Tyranid painting
My tyranid painting gonna start really soon. And i want some opinion about the few idea i had. I bought everything used so i have a few model already painted in leviathan to a really high level. But the only thing that is painted is 6 hormagant and 1 carnifex ... i might just prime black again and repaint the whole thing .... so here my few option, everything is on a black primer.
Option 1
Chittin red , Shell blue. keep going levianthan
Option 2
Chittin vomit brown + bleach bone , Shell Dark Brown + Tan highlight
Option 3
Chittin Dry brush gray 2 tone , shell red gore highlight red blood
Right now that the 3 option i have in mind , but open to suggestion. I want to avoid green since we have ork , want to avoid too much blue because of the crimson fist and the eldar are painted purple lich. Soi dont want any shceme close to those color. I tend more toward option 2 or 3. Opinion plz

It's really personal prefernce. You could maybe paint up a couple of gaunts in your preferred options and see how they loo, can always strip them again.
Personally I like the sound of Option 3 as I don't think I've seen that before and I think that would look good.

unless you're into the insect/cockroach look I don't recommend browns
red/blue should be Behemoth IIRC. you say the prepainted models are quality. If you like this color scheme you could use them as reference to try honing your own painting skills
-as well it may not be much, but at least this is 7 models you don't have to paint, as a swarm piles up it can be pretty daunting to keep focused on cranking them out.
if still unsure of what colors you want to use do some paint test combinations (you can always strip them later). just take a guant and slap on the basic colors, doesn't have to be pretty or even finished. cover just enough of the chitin and then the shells to see if the two colors pop for you. do up 3 or 4 of different testors. then for the combinations you like, add a little more detail like some highlight lines and maybe a wash. now you should really have a good idea if you like the scheme, take a fresh model and paint it up seriously as you start soaking the testors to strip them.

Like said I wouldn't do the brown on brown, I prefer a lot of contrast between areas. My own are enchanted blue skin with ice blue drybrushed over it and snot green, goblin green, then highlighted scorpion green carapaces. So the colors are really bright but they contrast so much. I kind of like the grey and red scheme, it sounds interesting.

I choose the easy option ,
White primer , Brown wash , black dry brush on the shell , red gore on the shell. I will put some picture really soon.
My first time ever i was using wash. I m not a big fan of it , but with the amount of thing i need to paint , i m glad i choose easy option but the gray/red , would have probably look better. I still have to paint 700 pts of eldar , 1200 pts of ork(green tide) over 1000 pts of marine, and i have a problem , i cannot play with unpainted model .... dont know why.
I ve attached the tyranid on the first thread , and i will put my Ork conversion , some nobz and my deffdread here
