New to Warhammer Orcs and Goblins 1000pt list

Hey peeps I was unsure of how the percentage went for Fantasy in regards to building A 1000 point list to start off with.

What I have with me at the moment is A...

1. Black Orc Warboss
2. Two boxes of Black Orcs
3. Two boxes of Savage Orcs

Correct me if im woring but What I got so far is.

1. Black Orc Warboss 160
Armour of Gork 100

2. One Black Orc regiment 120
Musician 10
Standard 10

3. One Black Orc regiment 120
Musician 10
Standard 10

4. Savage Orc Boys 80
Musican 10
Standard 10
Extra Weapon 10

5. Savage Orc Boys 80
Musician 10
Standard 10
Extra Weapon 10

Comes to A total of 780!

I was wondering if I calculated it right and also if this is legal for what I have to start playing. Also, What could I add to make A good 1000 points on top of this?

Not sure on orcs army book but you can't take a lord choice at this point range and at 1k I think its a maximum 250 points you can spend on heroes

Pretty sure that lords aren't limited to points now...other than being 25% of the total points at most. So yes, a Black orc warboss in that armor cannot be taken in a 1k army...as it's 26% of the army points...10 points too much

Right off the bat...the biggest thing is that only 10 per squad may not be enough. But if you're going for it...then those two troop sets are good. I'd also say throw Champs in to all those squads though...that'll be 60 points and be pretty worth it I think. If you still have a lot of points left...a HORDE of goblins can't go wrong...or night goblins

Ah okies. Im tryin to stray away from the gobbos though and make A Orc only army. Is that A wise decision?

If I took away the armour I'd have A total of 680. What would you all fill in with A total of 320 left?

Are champions like the Boss upgrades?

I know I have A plethora of Questions but what about big stabbas for the savage orcs?

Champions are like the musician upgrades (yes they are bosses)

Orcs only is fine...but numbers will be key...might be worth dropping from a black orc warboss to a black orc big boss...under 1k points you don't need the upgrade. 320 is a load of extra orcs to fill out those squads...you can't go above 500 points in special...so black orcs are limited to...so make each black orc squad 18 guys (6 wide, 3 ranks). That's 251 points each with the boss, musician and standard. Drop one boss and use the big boss instead there...that saves you 15 points for the boss upgrade plus 12 for the orc so you keep it to 18 orcs. This leaves you 25 points. Give the unit with the big boss shields for 17 points...and we still have some points left for upgrades to the big boss. You should also have points for more savage boys. The big stabba can be nice...but not in a small squad as you want them to live to use it. You might even consider making one savage squad into big' uns

The total is 725!!

To reach my 1000pt limit I'd have to get another

1. Black Orcs with shields x15 = 195

2. Savage Orcs with extra hand weapons x7 = 77

725 + 195 + 77 = 997!!

How's that?

Most people are going to tell you that your squads are too small, plain and simple....but at 1k points there is wiggle room. What might be good...is using boar boys to flank enemies
