    AoBR

I have a question, could I mix the SM from AoBR with some Grey Knights and IG and have a legal army or would have to jump through any extra hoops

You may mix them with GK...if you treat them as GK...

You may not use them as normal Space Marines...and you may only use IG units with GK while using the GK codex.

The basic rule is that you CANNOT mix codexes. There are 3 different codexes in question...you may only use one at a time.

I'm not 100% on the new GK codex, but you may use those IG models as things in the GK codex that are not actual power armor guys. Things like henchmen and such. You know, just for the pretty models!

    Inquisitorial Henchmen

    Inquisitor Coteaz.
Warrior w/ Power armour and Boltgun: Space Marine.
Warrior w/ Carapace Armour and Lasgun/ Hotshot lasgun: Guardsman.

Beyond that though, you can't combine codexes until you're playing Apocalypse, at 3000 points. Personally, I've never enjoyed it

I suppose you could follow some kind of house rule with your friends though, using a rough allies system. Open up the idea to your friends, and use the Warhammer Fantasy Battles 8th Edition Rulebook section for inspiration. I remember seeing such a table in White Dwarf a few years back... or was it actually in the Apocalypse book? It might have been to aid some kind of back story for friendly games in order to allow people to justify why Orks, Tyranids, and Sisters of Battle were all on the same side of the battlefield haha.

Alternatively, in friendly games you could play say two 750 point armies from separate codexes as long as they follow the force org for each list you provide. Any friendly player refusing to play you with two 750 point armies isn't a very friendly player.

using the models from AoBR as Grey Knights is no problem... they don't come with a psycannon, but you can use your imagination in friendly games.

I don't think that I would do this too readily.

Counts-as armies are all fine as long as you make it clear, and make every effort to ensure that it's clear throghout the game, what counts as what.

I actually wouldn't allow that either. Mixing armies always leads to problems. I'd rather you brought a unit of IG to be something from the GK dex...not mix them. It just makes it easier and more fair. There's a reason Longfangs cost less that devastators.

Ok here is my plan, get the AoBR, and inquisitor Coteaz, some GK terminator squads, and some psycannons to work with them. and then get some IG models to use as henchmen.
