New GW tools and modeling supplies

    Hey everybody,

Just caught, at the bottom of the GW blog today, the announcement of some new tools and things. But here's what really caught my eye: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/ca...d=prod1380020a

Liquid green stuff. I'll be curious to see how it works, but could be a huge waste-saver and time-saver.

If anybody uses it, let us know how it works!

2,750 Codex Marines (Deepstrike themed army)
    2,250 Deathwing
    ~2,000 Black Templar (mech)
    ~1,850 Spacewolves (footslog)
    ~1,650 Tyranid

    The Emperor's Codex

Aren't "liquid" and "green stuff" two completely contradictory terms?

Liquid Green Stuff is the ideal tool for filling in small gaps on a miniature. Because it is water soluble you can use a normal Citadel Paint Brush to apply it (just make sure you wash the brush afterwards). The Liquid Green Stuff will then set in place, filling the gap neatly and efficiently.
    So, it's green-tinted glue.

I suggest using it with a totally different brush than normal paints...just in case.

    Otherwise i like the concept

Indeed, that my first thought. Either very similar elmer's glue or paint of much thicker consistency. I'm interested to check it out though.

GW does not hate non-Space Marine armies. They just don't give a FAQ.

There are several products like it already. So it is just GW selling an existing product under their own name, much like how they sell actual greenstuff.

I'm not really a fan of their normal green stuff, as I find brown stuff and gray stuff works better, but this liquid green stuff might be nice for patching seams, also the price doesnt seem half bad. I look foward to seeing how this stuff preforms.

That could be interesting, however, some questions popped up in my mind:

Will it reduce in volume when it dries? (Jeah, stupid question, but essentially. Some glues do just that, and that it would be useless if it does this)
How long is the time till it dries to a point where you can handle the mini normal? (If it takes the 60-90min "normal" greenstuff needs to get hard it's definetly worthless for me, I don't want to sit a hour waiting for each little hole the mini has)
Why, for gods sake, has it to be green? (sorry, that's a bit off-topic )

Its just another thing for GW to get people to part money with.

would you pay Ł8.20 for an old toothbrush and a blunt/broken craft knife? and Ł3.75 for some emery boards?

as for the liquid greenstuff why? bother at all, I already have super glue and solid green stuff.

I was in store when they received the delivery of these. All the staff in there were confused and had to call head office to find out whether to put them on the shelves straight away or whether they were a new release and when the release date was. Apparently communication of these new releases hasn't been massive. Then again, I can understand why.

If anyone in the world buys the Clean-up kit, they need a slap. It's just completely unnecessary to pay for it - a toothbrush and an odd-shaped piece of blunt metal for Ł8.20.

Our store totally sold out of their first batch of liquid greenstuff today. I didn't manage to get hold of any in time.
Be interested in trying it as a seam line eraser.

Lots of positive reviews on various sites by people that have used the liquid green stuff. Also seems to be ideal for plastic models where it doesn't quite fit flush.

Some folks at the local were talking about this on Monday, and I didn't have a damned clue what they were on about. Makes sense now. Could come in handy actually, as sometimes you'll only want to fill a seam, or the odd spot here and there. Don't know about anyone else, but I always over-estimate the amount of GS to mix up and always have some spare. Such a waste. At least this should help that somewhat. Cheaper than their roll too (though anyone who's done more than a small bit of GSing knows that you can get similar to cheaper with twice the amount elsewhere).

As far as the emery boards go ... pass. I've got 10 various shaped needle files and more abrasive paper then you could shake a stick at. I did have a nosey at the "finishing kit" on Monday and wondered why the hell anyone would bother with it - an old stiff tooth brush will do the job just as well, and a good sharp scalpel is first port of call for scraping mould lines away and I've been using such for years and would advise anyone else to do the same too. Such a waste of money.

This week I am good-naturedly shaking my fist at: Baragash. For being unreasonably reasonable.
    Sex, drugs and pointy ears.
Cheaphammer 40p: 2000 points of Marines as cheap as possible.
It'll be alright on the Knight - a slow refreshing of my original Grey Knight army.

Grey Knights don't go to heaven: they go to hell and regroup.

I'm curious about the amount of shrinkage with the liquid green stuff... pvc glue works fine, but sometimes you have to use two or three times because it shrinks so much as it dries.

It might be worth keeping a pot of this around if it can do the same in one swipe.

I agree about the scratch boards and toothbrush though.

When my Xacto blades start to dull they get demoted to mold line duty until they are replaced... works even better on FC than plastic, to be honest. That stuff shaves off like butter...

Looks like another round of modeling supplies.

    http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/ca...e=paints-tools

The one that seems to stand out is the 'Eavy Metal Medium that come with the special 'Eavy Metal Brushes (which is actually only two brushes):

The set also features two pots of 'Eavy Metal Medium, a clear matt wash that can be used to thin paints into glazes.
In the UK, they apparently call that "medium." Here in the States, we call it "water."

Ha! ... we call it water... priceless...

So what happened? They sacked the New Product Development Team and put Matt Ward in charge of new product ideas?
