to fit in.This was his list (from memory)
Captain with Relic Blade and Plasma Pistol
4 full tactical squads with meltaguns, multi meltas, power Weapons and Plasma Pistols
Land Speeder typhoon
Predator with lots of lascannons
Just to clarify, one sarge had a chainsword not a power weapon, and his squad had a missile launcher and no special weapon.
I do grumble some game, usually due to twinky lists and crap dice rolls, but our game tonight was a good fair fun game. Can't grumble. I had a good game. Thank you.I have to comend you though. I used my current league list (see previous post) as I had not had time to design another for the mission at hand. I forget exactly what DonRemus had but it had four rhinos filled with troops, a lord on a bike with a bike squad, two obliterators ,and a summonable greater daemon.
Our mission was one where DonRemus had to get at least half of his army off the table on my side via 6'' gap, the position of which chosen by him. The mission doesn't actually say whether you pick that before deployment or after but we assumed it must be before deployment. I wasn't going to be an arse and block it entirely so I suggested that so long as a base of his models could reach the point then the unit could escape.
DonRemus rolled and picked sides, then chose his exit point. He positioned his bikers and rhinos across from the exit point. I placed my land raider redeemer on the exit point facing towards him (thus giving the space to get around it if he could get there). I spread my marines out to offer a decent field of fire and used the empty rhinos to block his advance or shot his troops, whatever was needed.
My opponent advanced but his obliterators didn't do anything (a trend the set for most of the game), and on my turn I managed to knock out a pair of his rhinos forcing his troops to advance on foot. This pretty much was the game. My armour saves were made easily, or the Power of the Machine Spirit kept the Redeemer's assault cannons going, and I was able to force his troops to get the last few feet on foot. The bikes died very quickly to cannons and the flamestorm cannons. Even when his daemon turned up it took out one tactical squad and was then crushed by my TH/SS terminators. By turn 4 (I think) I had taken out enough of DonRemus's army that he couldn't win.
As I mentioned a couple posts back I felt very bad even though I had won because it felt like such a hard mission for my opponent (even though I normally get creamed by him).
Score
Black Legion 13
Salamanders 2
Drawn 1
