if you suffer a immobilised result on the damage table after turbo boosting ( forgoing your shootin to move upto 24 inch ) the you will land as normal, without this upgrade you treat it as a wrecked of destroyed cant rememba wich one, i always take the upgrade as you want to move 24 inch last turn and try to tie up objectives

for fast skimmer transports, the passengers are killed if you immobilize in the same player turn that you go flat out* (I.E. you attempted to fly into terrain and rolled a 1 on the dangerous test; since going flat out with a skimmer turns immobilized results into wrecked results)
WITH vectored engines, you would just suffer an immobilized as normal even if you went flat out and failed the dangerous test. in this case the passengers are not effected since the vehicle isn't destroyed.

*now without vectored engines, you go flatout with a skimmer and then in your opponents shooting (or assault phase) your skimmer is immobilized, it will become a wreck, but the passengers will disembark (if there is room to from the access point), this is because the rules are quite clear that fast transports may not embark/disembark passengers in the same turn as they go flatout (and then in the rulebook and FAQ state that any mention of 'turn' is just 'player turn' unless it specifically calls for a 'game turn')
